Now this is a story all about how my life got twist turned upsidedown! (i can do the carlton as a matter of fact)

biker shorts under skirts was and IS strangly sexy

fraggle rock was like drugs for kids.. and was also awsome

well i can\'t comment on all those but once i figure out the whole traversing time the 80\'s are WAY up there on my list (no sk8trs, avril, crappy reality TV, gangstaz, the crap MTV (because the ever owning old MTV was around then) and no \"dewd\" as atari 2600 was the latest and greatest in gaming equipment.. i still own my 2600 as a matter of fact complete with yars revenge, pitfall, adventure, pinball and many others

the eighties was the silver age of children\'s television programing. if it wasn\'t the silver it comes pretty close to golden age.

yeah the shows were mostly 25 minute commericals for the toys. but they still were cool.

the great potential of the furture was yet to come. the energy of the 70\'s had carried forward and built on itself. all things were still possible in the eighties. but what happened. it\'s like we lost the drive to move forward.

i miss the eighties.

of course it could just be the old looking back at our own childhood... but still. i miss the eighties.

Fox box has the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I watched my old animated movies of the turtles and shredder was such a dork then it ashamed me.
The new one is uber.
Even though he\'s a blob in a robot suit.
he got his head lopped off and stood up afterwards.
And carried his head away.
it rocked.

I think \"80s kid\" Isn\'t really a referal to kids who grew up in the 80s, anymore. Kids now watch VH1 \"I love the 80s\" or w/e or hear stories from their mom\'s and dad\'s, come to school and brag about it to their friends like they supercede time or something. Quite sad actually :/, I mean they aren\'t impressing anyone who matters. And if they do impress the little gal or guy they\'ve been eyeing for the past couple of days, it\'ll all come crashing down as soon as he or she watches it and recognizes you\'ve bassically ripped a whole episode :P.

My best example is some kid who is new on my bus route (yes I still ride the bus in highschool, it\'s a travesty :D) Anyways, this kid bassically came on the bus all good and happy (which is fine, the kid is cool. He\'s happy, and that\'s not something many people find) and brags that he\'s been doing yoga and working out. Immediately he spies some little 13 girl who wears a beenie trying to be intellictual, which is hilarious because from what I\'ve heard from her she is actually quite shallow. Bassically these 2 love birds start confessing they are so much smarter than everyone else because they\'ve been watching I love the 90s and have been listening to \"Rage against the Machine\" lately. The guy starts saying also that he\'s been reading the Ann Rice books, \"The Vampire Chronicles\".

It was hard to keep a straight face honestly, and not that I think I\'m any better because I know I\'ve tried acting intelligent and we all to a point. Well anyways a long story short it was funny to see these kids act all high and mighty above other people because they\'ve watched a bit too much VH1 and love feeling misunderstood. Youth is a funny thing. :]

I know its pathetic man. I listend to Rage against the machine back in 5th grade and now people just started liking them cuz VH1 said so.

Another good example of this is my sister whos now 14.  She\'s seen I love the 80\'s so manuy times she can talk exactly what the ppl are saying at the same time.  And she went from some punk with nets and an AFI obsession to a Guns and Roses fan. And she killed the band for me. Every time I listen to a song I hear my sis in the back of my head. so GnR looks like a bunch of wussies now.  I swear my sister could take slayer and make them look like little girls just by listening to them. We must sucide bomb VH1 and destroy this poisen thats infecting mindslaves of the media.

Nah, while some people do it more than others it\'s a good idea just to grin and bear it. Hopefully it\'s just a fad, and if it\'s here to stay it isn\'t that bad. It\'s better that kid\'s build on history than to anyone to be assholes and destroy what they are doing. Makes humourous stories to tell when your drunk anyway. :D

oh wow that was a good post.

for me i was born in 1987 but the 80\'s crawled through into the 90\'s pretty heavily (cause 90\'s wernt that cool)

ahh ninja turtles where the coolest and bright colours and bad hair cuts.  i still see many people here with mullets (they wear them as a joke of coarse)

alot of the 70\'s and 80\'s fashon was reborn here as well from the year 2000 onwards.

i remember slip and slides and the little metal clips on the end that rip your chest open, and all the bindie eyes in the grass.

the spots and swirls design wernt mentioned :P

well good thread (it takes me back when i was 3 and into the early 90\'s)

And where\'s Street-Hawk?  Manimal?

It\'s with a tear in my eye that I realise that there will never be TV programming like this again!  Ok, so maybe the actual \'quality\' of these shows was not the greatest but, and here it is...They Entertained me as a kid, and still do on into my adulthood.

Now I feel like I\'m inundated by \'What if.....\' type programming, which although it may be informative makes you wonder whether TV will actually revert back to the purpose it was created for....entertainment.

Bad fashion coming.....
How anyone that lived in the 80\'s and through the 90\'s will know 80\'s had some real bad ideas about fashion....
But yeah the things of todays trends are suspiciously lead by ideas from different era\'s.

Oh well, its bound to happen at some point :D
