how about a test that is maditory to take in order to play, it would have around 25 short multi choice/true, false/ match thing with definition (like,
thing= A definition= first letter of alphabet)
you wil need at least a 90 to play the game. this will increase knowledge of the game and encourage players to read the player guide. in turn their will be less \"what is magic, where do iget weapons?? what is the most ub3r l337 item?\" (http://img169.exs.cx/img169/2002/bigsmilelizardface3eh.gif)

You will have to explain better if we are to understand what you are trying to say. I am against a test that, if you fail, you won\'t be allowed to play. You aren\'t supposed to know too much about a game before you play, or you would\'t play it. I do support a way of shunning people who don\'t bother to try to learn about the game.

well, if you fail, you must re-take the test. this is supposed to fore knowledge on the people so they do not ask \"where is the store\" or \"who is laanx\"

I like it, but not until the linkdead problem is understood and repaired. Imagine being on the last question and getting LinkDead...
-
i understanf that :] i just wanna get rid of the questions, that is one of the bigger problems, although the biggest is of course beggers ;)

You only go link-dead when the server crashes, the linkdead problem in MB was fixed in CB, just if the server crashes everyone goes linkdead...
What I would like is when the server crashes, the client tells you \"The server is down, attempting to reconnect...\" & when the server comes back up, the client logs you can in & you can continue your game. This will also help people in Char creation when the server goes down, the client will try to re-connect to the server...

This is a little off topic, but really? I haven\'t been able to get on in a while, so I didn\'t know the linkdead problem had been fixed. The last time I was on for a substancial period of time, I got linkdead, but that was awhile ago...
Back on topic. I think that the only problem with a quiz is that it might stop some people from joining if they have too much trouble with the quiz. After so many tries alot of people would give up. Therefore the quiz would have to be concise and based on only the most relevant information, like commands, and Yliakums history.

So before they can play the game, they are supposed to know where the store is?

I wonder?
Seeing as there isn\'t a full map yet, that\'s a little bit too hard.
While I would like to remove the i337 ppl from the game, the problem with a test is that if it is hard enough for people to fail- remembering that nobody is born lite and is probably of normal intelligence it will screen out only perfectly good players who simply don\'t know about the game they are starting to play. The 1337 will just download the answers before they sit the test.
A test would also be fairly uniteresting work for a dev - would you rather add more cities than write tests.

@ Icefalcon,
it would be in the player guide.
@ swift
yes i would rather a test first. then they would not have to be spending all this time on filters if the people who can not play. and as i think i said earlier, the questions would be randomized (so the test would never be the same) and if the dled the answer, they would have to copy it into context bye hand thus aqquiring the knowledge anywase ;)
