Title: Web space?!
Post by: Owl on January 13, 2005, 12:34:04 am
I am looking for free (yes you read correctly) providers where you can make a site.

I know of yahoo geocities but i was wondering if anyone knows any good alternatives, perhaps something similar that has a pagebuilder or something.

Thanx. :)

I think geocities is the only way to go. That is unless someone who was nice enough to let you setup a page on their own space for free. Thats pretty doubtfull though.

geocities is EVIL! (sorry to contradict you so bluntly Kixie, but heh.) try cjb.cc, when they are up, and look here: http://www.free-webhosts.com/power-search.php

There was a time a long time ago when you could get free internet and free webspace. Now its either heavily restricted upon or full of banner ads and popups. :(

The only suggestion I could offer is to see if your ISP offers you a webspace as part of the package.. mine does and its probably the best one I possibly have.

http://www.freepgs.com

25mb free, unlimited bandwidth, great for hosting pictures or a small website.  The downside is it is all ftp and there is no pagebuilder.  \'Course, you can always just get the mozilla WYSIWYG (comes with firefox I believe) which I\'ve heard is ok and you can ftp with IE (a real ftp program is recommended, but IE can do it -> http://ftp://username:password@ftp.freepgs.com).

Well many thanx for all the info but the downside is, i am not very good at making sites so i would most likely need a pagebuilder but i will look into all the information you offered!

Thank you! :)

For pagebuilders you could look into frontpage for the basics, or dreamweaver for more advanced. :)

http://www.beplaced.com   sign up with them to get your web space i recommend them because of no ads and good speed. also its strait ftp ide suggest useing frontpage to build site.

after that go to http://www.co.nr for a nice free redirect. there service is important because no one wants to have to remember a two sentence long web address.
