Title: North American server
Post by: Noctis Lamnia on January 02, 2005, 10:38:27 pm
I\'m just wondering, when will there be a North American server, if ever?

I get lag of around 400 or so, and it\'s pretty annoying (especially when I get around 50-70 with Counter-Strike).

When you\'ll sponsor a server in every country.

This game doesn\'t ask money. Be happy there is at least ONE server.

When the number of players online at one time becomes a problem.
That will be a long time.

Net lagg has a minimal effect in planeshift what your experiencing is graphical lagg which is due to the lack of code optimisation.  So it wouldn\'t really matter if  the server was next door or on the other side of the world you would still get lagg.

I\'m getting a 9800 Pro soon, would that help with the lag issue, or is it purely a code thing?  I\'m using a 64mb card now, moving up to 128 (maybe 256).  Just wondering if that will help.

A graphics card won\'t help with your ping, but the game will run much smoother. I ping around 500 and have no lag problems.

Such ping would be certainly totally unplayable in counter-strike, but this game is not a FPS so it is ok.

Yes, I agree that the ping isn\'t too much of an issue.  It still is kinda annoying having such a high ping, though.

Where is the server? Just wondering, as I am living with an average of 1s ping to the server.

I could probably organize a server easily for PS, but only when the game increases in size a heck of a lot more and the features are more complete.

Server\'s located in Italy.

Hence, the .it at the end of the website\'s address.

The website\'s in Italy, the server is in Singapore. The server\'s website doesn\'t end in .it :) (http://laanx.fragnetics.com)

The domain doesn\'t have anything to do with where the server is located. That\'s just the DNS, so a .it server can still be in the US or in the middle of Russia. Makes no diffrence, except a small increase in load times.

But yes, the game server is in Singapore, somewhere in a hidden bombshelter in chrischoos back yard... Or something like that.
