Title: How to connect?
Post by: Harold Shea on February 12, 2005, 12:07:32 pm
I\'ve downloaded and installed the client programme for windows. The files are fully updated and I have registered properly. However, when I try and connect to the server I keep getting the message \'This server is not running or is not reachable\' . How on earth do I connect to a server that is running and reachable? Any help is gratefully received.

Are you trying to connect to \"Laanx\"? or \"Local Server\"? Laanx should be running.. Local server is only for GMs ;)

Thanks, Foresteer. I was inadvertantly trying to connect to local server rather than Laanx without appreciating the difference. I have managed to connect to Laanx without a problem. Perhaps this difference should be emphasized more in the instructions.

everyone who uses a computer connected to a network should know what \"localhost\" means.

That\'s a bit like saying that everyone who drives a car should know how an internal combustion engine works!
