Post by: Lorddonk on December 29, 2004, 02:54:41 am
I\'m downloading Planeshift with NetLeech... it estimates a total of 3.0 days............. I don\'t think this is how long its supposed to take.......right?.....anyway if anyone downloaded Planeshift with a faster free download accelerator can you please post it and a link? Thanks! Otherwise if 3 days is how longs it really takes.....I\'m going to go crazy waiting!!!!!!!!! :(

I think you have to pay for that....know any free ones? Preferably small sizes? :D

EDIT: Oh really? I didn\'t know that cause there is a register button so I thought you HAD to register XD. Thanks I\'m downloading FlashGet with NetLeech, then Im deleting NetLeech and downloading Planeshift @_@ no sleep for me tonight. LOL thanks a lot for the new download manager!

And I guess the EDIT button escaped me otherwise I would\'ve just edited my first post. @_@ thanks again! BYE!

Use download plus, its free and open source (hence won\'t eat your brain).  Consequently it has no adds.

I find it fast and easy to configure

Yea, Flashget/Jetcar rocks in my opinion. =)

There\'s also FlashFXP which is a great ftp tool for web masters. ..

Umm what\'s wrong with the \"Save Target As\" or just the regular browser save? :O

Edit... well more like a foot note which was added later...: Unless a system/server has a cap on how fast 1 send can be... won\'t a download accelrator which initiates multiple connections only make it look like it\'s moving faster without actually going any faster then your line is able to?
... I never did get how those worked...

I don\'t know about those others, but what I do know is that YADA (Yet Another Download Accelerator) sucks butt.  I was about 86% done with the client file today when I got disconnected, and YADA decided it was done downloading the file and marked it as Completed.   Anyways now I\'m using a peice of software called \"Internet Download Manager 4.03\"... which seems to be working much better.

Looks like I\'m not gonna get to try out PlaneShift tonight! lol

Umm...

I like Firefox\'s download system.

^_^

I\'m pretty sure there\'s an extension somewhere that allows download resuming, but I\'m yet to find it.

:P

With 1.0 it\'s automatic  ;)

That\'s what I use, course I\'m DSL so I don\'t need any of that other crap...

A lot of servers throttle each connection.  So that each connection may be able to download at no more then 100k for example.  A download accelerator that makes multiple connections allows for 1-9 or more 100k connections.  Thats is if you pipe is big enuf to take all the data.  So that is one of the points, plus there is all so the nice pause/resume features of a download manager.  A must if a user is on dial up or a slow connection in case of a break in the connection etc.

If you quit Firefox, you lose your DL.

:P

I don\'t need those programs, anyways.  I\'ve modified my Firefox to allow pipelining.

^_^

Currently running 30 streams at once, w00t!

3 days! wow u must have a bad connection. either that or mines too damn fast. it only took me about 10 minutes to download this and im not even using an accelerator. of course it could be the fact that im on a T100 Broadband connection
