ok, this title isnt too appropriate, but I really wonder:
last time I played, I was killing rats fine (Im still a new char w/o any equip, just earning money for a pickaxe).
but with 3.006 - WHAM! I get killed by rats waaaay too fast.
If things run really well, I can maybe take 25% off the rats hp before I die.
If I may ask: what is going on? no money -> no items. no items -> no kills. no kills -> no money?
hows this supposed to go?
is this a bug or do we need groups to bring down rats now? sorry but I dont get it :/
-
some of the rats are glitched, this is a known glitch.
-
yeah its been around for awhile tho i may say it is rather humorous after having killed 40 of things to have one come along and 3 hit you :D
-
Some rats are stronger than the others. I think it depends from the spawn point (from where in the sewers they are).

You can get money in other ways too
-
yeah, I read about some being glitched, but so far 3 out of 3 rats took me out in no time :/
@androgos: what other ways are there to earn cash? mining, yeah, but I need trias for a pickaxe first :P
-
You can do some quest.

as to the different types of non-glitched rats...(ary mentioned this earlier)
if you right click them and click on the eye symbol(the one the brings up a description of whatever you have selected) the descriptory text is different for each type of rat for example the weakest rats simply say \"a rat named rat...a one eyed rat\" while another stronger type says \"a rat named rat...a vigorous one eyed rat\"
so new players look before you go stabbing something and if you run into what you think is a glitched rat (or as i call them an uber rat of doom)...RUN!RUN FAST!AND DONT LOOK BACK IT ONLY SLOWS YOU DOWN!

In my opinion, this adds to realism.
Some monsters are more heavily trained then others, we cant expect for all monsters to fight at the same level.
-
But theyre rats....rats dont train.
-
Hopefuly this will be fixed when the wipe occurs.

But they grow, As they grow they get bigger fangs, longer claws, and a bigger body for endurance
-
This is because certain rats are more powerful than others.. its a way to reward higher level newcomers with more exp.. (Insted of geting 5 or 10 they get 20 or 25)
-
Rats get old and DIE. They don\'t grow with huge claws/fangs/etc. Gobbles are much better exp for me than rats, I get like 55 or 60 each..
-
Gobles are good for exp but not for items...Although i one time got 50 trias from one :))

rats get immune for swords :P

The only ways to kill a rat are:
1.blowing them up (works everytime)
2.sticking a bit of chees into their A.. and whatching them eating up themselves :D
and of course to lure one up to a rogue:D (poor Rogue)

Yeah, I got my but kicked all too many times by these uber rats and I know I\'m playing a lv 1 character but come on Uber Rats. Ok maybe If I just stand there and let them chew on my legs and feet they could do some serious damage but it\'s a frickin rat you should be able to step on the thing and kill it.
Does one of the dev\'s a deep laden fear of Rats?
Is this his rat nightmare?
With the damage that these uber rats are throwing out by comparison they should be three feet tall with six inch fangs.
It\'s kinda like the bunny rabbit in Monty Pythons Quest for the Holy Grail.
-
Well what you talk about is a mouse,
I just say that I would rather avoid a meeting with a grown up canal-rat.

Rats can get that big. And in real life, they can form packs, typically the biggest oldest rat being the leader. And they can get as big as cats, just depends on the type of rat they are.

beleive it or not...rat bites HURT!
ALOT! and ive heard of them getting as big as smallish-medium dogs... anyways have you ever been ganged by like eight of them? not to mention the rats in game are like a third the size of my char (im a dwarf) so id say a rat that big is quite capable of killing your average Dwarf(yliaan, ywnn, enkidukai, kran, what have you)
but yeah as i said earlier make sure you look at the descriptions the weakest rats have this description \"a male rat named rat...a one-eyed rat\" if your just starting and have no weapons etc. avoid all the other types(ATM i beleive there is just one other type(unless you count glithed rats as a type))
