Title: [Tips]How to not crash in CB and others
Post by: Kiern on December 24, 2004, 09:03:08 pm: Some tips on how to stay in the game, how to get started, etc. Just since the other places were too spammed and this is easier to read. Add yours.

If you migrated your character, you have to use the first name when you create a new character

If it says creation choices not valid and your CP is 0 or more, close out of Planeshift and relogin and it should work, otherwise get CP out of the negatives

When changing maps, the game sometimes crashes, there\'s nothing you can do about it but pull Planeshift up and try again...it shouldn\'t happen that much.

Server constantly goes linkdead, just relogin to the game. Linkdead means that the server is offline, usually due to a crash or them updating some things.

The gui crashes people a lot, use the shortcuts! (i=inventory, etc.) Some say that turning sound off fixes this.

LOG OFF once you get a decent amount Progression Points, if the server crashes it is not saved

There are NPCs to fight in the sewers and in the arena, but nowhere else. Some fight back and some do not, be careful.

i didnt use my mb char so i have 0 trias and buing anything would cost ..
also i was running around and dodnt find any monsters to kill- where are any enemies?

These are so people do not do something that will cause them to crash, such as using the GUI, and also just general tips.

They are not fixes, and therefore tips.

Post by: James Gregory on December 25, 2004, 09:35:42 am: You turn off sound by running pssetup (you should have a start menu icon for it). Changing sound to Direct3D also seems to prevent crashes for me.

Post by: Thenior on December 26, 2004, 04:56:18 am: Ok, my client would not load with OpenAL, and if I select a NPC, and do one of it\'s functions (IE Right click> select option), it works fine. But if I immediatly try to do another option, the client locks up.

If PS does not load, and you have the CS engine installed, make sure that the enviroment variable is correct (meaning not pointing to the CS dir but the PS dir).

However, whenever I do manage to enter (rarely), I seem to be free of crashes..
