Post by: Harkin on January 13, 2005, 12:12:37 am
well seeing as i am new at the whole drawing thing, and since i am now in Drawing 1 i decided i can try to draw out nature sketches of PS, cause i love nature and i think i can draw it pretty well... so I will use this thread to get some help and critiques on my drawings as i draw them... well heres something i had been working on, an still am if you cant notice

so any idea? help? advice? please post it here and help me to learn to draw better! :D

i will be using the thumbnail versions to link to save the 56k\'ers and so that the forums dont stretch out that way -->

Not bad.  I\'m also in drawing 1 this semester (but I\'ve drawn a decent amount before).  If I draw anything cool I\'ll be sure to post it as well.  It looks nice for some sketches.

Tips:
-draw larger, not smaller (at least, if you want to get better, if you draw smaller its easier to hide the details you aren\'t adding)
-if you can find references make sure to use them, draw what you see, don\'t draw what it should look like, rather what it does look like, it\'ll look more convincing when you\'re done
-shading, we like shading (I know, it\'s a work in progress, you probably meant to put it in later)
-when you\'re just practicing don\'t use an eraser, don\'t even get it out, you\'ll spend more time drawing and less time erasing (plus it looks kinda cool when you\'re done)
-\"I\" is capitalized (that\'s not really a drawing tip, just forum courtesy :P)

Keep up the great work!

nice...but i prefer to press the pencil a little bit harder of the paper...

...it looks very contrast less...your drawings....I like the 50% 50%, ....50% Black and 50% White, when you ask me: contrast is a key...but\'s your choice... ;)

...but only line- or outline drawings can be cool...but then it has to be \"good\" lines...

...or its maybe the scan quality....

my scanner kills \'lighter\' lines in favor of the dark ones... in reality all those drawings have nice dark lines :\\

blame lexmark...

and really Im not worried about the first 2, they were the first, no now I have other things that look a lot better.
