Title: amount of RAM used for CB is huge
Post by: Gwath on December 26, 2004, 07:32:53 pm
I have not-so-bad machine with Athlon 1.8 Ghz, 80 GB drive, 256 DDR ram. It works quite OK, and I have _no_ problems with playing such games like DOOM III or Lineage 2.
But Crystal Blue, is different... It consumes all my RAM and swap! It took ~450 MB of RAM!!!

I\'m not trying to say, that 256 MB od RAM should be enough for anyone... but if I\'d like to compare CB to Lineage 2, I can\'t understand the source of this difference!
Lineage 2 is also MMORPG (rather Hack&Slash - ok ;)), it has huge world, with awsome graphic, and requires ~250 MB of RAM.

To be honest, I think that there must be sume bug, that it should not require as much RAM.

Lineage is a finished product

Cb is not

They will must likely wait until the game is mostly done to start optimising it.

hum... try going to the planeshift setup in the start menu and turn the \"Load all maps\" option off, that should help

I have the same problem, and i dont have load all maps on. I turned all the video stuff down as far as i twould go, ran a registry cleaner, ad-aware, junk remover, updated my drivers, and did all kinds of other things and i can only move 3 feet and then i get frozen for like 20 seconds. It isnt my computer cuz it ran ffxi and everquest with no lag what soever. I agree with him that its to much ram.

What was it Bill Gates said?
\"640k Should Be Enough for Anybody.\"

Seriously, before the tests it took 1.5 GB ram.
256 is waaay too little these days, especially if you want to play an unfinished game

The game uses 1.4GB of RAM with load all maps. If you\'ve played other MMORPG\'s you\'ll see similar amounts used up if you put every setting on best quality. SWG used up 2GB for me, and that\'s a \"finished\" game.
