Okay, so I opened the updater and it went through its replacing old files thing, then when It says that its going to try to open the new launcher, it says that it has performed an illegal operation or that it needs to close.

I really dont know why and I really want to play this game!!! please help!!!

Try executing updater.exe --auto in the planeshift directory. To do this;

Right click on \'planeshift updater\' shortcut in the start menu.
Click Properties.
In the \'Target\' box, add --auto to the end of what is already in there without disturbing the existing contents. It should look something like:

\"C:\\Program Files\\Planeshift Crystal Blue\\Updater.exe\" --auto

Note the space between what was already in there and the \'--auto\' you appended.
Now attempt to run the updater again.

does it matter if the updater is not in program files but in a different folder. I have done the --auto thing bug it still says an error has ocurred and asks me if I want to send error report or dont and debug.

DrunkenPimp: That\'s because you didn\'t make a shortcut.  You are right-clicking on the actual updater.exe.  You need to use a shortcut.

Kornega: Could it be that you are trying - -auto instead of --auto?

rnaster: No, it can be in any folder.  If it still won\'t work then the updater probably isn\'t the problem and I probably can\'t help you. :P

YEHHAAA! SHE WORKS!! (refering to your tip) Ahhhh.  Much better.  All you have to do is right click the icon of the original updater and click \"create shortcut\".  The updater goes into command prompt style, but it still works.  Ah...i love command prompt. ;)

Nevermind, found the solution on the thread.

Replaced the files that were not being updated...by downloading the current version.  That fixed the problem. Now I can test once again!
