I think that
1. There should be fishing! And you can catch special fish (like a 8 pound catfish) that you can hold in your weapon slot to brag to your friends! Or just fishing!
2. We need a rest system! Whenever you stay in a tavern, you get rested after a while. The more you\'re rested, the more experience you get! (You stay in a tavern for 2 hours, you get 150% normal experience or something)
3. During the holidays, there should be special holiday items (Like at Christmas, you might have snowballs that you can throw at each other, or candy canes and gingerbread men that you can cook (if there\'s a cooking skill))
These are some of the things that made other games I had played extremely fun. See also my topic called Homelands! for another (I think) great idea.
P.S. I\'m not sure how hard this would be to do at this point, but I think there should be alliances. Like say Dwarves, Elves, Humans, and whatnot belong to one alliance, and the Stone-golem thingys, Demony thingys, and other people belong to another alliance, and they\'re like different teams. This may sound stupid, but it might just work.

Yup you got every single idea from Kal :P
1. Fishing is ok but not needed right now. Id rather have other stuff put in first. And I dont want it overcrouded like kal\'s is.
2. No, only encourages power lvling
3. I like the snowball things :) snow fights at christmas :)
-
Kal? Never heard of it. I based these off of WoW. And the rest system shouldn\'t be too catostrophic. It worked out fine in WoW, but i\'m not sure how different the experience systems are ?

I think you need to be original. PS isn\'t WoW, and that\'s it.
As for the snowball thing... Where would you find snow? The temperature inside the stalagmite doesn\'t vary a lot, and it certainly doesn\'t drop below the freezing point.
Besides, the people of PS don\'t celebrate the same holidays as we do. It\'s in a completely diffrent world. You have to remember that.
-
Well We could make muck battles.
-
Or use pick axes to carve off little chunks of Kran and throw them at each other :D
-
gronomist if it dosent get cold enough for snow why is there the born in a snowstorm option in character creation?
-
nice question, and I\'ll answer that :
While the cave Hydlaa is located in is not too cold and does not see too many temperature variations, this does not stop other caves from being in a permanent winter state with ice on the walls and snow storms, remember you can have as many environments as caves and there are many caves.
Besides with magic you can do what you want be it fire or ice.
-
Why would u want to do that? HOW could you do that? your char would actually have to sleep while others play...or every1 would have to sleep at the same time...
fishing is a cool idea....
i think a dwarven brewery would be better....we need our ale....
if there is a dwarven brewery...plz tell me!
im a newb so i dont even know if there is ale...but if there is that would be cool... after drinking alot of them your char could get stupid and fatigued...but more flexable lol
srry for talking about ale..i might have broken a forum chat rule

With fishing we could have a new dig command... /dig for worms. hehe. Not a bad idea. people would be able to get some relief from the monotony of farming rats.
Not that original, since EQ, SWG, WoW, and Kels, All have fishing, but it works, right? So why not.
Rest is absolutely necessary, you could have /rest, /camp, and bars, and hotels where rest would be automatic when entering. Another form of regeneration, when battling mobs outside would be foraging for herbs that have healing qualities, this could also restore mana, or magic energy.
And no resting doesn\'t encourage power levelling.
/rest would cause a slower healing rate than the rest, but you would be able to see what\'s going on around you.
/camp would be a place that would be a little safer in hostile territories. Camps would have a timeout. If you left your camp for an extended period of time it would disappear, likewise it would be \"abandoned\" and disappear if you left the zone. Another benefit of camps would be that you could respawn there if you died before it had timed out.
Holiday events would be cool. Or any gm sponsored events in general, these are fun, and make you feel part of a community.

I think it would be fun to be able to have \"snowball fights\" with friends just for something to do outside of working or fighting. There are ways to take a break from reality in RL, so since an RP is almost \"RL\" outside RL, then why not a break from not so reality of an RP. I guess it\'s kind of a minigame, but whatever...:D

I was under the impression that there were going to places were snow happened in PS besides you can always summon a large snowball with a Blue-Way spell, maybe there are powerfully but crazy NPC Blue-way mages that sit on top of mountains/sides of the cavern wall conjuring blizzards or whatever.
It says in the settings page:The year is subdivided into four seasons only because of the cultural heritage of the people coming from the surface and the observation of the cyclic phenomena of vegetable growth. During the twenty-four periods of the year, the Crystal\'s azure light varies marginally, helping to reinforce the different periods.
The Ylians could have come from a place called \"Earth\" were they celebrated various holidays such as \"Christmas\" ect. & that\'s why they have 4 seasons, when they could have had 5 or more on other planets or whatever. & you still haven\'t described how we can\'t find any snow & yet you can be \"born in a snowstorm\".
I think the brewery would be nice, it may help Grono loosen up a bit, but I would rather have fishing as a job as an alternative to mining for us non-dwarven folk...
I guess there could be different places in PS that are strong in different ways of magic such as Blue way can be top of a mountain you can do certain quests to get certain rare Blue-way Glyphs, & since it\'s so strong in the blue way there it always snows, sometimes the snowstorms travel down the mountain but usually the snow turns to rain before reaching the ground... then it can snow every once in a while, it could be a special event.
Special events are a must! they are fun as well as rewarding & expect a big turnout if the news of one gets out....

so why not creating somethings to celebrate in specific to PS ?
PS : could you tell me when were cb and mb released ?
-
i think there was another thread about holiday drops and stuff where i suggested big celebrations on 11 july as that was when PS started (2000)
@Fken: CB was released on 24 december

People could get exp of snowball fighting!

You\'re almost correct. :)
The cave isn\'t Hydlaa. Hydlaa is a city within the cave we call Yliakum. Yliakum is basically the whole PS world, minus the surface, which will be added in the faaaaar future (many many years from now). Now, races didn\'t come from Yliakum originally... most of them were brought here by the gods, Talad and Laanx. Thus, you may have been born during a snowstorm on your own world, before coming to Ylaikum for whatever reason.
Either that, or Darkmoon just forgot about the snow stuff. :P

hum... yeah off course I know that... but does 24 december -25 december mean nothing for you ?
new PS version is everytime released during holidays and even during evenment like Christmas...
Whats that ? July 11th ? Oh please if you do that I dont want to celebrate american evenement... Please think about international evenement like Christmas... or creating new evenement specific to ps could be a VERY good idea... see roleplaying for once...

Holiday items seem to be a good idea aslong as they arent special and permanent, like a mask for halloween,if that is a holiday to be celebrated. RS did that and it vlew up in their face. Snowball fights would be cool, and hey, who said there weren\'t any powerful NPC wizards who could conjure up some snow in the middle of town for the younglings amusment.

correct! it has already been mentioned there will no special items like that, the PS world doesnt celebrate the same holidays, thats why there are different months, they dont celebrate halloween, so no masks, got it?
