Ouch... Windows ME and 256mb RAM? Two of your problems are right there, my friend.

I would suggest running the game\'s Updater first. If that doesn\'t work, the only thing I can think of is get a proper Windows version and buy some more RAM. :)

you dont have the correct error to save the file.

RAM is the memory your comp can handle at once, limiting the amount of programs running at one time
my comp has 512 mb ram and lovely intell celeron
gotta love this thing

See what i mean about decency? and poor spelling ;) it is a beta or alpha actually so be prepared to have trouble!

Yep, its just a Alpha program. You can\'t really even call it a game. If your not one to test games and software. Maybe you should come back when it almost or ready for the public release. And no software works the same from computer to computer. Anyway maybe someone should put up on the MOTD about the game just being tested or not finished because it seems like a lot of people are jsut downloading and not reading a thing.

256mb ram....ack, with that you should be able to run one word-processing program at a time....as long as your browser isn\'t open. :D

Seriously though...
WinXP = 128mb ram usage(system hog)
Background programs = 128mb ram usage
You have 0mb ram to run PS with.

PS requires about 450mb to run itself, in this alpha form.

I have win98 SE - it uses about 32mb ram, and due to my 1337 computer skills, I am able to disable every process I don\'t need, leaving my 512mb with 480mb free, more than enough for PS.(as long as I don\'t keep my browser open)

I played the MB version in a Athlon K7 with 512MbRAM but Crystal blue uses ~250Mb of my Gig RAM.

If you insist in running it in that machine you should free disk space and raise Pagefile as much as you can ... and even so i doubt it to be possible.

Mystic Arbiter: It\'s not a good idea to take out your \"bad mood\" on people you\'re asking help from. Be a little more polite and understand that this is a free, volunteer-run project with no funding and it is in ALPHA stage development. Sometimes things won\'t work. Boo hoo. Just chill, please.

I\'ve heard the dbghelp.dll reported problem somewhere before. Try running a search.

I have a P4 (2.5) with 512 Meg RAM using WindowsXP Pro that is producing a similar problem. I get about half way through the world load and it tells me it can\'t find \"dbghelp.dll\" and in a few seconds it autocloses the message and goes back to the OS without asking to make a dump file. But the file was there in the PS dir. Then when I try it, at the same time in the world load, it gives me a visual basic error indicating an illegal exit call. This is even after the most recent update(2004/02/01 files).

What is quite frustrating about this is that it was working just fine until a recent update a few days ago.

But I don\'t normally run it on that system so it hasn\'t been a big deal but is handy at times. So according to the rest of this thread, I don\'t have enough memory?

What I\'d really like to know is how you managed to clear the Win98SE down to just 32 Meg RAM usage. I boosted mine to 1 Gig because it was too jittery with only 512 Meg and I wanted to use the \'load all maps\' feature as well but now when I do that, I\'m back to Jittery again. I remove all background processes but the memory manager (Cacheman), leaving me with about 100 meg used. But systems can be different and all my systems are on a network so....

I suppose I could tell the memeory manager to keep finding memory till it can\'t (or the computer crashes).

I have 256 of lowly DDR. :P
*starts to sing* Oh and I ... I will survive, for as long ... :D

Having at least of 500MB swap is needed though, especially if you multitask.
