Hi everyone,
the problems on updater and psclient we experienced in the last 24 hours are now fixed.

Please use updater now. If it crashes, just reinstall the full exe from any version (004,005,006) and then launch updater.

I tried this 3 times now, and still no go. The new updater still crashes.

reinstall the PS client first then run updater

Way to go devs for fixing the updater!

Is there an easier way to update besides reinstalling cause im on 56k and i have original version of crystal blue and if i reinstall ill have to update like 40mb worth of stuff. If not more like all night downloading besides all night playing

if you deleted the installer after you used it to install CB, then yup, downloading at 56k can take a while.


I have unintalled CB, and reinstalled 004, several times
and when I run the updater, it tells me I need to restart it, and when I do it crashes.    I cleared all residual files & directories before re-installing, including the temp directory

I knew I shoulda installed this on my Linux box, it\'d probably work fine.

right, i uninstalled PS.
but now i wanna download it again, but page doesnt work.
does anybody has an solution for this problem..?

Well, it\'s like the updater problems will never end.
I just updated my PS installation and there was no problem, right now I can enter the game.

But I tried to re-run the updater a few minutes after and the updater crashed, Windows asking me to send a report to Microsoft.
I couldn\'t see any error message from the updater itself.
I restart my computer, re-run the updater a couple of times but it\'s always crashing...

But well at least we\'ll be able to play this WE. :)

Same here, the client and the setup program are running like a charm, but the updater still crashes...  Another problem with the updater???

i hate to say this, but its happening to me, i can play the game fine, but the updater just crashes everytime i run it... other that no problems :) ...

updated to newest version, but if a new version comes out i\'ll need to reinstall

already reinstalled once after the problem came up, still there

ill be patiently waiting :)

ermmm i reinstall the game and try to update again but it still crashes after the 1st updating part.

I completely obliterated all traces of PS other than the installer from my hard drive, and it gave me no problems at all other than taking forever for eraser to run :)  Thx for the help

Home Edition XP seems to be having a bit \'o the problem with the Updater... my guess is that the updater is missing something, and our comps think that thats an error. At any rate, it is annoying, because in order for me to re-update the game, I have to uninstall it, then run the updater, then hope that the problem is fixed... no luck so far, however, the game runs fine for me, and only the updater is the problem, thank you Lord. Alright now... back to playing my game....

I have run into a similar problem with the updater on Win98SE. There is an old fix for this that is published in these forums that worked for me.

You have to run the updater in a DOS window that is opened from the Planeshift folder. From the DOS prompt use the following command:

updater --auto

If you need further help, dig though the forums for more info on this.
