well guys i hoped to enjoy planeshift but it seems my graphic card is too weak. font is all messed up. might be able to get a new one if anyone has suggestions for a good but not costly card please recomend. thank you

yep yep, it does suck, but don\'t be mad at ps devs, i believe they doing best they can.. although i don\'t know their list of priorities i would suggest to them to optimize the game first..
if you have uptodate mobo then get good graphic card, otherwise you won\'t be able to use a new card with old motherboard..
this is cheap 256 mb graphic card.. very good upgrade from 32 mb one, but not nearly best tho

What sort of graphics card do you have? I am sure the Crystal Space team would like to have a list of cards that are well supported and a list that is not so supported to help them decide where to work.

Yeah I have a laptop With a S3 card and it does the same thing. I think S3 cards just suck, cuz everyone has problems with most their cards.

Get an ATI :)
The one on newegg was a pretty good find but everything I order from newegg is always broken =/
I bought my radeon 9200SE from a store for 75 bucks (US) that should be cheap enough eh?

the graphic card that seems to have trouble is prosavage s3 ddr 32 bit. im looking into getting a better card or maybe you developers could find a solution once everything is fixed or in your spare time. i dont mind waiting more ive been waiting for a while now so whats more waiting. you guys have done a greatjob and even though i cant play as of yet id like to congagulate you. thank you

S3/savage cards have problems with many games, i have a friend who own a laptop with a Prosavage card and most slightly newer games (by that i mean something made within the last seven years), has something or another that it dosnt show correctly. So i would say that instead of the devs wasting time, trying to optimize PS to run on these cards the owners should purchase something newer...

I got my radeon 128 MB 9600XT card for about 250 loonies. Not bad, eh?
No, seriously do the math 250 loonies = 205.116 USD (learn something new everyday)
Guess thats not cheap.... my advice is to shop around, my friend got a 256MB 9600 for 150 canadian bucks.

I have a 32mb card, and i have the same problem, thought it might not be the card. Theres another topic all about the text problems.
If i were to order the card sashok gave a link to, does it have instructions on how to install it in your computer?or do you have to have a professional do it?

if you have a separate video card now on your pc, then put the new card the same exact way, they are all the same.. however problem is, that this card uses AGP port, and if you have PCI port and no AGP then this card is useless. it\'s all about the motherboard
-
I bought my ATi Raedon 9200SE 128 mb videocard for $50 at http://www.tigerdirect.com and it runs crystal blue pretty well. The have a whole mess of 128mb ATi and Nvidia cards for $50 there.

I found that you have to set you desktop to 32bit if you set game to 32bit.

Not much of a general discussion. Technical help is better suited for these kinds of conversations.

umm...we havent installed a new card. my computer came with a 32mb video card.
I have an AMD Athlon XP 1700+
and how the hell do i tell if i have an AGP or PCI port?

find out the brand name and version of your mother board.. use this tool Aida32, it\'s system information tool
http://www.webattack.com/get/aida32.shtml
then find this mother board sold somewhere and look at it\'s specs.. serious hardware part stores always write specs. That\'s where you will see if your mobo has AGP slots.. Of course it has PCI slots, but that\'s old news since new video cards need AGP. IF you have AGP port you gotta know more about it\'s specs, read this http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000308.htm
well my help is all done, you\'re on your own
