Title: something wrong with the updater?
Post by: ice9 on January 05, 2005, 12:37:01 am
I cant seem to get planeshift working. when i first installed it, the login screen was working fine, except for when i clicked ok, it said you are not running the correct version for this server.
I then ran the updater, which went all crazy and said restart the updater. i did, then it said something about the version being higher.
After this, the log on screen wouldnt even work!
I then uninstalled and reinstalled plane shift, to find i had the same problem.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

There is a patched updater. I downloaded it and it worked. However, since it\'s not coming from the PS team, it may contain malware and / or trash your computer, so be warned. I didn\'t find any virus, etc., but the file may change anytime, so be wary.
(Sorry, zarevak, but it is possible)

Use at your own risk.

it did work and i really wanted to thank you for the help

one thing though to add is after downloding the patch you have to remember to move the file into the planetshift file that was instaled on you pc.

for example:

after d/l:  C:\\Downloads\\updater.zip

change to: F:\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue

i use 2 drives one for games and meida the other for windows progams yours will look diferent depending on how you instaled the game.  just remember that the patch has to replace the on in the palanetshift folder inorder to work.

thank you again for the ling it really helped.

oh and still no virues found.

However, don\'t thank me, as I didn\'t create the patch. :)

Asdef2000 (aka zarevak) (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/members.php?mode=profile&userid=13728&boardid=33) created it.

@ SoleOfWinter: yes, I forgot to mention this, thanks for reminding me. :)
Title: updater
Post by: Nedhrys on January 05, 2005, 11:34:48 am
hi there,

I\'m about to install cb on my xandros linux distro.
voidinit posted the relevant rpm\'s on his domain, but has advised me that the newest version of cb is not compatible with the versions of the art and data directories on the server, and that i might have to wait until the updater has been reworked.

would the patch mentioned above help me get the relevant data?

where and when do i find an up-to-date updater?

thanx for the help,

Nedhrys

Hello!
I\'m running PS build from CVS under Linux.
Will a new CVS-Checkout fix the problem?
I just ask because i use a simple ISDN 64Kb- Connection and last time it took me **ages** to check out the whole trees.

I don\'t think it will solve the updater problem, because the updater is needed to get the content. However, if you already have the content, you might get away with checking out the CVS and compiling it.
However, as of now, the updater seems to have been fixed, so this change should be reflected in the CVS, but OTOH, the normal updater should work again anyway.
