Title: updater:not working

I have Ps loaded and i try to update and all i get is \"downlading registry\".After a while it stil does nothing and i click update again and it says \"downlading registry\" again. Is there a problem with it or the computer?

no, the server is jsut unreachable. Mean its offline, i just figured that one out myself. Wait a small while, like a few hours, if not then, wait until tommorrow. The server may be abck up then. Maybe its jsut restarting the server machine. it takes a LONG time to reset server machines to make themrun at optimal performance.

Ya salso with that i can only get Fragnattics and everytime i downlaod Ps i keep getting the older version instead of the newer one.Why is that?

well then thats when you run the updater, of course. However...Fragnattics, while it is currently now getting Ping, is still down from the updater, for some weird reason. Patience though, i just downloaded it and im eager to give it a shot.

Then that leads to my last question. How come when i try to update,It says\"cannot connect to lannax mirror\"?

thats what im talking about. The updater server is down still. So its just a matter of waiting. Check every now and then or completly wait until tommorrow to give it another shot.

The fragnetics server has a ping, because it\'s the game server. The updater server is offline today, not the game server.

The updater server is not down. Maybe you just have some dns resolution trouble?

if its not down, than there quite a lot of people have sudden dns problems all at the same time...

just look out in the forum... i think i\'ve seen already 4 threads about this single topic.

I think its because those people have Dsl(I do) but my friend has been playing for a while and he has Dsl.

maybe it is the Dns and wait na it cant cause i ussaly have my firewall off when i play games can someone help me and i have DSL does that do anything

I didn\'t read all the post about the server being down but I can tell you from todays experience with the game.  The admins have been taking the game down and restarting the server off and on today for maintainence.  Perhaps this is why some have not been able to get on as yet.  Just bad timing.

EVERYONE SAYS THE SERVER WILL BE UP TOMMORW SO I GOT HELP THEY COULDNT HELP ME IT SAYS IT CONNECTING BUT it wont and im really mad the server wont be up tommorow this is so dumb

I don\'t want this thread to start sounding like a broken record but I just to make sure that the update server (Laanx) is down for today but WILL be up tommorrow ?(as I too am having the same problems)

Laanx server is up, I can connect on it over the web, I can also browse the repository.

But if you look at the updater log file, you can see that he\'s trying to download \"repository.zip\", which is currently not on the server. He\'s replaced by a \"repository.zip_dont_update\" file.

So I think it\'s because they are doing some modifications for the next update, that\'s why they block updating...

Now the question is : how long ? ^^

Edit : Mmmmm, maybe we can try the previous update version. ;)

Do this : go into your planeshift folder and open the file \"updaterconfig.xml\". Then, find the line     repository.zip\" files=\"\" passphrase=\"psteam:p1ane\" />

and replace it by

    repository.zip.old\" files=\"\" passphrase=\"psteam:p1ane\" />
   
Update will now work, but I\'m not sure the version will be good... Let\'s try ! ^^

I don\'t know much about servers and coding but if we do what nanothehobbit is suggesting won\'t that create problems when they do add the newer update in a way that we won\'t be able to download that one?
EDIT:I don\'t think it will let you change the script.... at least it won\'t on my PC.

works :) ...the reason we\'re not supposed to update is because of the client not the artwork right? so downloading the art should be fine...

EDIT: Hey Nonothehobbit, you said you looked in some log file to find the new file name...where is this log?

Hi,

I don\'t know if it\'s a good idea to receive the update files while the Devs are working on it (they won\'t make it impossible for nothing). While I need a complete reinstall of the game, I decided to do the update. It\'s the second run now, the first time I got a memory allocation error at 4%. Otherwise be patient, like some people said already.

this is realy annoying me now i\'ve seen loads of threads about this but all of them from last night said that the servers would be back up tommorow NEWSFLASH IT IS TOMMOROW AND THEY STILL AREN\'T WORKING so if they say the same thing today we\'re less likely to believe them but they\'ll say it again so before this ends in a loop can we just define when the servers will be up because

I was really looking forward to playing this game especially after it took 2hours to download, my connection resets and I have to wait another 2 hours.  Unfortunately also when I go onto the updator it says unable to connect to laanx server and then does nothing.  I have read past threads and waited a few days with no improvement.  I am starting to lose my patience.  
Sumone HELP???

Yes, it works well with \"repository.zip_dont_update\". :)

The log file is in the same folder, it\'s simply named \"updater.txt\". ;)

There\'s also a log file for the game, named \"psclient\".

I think if developpers didn\'t want us to modify the game configuration, they wouldn\'t make this so easy to do (sorry for my bad english ^^\').

It\'s also a good way to tweak the game and make it run a little bit faster because it\'s veeeeeeeeeeery slow. :\'(

now i tried and the server is not down!
i finish the download of a newer updater and then ask to restart the updater and wnhen i click update
begin the download registry
and when finish says that i have a newer version than the server
and when i click launch ps the game doesnt open
when i went to ps setup it doesnt open too
apear an error and i have to close the program
what is the problem?
