Title: Server Issues

I just downloaded and setup the WinXP Client and when I go to login it says the server is down or unreachable. Can anyone help me or can a dev confirm this?

Steps I followed -
I)download installer
II)install PlaneShift
III)run the updater
IV)configure settings with setup utility
V)create account
VI)verify account
VII)update password
VIII)run client
IX)atempt to login
X)get error message

If anyone knows anything please reply.

You seem to have done everything right all i can think of is that the server was down or that the connection timed out, meaning your ping was too high, maybe.

did you try to connect Localhost? ;)
make sure Laanx is highlighted

(and that laanx has a valid ping ofcource)

Thanks guys... I am now up and running! Now all I have to do is create myself a character. One thing I would like to know is what do you consider a valid ping?

I -WAS- up and running... as I was creating my character the server went \"linkdead\" and when I tried to reconnect both localhost and lanxx said \"Wait\" then proceded to say \"Fail\"...

I am having the same problem d34th_r3c0n was. Sometimes when I try to start the game Laanx is not working, but if it is working then I can connect for about a minute or so, then it says the server is linkdead and I am unable to reconnect to it. I have been unable to get past the character creation area, but I checked with the player\'s guide and FAQs forums and I think I did everything correctly. Does anyone else have this problem or know what is causing it?

Well, after several more attempts I was able to get through, but then after about 10 minutes a Server Admin said that they were shutting it down for testing, so maybe that was why I had trouble before. I would still like to know what other people think the problem I was having might have been though.

For anyone reading this who has had a similar problem, there is a discussion in the Technical problems forum about the \"linkdead\" message. I did not go there until after I had seen this forum thread though, or I would have started there. Again, I would still like to know what other people who have not been to the other forum thread might think the problem is.

Your not really alone here. The server seems to have been up and down a lot in the past few days due to changes they are making. I am hoping for more stability in the near future, as the devs work frantically to get it all sorted out. Just be patient and keep trying. :)

Thanks Neocuda, I will indeed give it a while (maybe a day or two) and then try again. I have read in recent news and forums that they are making some big changes, so it will probably get better in the near future.

like i said earlier... i was able to finally get it up and running and past the char creation... Zaulche, try running the updater  a couple of times in a row and try shutting down your machine for a few minutes... that helped my issues

Well ive never gotten that kind of response to my name before... like i said in my earlier post my name is Handir Dedrion... I use D34TH_R3C0N in games like Halo and other games like that... my fantasy game name is Handir Dedrion
