Title: GNOMES!!
Post by: Genko on February 19, 2005, 06:50:43 pm
What\'s a fantasy game without gnome and halfling like creatures?
Title: One without gnomes and halflings is a good one

If you have gnomes, people want orcs, if you have orcs, people want trolls, if you have trolls...get what im saying? It will be just like any other rpg with these races... and we want planeshift to be unique.

But but but... *I* don\'t want orcs and *I* don\'t want trolls.. screw em all! I just want a gnome.. hell the devs could just make ME a gnome.. hehehe

And for further rebuttle:

We have Dwarves.

We have Humans.

We have Elves.

We have Enkidukai (ever see the Everquest Vah Shir?)

I could go on aswell..but I think this should suffice.

I just think that the game needs a small dextrous creature to balance.

Why not make Planeshift so extraodinary in that it has MORE races and creations options than fewer.

My 2 trias.

Basically, we already have plenty of races. If you can\'t find one of them that suits you, tough luck. What this game doesn\'t need is more pointless, over-used material. We\'ve already got enough.

It\'s not like Stonebreakers are that much different from gnomes...

This means that PS already has too many creatures that are \"standard\" in the genre. If anything, it needs less of these standard races, not more.

Just play an obnoxious, skinny dwarf with a big nose.

The current races are far from finished, starting to beg for more races at this point in development is just absurd.

Well that doesn\'t seem to be a problem, especially after reading the wish list desription:

Yes, my bad. Just tought that gnomes was a little unoriginal, I\'d prefered if none of the typical medievil races would have been used..

My only point was that since they didnt completely recreate all the races they shouldn\'t have left out my favorite one (aye yes, I succomb to the cute gnomes in a completely unoriginal way.)

Well then, lets get rid of all the clasical races and make new ones? I am willing to make a Kran...maybe...well no...

In my opinion, we have a good mix of \"classical\" and \"original\" races, and together have more races to choose from than most games (12).

And, some quotes from the countless other threads requesting more races...

Anyway, no more races. That\'s been decided already, so this thread is kinda useless. *Close*

Gnomes, eh?

If you want to play a look-alike, play a stonebreaker,
If you want to roleplay like a Gnome you should keep with Lemurs, simple and short.

Ah first post.

gne? play age of mythology for laser bears dude, but gnomes no thanks ,i would like to see sprites jokers instead and well most races cant seen them but it would be fun that you suddenly realise that your sword have been replaced by a
                                                                                                   ... carrot!
i am not sure if sprite is the correct word but as far as you understand it is ok...about them i guess only some characters that are close from nature and magic could hope seing them playing with us.
but hmm it will of course not be a playable character

Sure we also have: Klyros, Diaboli, Ynwwn and Lemur and so on which aren\'t original AFAIK... besides why make it more original than necessary?

Genko, where do you pull that huge list from? Haven\'t heard of half of them. 8o

Edit: Yet I have an addition to it. ;) Robin Goodfellow.

Seytra,

We all know Robin Goodfellow, however delightfully protrayed in Shakespear\'s A Midsummer Night\'s Dream, is just another name for Puck.

Now Urusk is usually portrayed of similar stature and roguishness however is a different entity.

;)

Edit: I compiled the list myself.. Took a whole few minutes alphabetizing it too. hehe
