i have 2 problems. the first one is my updater does not work and the second is the only server that ever shows up is fragnetics and it says that i do not have the correct version for this server. PLEASE HELP!!!

You have only one problem... that the updater is not working. Due to incompatible changes on server it is necessary that you update your client before you can connect.
Maybe you can give us more information about the problem... what is the error-message you get? if no error message, what symptoms do you see? what operating system are you using (Win98/WinME) causes currently a lot\'ta troubles with the updater.

your not running the correct versionfor this server fragnetis i got the same problem :|

ok, i found the solution, for i had the same problem, you have to go into your directory (ex. C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue) and look for a file called \"update\" double click and follow the instructions

I assume you are using RPMs and do not compile it on your machine... Because after CVS update (new message.h!) and recompile I could connect without any problems.
I have no idea when there will be an update for RPMs...

What file type is it and in what directory might I find it SPECIFICALLY? BTW, is it \"update\" or \"updater\" or \"updateconfig\" or something like that?

I got the same problem.... I try to update though, and the updater thingy trys to update its self first.
It goes:
Welcome to the PlaneShift updater version 1.0.2.1
Click update to start.
(So I click update)
Downloading registry...
Loaded registry.
Server has another updater, going to fetch it..
Downloading registy...
Loaded registry.
Updating updater to version 1.0.2.1
Its trying to update itself to what it already is! The only thing is it allways trys to do that, and never gets to updating PS!
After it says all that, a pop up thingy comes up. It has a black background and says up the top C:\\WINDOWS\\COMMAND.COM
This screen does nothing, I have waited and hoped it would but nothing happens. And I have no idea what to do with it. So I try the updater again, and it redose it all over again! Whats going on! ?(

@Satha: I think you are using Win98/WinME, so please read this thread for a workaround (the auto-updater is not fully functional for Win98/ME)...

i had the same problem as this guy but i managed to update it and so the server is now \"laanx\" and it then says \"The server is not running or not reachable. Please check the website or forums for more info\" do i need to update again or unload every thing and reload it?
Or do i have an older version.
I have windows xp will that do any thing i.e stop me playing as well?

its now just conected but its saying that \"no account was found with that name\" this was in loggin were do i get an account? i tried my email, i even tried my account for these forums and they didnt work any help?

Ok you have WinXP, and the last message you see is \"Downloading registry...\".
This looks like some kind of firewall or router is blocking internet access for \"updater.exe\" or you have an general problem accessing the planeshift-server.
Try to access this url from you internet explorer:
http://laanx.fragnetics.com/updater_hidden
There should be a popup and prompt for username/password, try user: psteam password: p1ane
Can you see this page (there should be some files visible and no error message from internet explorer, except maybe \"authorization required\" when you enter wrong user/password)?
The updater-program is simply doing the same, it accesses the above http-link...
Check your firewall applications on your machine, if you see an \"updater.exe\" or \"psclient.exe\" - you should give them access to internet because these are the planeshift applications.
