This forum doesn\'t move very quickly.  Note that there have been few replies to any threads in the past hour or so.
No-one\'s here right now.  The replies & comments will come, just give it time.

I like it! Though you may want to scale down that Fishman image, it\'s much too big for the eyes. I\'d also recommend cleaning up some of your lines, to make it all appear neater :) Though I have to say, the Fishman is definitely my favorite. Keep doing anatomical studies, and you\'ll achieve an even greater realism.

*edited to add*

Not all of those members will be looking through the same part of the forum, m\'dear. Not all of those would be present at their computer. Just have patience.

Sketching from life will definitely help with body structure. Do studies of separate parts, like an arm, or leg, or chest, or pelvic region. The more you draw, the better you\'ll be - divine truth ;) Draw from photographs as reference, if nothing else is available. Though I have to add that using another work as a reference is meant for such studies only. Try starting by sketching out a stick-figure, but in proportion (http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/body/stick1.gif), then add the mass of the flesh as you go. If you have a correct base for your characters, you\'ll often have a better result.

But i don\'t like to use shaps to draw off but?

...Er? Unless I misunderstood your post...

It\'s a great way of getting your proportions right, so I highly recommend you use it. A lot of professionals still stick to this method even when they can create flawless pieces from scratch. If you only do what you like in art, you won\'t be a successful artist. Trust me on this one. Basic shapes can really help out when you are learning to set up the body properly, and you\'ll really benefit from it. But it\'s your choice, I am just offering advice as a fellow artist.

Hmmm... have to agree with the Karyuu here... Clean lines can really make or break your artwork. Do some line work and experiment in some shading and you could push out some serious stuff.  :O

Ok then i\'ll try it out then.   But from a 1 to 10 what are my drawings tell the truth.

Look, I hate to keep telling you this Soulless, but PLEASE stop double/triple posting! I sent you a PM earlier today, which explains what this means and how to stop doing it. You\'re not a bad guy, so I feel bad to be deleting your posts all the time because you havn\'t bothered to read what I keep telling you.

Well, you wanted critism, so thats what you\'ll get...
First of all the elf looks too skinny and masculine to be a woman. Exspecially the face is too rough and blocky...

Well, then to the armored man....well.....he also looks skinny, but thats propably the fact his head is too big. Exspecially the way the armor goes makes him look like he hasn\'t eated in three days.

Now, i really like that living armor! It looks great as its missing parts, and its weaponry looks fine too.

well....im not saying a thing to those two.....

Aaaha, cauth you! You finally drawed a person that isnt starving...Yes, i like the water man(or what ever it is)

Thx finaly someone that can tell the TRUTH! Lol thx ill try not to draw  them to thin again. i knew the heads were to big but i never knew they were to thin. But now that you told me i can work on it.

Why can\'t you say a thing about the last two?
Title:
Post by: Cyperoh on January 21, 2005, 05:17:39 pm
well, i certainly can.

for first the dwarf on the first one looks nice and the face has some nice deatail, also i like the way the fingers go, but yet again his head is too big, or the other body should be bigger...and the axe.....it really doesn\'t look to be attached to the\"stick\" its suposed to be in.. Hmmm, the creature is nice....

And then.......the picture of 3 different perspectives...
So, first of all..... you have the man stright from front, the ledge he\'s standing from up, and the background from down front(almoust the same as the man, but litle bit lower down).....And......the man should be almous half so long that he is now....his legs should end about there where his chest is.....if compared to that how thick and big his feet are.....well, at least the face is good, and the hair goes almoust like it should, thou litle more to right.....

Owerall, you have potential to become a very good artist. My advice would be to concentrate on anatomy and perspectives. Since, you seems to draw the people only from two perspectives, and those are straight front, and straight left...Also, get more practice on faces and emotions, they make the pictures more alive....

And sorry if i sound like a prick....
Title:
Post by: Soulless_Body on January 21, 2005, 09:51:47 pm
No you don\'t sound like one. And it\'s good that your telling the truth. That mean i can get better. I mean how am i go\'ing to get better if people keep saying i\'m really good when i\'m not that good.

And i do wan\'t to get a job with something to do with art someday. And it did not help that i get REALLY lazzy with my drawings last year. Now i have to catch up.

I can\'t help but to think how good i would have been if i did not get lazzy with it last year? Like last year i only done one drawing a month!!!!
Title:
Post by: Cyperoh on January 22, 2005, 04:00:51 pm
You know...its lazy, and i draw too, and i had about a 6 month break on drawing last year, And still had advanced on it. That was because i had been seeing more people, other peoples drawings and reading comics (they have nice angles of perspectives, and about normal anatomy.....now speaking from american/european comics. Not manga, thou some of them have realistic body structure too...thou, not on women....(well, it isn\'t  very realistic on the western comics either))....So, i say, read comics, draw more....go to library and search an anatomy book.........

By the way, its hard to think of something to draw....

a thing whit the water mans left hand fingers is that they are wrong angle compared to the hand  the hand, they look broken to me.

Im gona try to get some art up myself but our scanner is crap and wont work :P

The art is lookin really good... i do good to draw stick figures though!!! but i think that they are good in detail... i dont really care about the darker lines though aslong as they dont blend with the background :-D

I like the work you do with shadows(accurately portraying them and using them to define features) though i think a little work could be donw on details..

keep up the good work

The Prick is back.

Now, as i haven\'t commented your works on this site earlier(simply the fact i didn\'t find them; they were so low on the list), i do it now.

the first link seems to be down, so i cannot say anything from that.

On the second picture the body structure is about the right it should be. Though, people have an are between the \"sixback\" and their back...get what i mean? Then his head is slight too big, but not as big it is on earlier pictures.

Then to the orc fighter, or whatever he is. The whole area between his chest and waist is too thin, it should be wider from the back side. The hand holding the sword is bit strange, and yet again, his head is way too big.

this guy...there are two possiplities: A) you wanted him to have that big head, or B) you didn\'t suckseed making the body enough big and/or you ran out of space for it. the face has nice detail, though you all the people seem to have that plank expression(exept one).

Aha......is this a WC 3 scene where is arthas killing his past comrades? It has one fatal mistake in it: the torso is too short for his head. Normally the torso is 3 times as long as the head is (neck is not calculated to torso, neither is pelvis).

Good work soulles body, i like this picture. The colouring is nice, and the sad expression is greatly done (i like it whole lot better than the plank one you have on all the others).

This other arthas here has all his body smaller than his head, wich ruins the picture.

Now this one. I like the shadows and the cape, but the thing i dont like is that his legs are just too short, and i can tell you weren\'t making an caricatyre from it.
look the picture so that you only see to there where his hand is. There, there is the spot where the picture goes frong. There is where his legs should start! Legs are 4 times the lenght of head + the feet. by the way, the feet have the same pose as you always do.

Well, the inc pictures are pretty nice.....just..what are they?

Well, i see you have advanced a bit, and just keep advancing.

Oh, forgot, im thinking to make an own thread and add some of my own art. Then you\'l see how this prick who thinks he knows something about drawing, draws his sorry excuses that he cals as artwork.

I don\'t know why but when i draw dfor school i do better? But when i draw for my self i seem to not do as good? Do you want to see some stuff i did for school?
Title:
Post by: Cyperoh on April 03, 2005, 02:35:12 pm
hmmmm, well, after all this is YOUR art thred, it\'y you to decide what you want to put in here and what not.
If you Do decide to post your shcool work here i\'l look into it.

For me its sometimes quite the opposite. Normally i draw the ones just for fun better than the ones at shcool( because all the school works aren\'t so interesting, so i don\'t conrentrate on them so much).
