Post by: Black_rose on January 09, 2005, 01:24:17 am
ummmmmmmmmmmmm, yeah. how do they work??? ?(

i know that not alot is known but how are they started and where do they lead out?

Uh, its Science Fiction, it doesn\'t work...

How does magic work?

It\'s theory, but theories are not much better than science fiction. But the fact still stands. Nothing is known about wormholes, we\'ve never even seen one.

Well I would say that they are some kind of two black holes sticked together.

How do wormholes work? well simple! THEY DON\'T! unless you are a trekky then i such case they exist as the main means of the borg assimilation movement as transwarp conduit outside of a star trek convention they are mearly scifi :P

ok this is one of those \"american tv generation people\" questions.

only in star trek i\'d say

hmm is the world round ?

First of all, I think they don\'t exist ;-) But here\'s the theory...

Imagine the entire universe as a flat area, with every large object making the area curve around itself slightly (because of the gravity).
Now, a black hole is massive, and the area around it is curved a lot.
Now, suppose 2 black holes curve the area a lot, and the two curved parts come together.
That way, you could go from one black hole to another (through a worm hole).

actualy wormholes are VERY possible i have seen one!! Darksied uses them all the time to try to kill superman! they are called \"boom tubes\" they are so cool! once darksied tried to send a huge brainwashing machine through one to get everybody to kill superman therefore i know they exist [/sarcasm] (seriosly some day darksied is gonna team up with brainiac and lex luthor and its gonna be on like donkey kong at that point >:D)

*backs away slowly*
*jumps in a wormhole to get away from Foresteer*

:P

you just hit your head on the floor! wormholes don\'t exist remember? hehe if i could split in two i probably would join you in hiding from myself O.O

And you are right i am crazy! green arrow/green lantern owns superman what am i talking about?! anyway back on topic

Reality > Wormholes :P

If the wormhole are 2 connected black hole, imagine these question before you launch rockets in wormholes.
1. what rocket is strong enough that it won\'t collapse in a black hole since a black hole is a point
2. since a black hole is a point what rocket is as large as a point? Maybe try it with radiation.
3. What radiation is faster than light? so they are able to get out of the other side.

Well, I think the 2 blackholes make a slingshot effect. And as one of them if squeezing it togeather the other is pulling it apart since there facing different ways. See?

EDIT, sorry to ask this here but whatever I do while making a thread it still says somthing is missing or somthing is incomplete. Id make a thread for this but, I can\'t :P Just PM me the solution if you have one. No need to ruin this thread.

but if 2 sides of the wormhole are \"sucking\" things in, does that mean things can escape ?

Black holes as a scientific aspect, are the most devastating things known to man.  Plus the make up of the universe we inhabit will not allow two black holes to be within the same space as each other...They would attract and repell each other at the same rate...
The gravatational pull of the black holes creates the \'spewing\' effect we know....  This is when the particles that have been attracted into the black hole are \'spewed\' out from the other side as a stream of particles.

Wormholes if they did work and exist are a controlled point of space and time; if space as we know could be \'folded\', an access point from one time to another is theroetically possible (Read Hawking).

Imagine a \'rift\' of space, where all potential aspects of space and time are exposed to that rift...If it is controllable then interplane travel through the space time constant should be possible.  Not including the radiation expose that will occur.
The problem behind this is that if two black holes were polarised to each other the matter which emerges is so dramatically changed it would not resemble the original matter.  Unless you count dust :D

Wormholes are just a singularity found in a math equation, it might exist, as it is a possible solution of that equation, as it could not exist just because every possible thing doesnt exist in the universe... we just dont know, but i swear i\'ll tell you if one appears in my living room !
