Title: clothes!
Post by: gatuno on January 07, 2005, 11:30:14 am
Clothes are very important in RPG, don t you think??

Hehe! I think that the players can be able to buy clothes (poor, normal or luxuous)... Like this they can be difrent from the others =P

A warior with a cape, a rogue with a long dark coat with a hood or even a sorecerer with a toga looks better than with normal clothes, no?

Clothes can serve also to \"protect\" the char in Cold regions... E.g.: If a char don t have any warmy clothes in a snow and freeze region, his Healt Points will begin to fall....

PLease think about it! It will be cool for everyone =)
thanks a lot, and I hope it was a good idea ;)

Clothes are a good thing

But there is one problem, there arent models for each race, how should there be models for clothing for each race

yes, but that is just temporarely because the game isn\'t finished yet. This is a wishlist what we would like.

I think it\'d be nice if we could customize our own clothes to a large extent. If as big or bigger than CoH. One of the great things about City of Heroes was the huge amount of customization you could take into your player\'s appearence. If  we were allowed that must customization into our character\'s appearance, I think that would be pretty awesome.

Good idea. Then there could also be a tailoring skill, for making clothes yourself. But for making clothes you will first need needles and thread. You obtain the thread by spinning wool. You get the wool from sheep. You can continue endlessly like this... Would give the game more depth though. To be honest, I think  the game has the depth of runescape rightnow, just with much better graphics (couldn\'t be worse, anyway). I hope they will place this on a high place on the to-do list, more possibilities like this would make the game more fun. Just take a look at the Roma Victor skill list... (http://www.roma-victor.com/game/skills.php)

And I thought PS was going to be a least amount of clothing, bikinis and the like, and more flesh.

Different clothes at this stage is a low importance to me, the basic character models for all the races is to me the most important, then world building and skills, then quests, followed by items and equipment, ending off with luxuries such as customized textures (models for some) for clothes and items.

We\'re also talking about when the game is nearly finished. Of course we don\'t want any other clothing right now, there are much more important tasks first.

I think that you should be able to buy clothes, or even get a hair or rock trime. It would really add to the experiance.

I really think that they are going to make clothes to the game later on. Now in the begining it isnt very impotant...
And i agree, clothes is an importand thing for rpgs, but now u cant even choose hairstyle or skin.

I hope I can design some clothes if they are going to add that option ^^

It will be much more indepth when it is finished.
According to the PS Mainsite you will be even able to play as commoner, or crafter, or politian or anything, without the need of fighting to gain experience.
Crafting will be implemented, Tailoring is crafting.
Ya have to know that this is Tech-Demo, Pre-alpha, something to evaluade the capabilities of the engine and the Devs are so kind to let us play at the early stages (well we are kind of testers).
Well TGTSNBN must be kinda horrible (never played it), It is full version and has the standard of a Tech Demo? Now I can imagine why it shall not be named.
When the 1.0 Version of PS comes out it will surely be a groundbreaking game in the (free?) MMORPG community.

The list of importance how I think of it:

1.Balancing and enhancing out what we currently have
4.Stability of server, etc.
3.Implementation of some of the not implemented skills (Martial Arts, etc.)
4.Crafting(Weapon-Smithing, bowying, Building, etc. pp.)
5.World Building
6.Klyros & Lemurs
7. Models for each Gender/race of those we have
8.Emotes and between player actions
9.Balancing out the reached status
10.Several new Weapons, Glyphs and misc item
11.Clothing and body armor
12.Crafting (Armor-smithing, Tailoring, Jeweling, etc. pp.)
13. [...]

First of all, thanks for the reply, but when it\'s a Pre-Alpha stage tech-demo, why do I see \"Open-Beta\" all over the place? As far as I know about PS, MB was the pre-alpha tech demo. CB is the beta tech demo, or something like that :P

EDIT: I don\'t really know what TGTSNBN is, but Runescape is the censoring for R.S.

TGTSNBN is a shortcut for Runescape.

Anyways u want character customization?? Look at that!

and that

U can make easily some skins yourself, and even change the clothing.

And if you either dont have the knowledge or the software contact me and i will probably make one for you.

P.S.: It is Pre-Alpha despite the site.

No not really, but it is a first step.
Title: Cloths are cool
Post by: Slagle on January 16, 2005, 06:02:52 am
If there were cloths I would get my dwarf some monk\'s rags. The cloths you wear should give u different bonuses. Like the lighter the cloths, the more flexable u are...maybe add a little dodge armor class...

some1 prolly already suggested this....i didnt read all the inputs

TGTSNBN wasn\'t always as bad.  In the begining it was good.  The community was nice, and everyone was mostly equal.  As time progressed, the \"Members,\" who paid $5 US currency per month began to get more and more and devoleped a superiority complex towards free players.  This was the begining of it\'s decline.  The company who produces TGTSNBN began to get greedy.  Originally for every update that frees got, members got one or two.  As time went on frees got less and less, and members got more and more, firmly creating an unintentional caste system.  The second version of TGTSNBN came out.  And it was good for the PR department because free players got about 7 things that members had held a monopoly on.  Then things got back into the normal swing.  Members had about 5 times the land and items and bank space and twice as many skills and abilities.  I think alot of people you see posting about paying for PS are conserned about this type of thing.  That is the story of TGTSNBN and the lack of nonmember anything is the reason that it is considered so pathetic, besides the race for levels that was discussed in the gamergod interview about PlaneShift and what it will not be.  Sorry for being off topic and long winded, but it needed to be said, so that people know what others are talking about with the game that shall not be named

I like the idea of clothes, but instead of losing hp when your not dressed for an environment, you should lose speed or stamina or something of the like.  Maybe, when your out of stamina in a cold you stop and you either need to cast a fire spell or drink something hot or just stand there and freeze to death.

well, if you really want a rolplaying game then I guess we need clothes, thats the only reason why I play anarchy online, because of the endless list of clothes. In real life you don\'t wear your clothes 24/7 and week after week. If you go to the sewer and hunt down some rats you wear armor and a sword, every player understands that one, but why in the Laanx temple? If you visit the temple you don\'t need weapons and armor but some nice pants or a skirt. There you want to impress your stupid neigbour or the lady you are in love with. Why not making a guard (guards) walking around in the city and letting people pay a fee for walking around in armor and with weapons?

I\'m not out to impress my girly in a skirt.

But yes I get what you mean,

Yesss clothes ! More clothes ! We need it done in a way it\'s in AO and other RPG\'s. I mean that every part of clothing should be visible. Shoes, helmet, sleeves, etc. That way we will have endless combinations and everyone will look different. What i hate most now is that everyone looks the same, except for weapons.
