what do progression points do, and how do u cast spells?
-
ok, that\'s what i figured out so far, but the manual has some more information at the pages
http://www.planeshift.it/guide/guide-skills.html
http://www.planeshift.it/guide/guide-magic.html
and it`s worth reading....
you use your progression points to lvl up your skills, for example magic.
first you ll need to understand the skill window, click on it and browse your skills, they ll be like this
skill name | lvl number | progression bar
Sword___ ____ 0____ _|||||||||||||||||||
the yelow part of the bar is how much you\'ll have to train to gain a lvl in that skill.
when you have progression points there will be a thin blue bar over the yellow one, that\'s how much leveling you\'ll do if you spend all your avaible points in that skill
As you train the yellow part of the bar will become green, meaning how much you progress you made in that skill when its entirely green you gained a lvl in the skill
as far as i know you can only gain 1 level at time in each skill no matter how many remaining points you have. You\'ll need to practice that skill ( make a food, repair an armor, fight , cast spells of a way) before you can gain another lvl.
in this case you fight and accumulate the progresion points (access your skill list to see how much you can lvl in a skill with you current points).
now you need to find a trainer, go click on the NPC\'s and type /train in the chat box to seei what they train,
iif the selected NPC is a trainer a box with the skills he can train will appear, you select the skill and click the \"buy\" button on the top to spend a skill point and some tria, after the bar is entirely grenn yopu pratice a litle that skill to gain a level and start the next ( the message \"you gained parctice points in skill X\" appear in the chat box.
now to the Magic,
first find a npc who sells glyphs, examine the glyphs and choose a path on the avaible magics, and buy a gliph for the path you chose ( or do it later when you have the money)
now you have the points so find a npc who trains any of the ways of magic you chose ( read the manual for that) and spent points in that skill .
now you have skills and the glyphs let\'s prepare the spell...
open your spell book and select a glyph, drop it at one of the four empty spaces on the bottom of the screen and click purify,
congrats, you just learnt your first spell
now let\'s practice a little
go find and enemy n select it
4adjust the \"spell power\" slider at the info window for the quantity ofpower you want
now you can :
1 open your spell book , click on the spell and the click on cast,
2 type /cast at the chat window or ...
3 as i do, assign a macro to the comand above in the sortcut window an click on it whwn in battle
now pay attention to this factors
1 a spell may take some time be casted so have some distance between you and you foe
3 some spell have min. and max range
4 spells may fail if you try to use too much power without having the requirement (skill levels)
4 the more power you use , the more mana you consume
5 each way of magic has a correlated stat such as charisma or intelligence, but i\'m not sure how the stats will affect your abbilities in a certain way
6 each npc has a certain knowlegde of a skill and will not train you beyond his skill

ok, but how to gain practical experience on skills?
If I put progression points to sword, i can gain practical knowledge and rank up when i fight with sword.
but after i put some progression points in blue way, i don\'t get practical knowledge in that skill while fighting (casting freeze which is blue).
Do you get points when you kill foes? but i think there\'s a bug preventing to kill with spells; as rats go to 0% after casting to them 4 freeze, but they survive and continue fighting till you finish them with sword.

Freeze is a spell of the Blue way, not Azure. :) You\'ll need to train in the Blue way with Levrus, Jayose, or Brintec. So far as I know there are no Azure glyphs yet.
The problem of spells that do gradual damage like freeze are indeed buggy. Some notes on fixes done by the developers in CVS show that they seem to be aware of the problem, and are attempting to fix it.

Macro Command? Sounds like one needs computer skills - other than point and click. (wince) Perhaps you can tell me how to make a Macro command with spells?
