\"you are not running on the correct version of planeshift for this server\" Thats the message i get when i try to log on.
oh and my updater doesnt work, it just keeps on reapeting the same thing.
It says its updating the updater then it says somthing about doing stuff in the backround and the ms dos promt flickers and i can tell it says invalid directory. then it repeats.
oh and the version is 1.0.2.3
-
did you unzip the updater.zip into your PS folder..
because you won\'t have the correct version to play unless you update the game... so unzip that then run the updater again...
btw: what does the updater say?
-
the updater came with the game........
-
i know that....
...
......
...
....
when you run the updater and it downloads a new updater version it saves it into updater.zip ... unzip that into your PS folder to update the updaters, only have to do this if the updater doesn\'t work properly...

what are you trying to do?
unziping the updater.zip doesnt change the game version... you cant play the game without updating.... you can\'t update without running the updater! got it?!?
-
how do i get to the zippy thing and how do i unzip the zip and whats up with all the zip?

I have the same problem. I\'ve run and rerun psupdater, there\'s no sign of any file called psupdater.zip and I\'m currently running 0.3.006 on Linux.
I\'ve also tried changing the Planeshift.Connection.Server value in eedit.cfg, pawseditor.cfg and psclient.cfg to 203.81.47.74 which did nothing. laanx.fragnetics.com comes up as 203.81.47.91 here. Output from psupdater follows.

If I run the updater over again everything repeats. When I start the game it says I\'m running version 0.3.007

odub, you have a different problem, and since i dont have much background with running PS on linux, i don\'t know the answer, try searching the boards, i think its been done before
me54321, well... when you run the updater and it trys to update the updater, it makes an updater.zip in your PS directory, containing the update, some times you need to unzip it to update the updater.

I installed the game yesterday but couldn\'t try it out because the laanx server was down... tough luck :(
I updated the game today by running ./psupdater in my home directory.
It downloaded all of the updates to my home directory and NOT into the PlaneShift subdirectory... I guess the FindPath() function doesn\'t work with ./psupdater.
I just ran the updater script from inside my installation dir (after cleaning my home dir up after the previous update :( ) and when the update finishes I\'m pretty certain it works again :)
I installed it using the 3.006-3 installer.

Didn\'t work...
Look here for the NEW updater:

I\'m having exactly the same problem on OSX. I\'ve got the client running successfully (having first installed it yesterday when the server was down), ran all the updates and managed to connect successfully for a few minutes earlier today (about 7 hours ago).
I was halfway through creating a character when I got the \"server was shutdown by a GM\" message. Tried again after half an hour and it now tells me I have the wrong version.
My updater.app on the Mac is 1.0.2.3, and whenever I run it I get
Server has another updater, going to fetch it...
Checking for updates... all files are up to date!
and nothing appears to have been downloaded. Frankly, I\'m stumped.

An update is being compiled :)

I have solved this like this.
1 went to updatertemp
2 took updater.exe
3 copied to the planeshif folder
4 and voila. it works

The \"Not running On correct version of Planeshift\" error happens whenever there is a version difference between the client ( your local copy of planeshift ) and the server ( remote system that hosts the planeshift worls ).
This error occurs when the server version is upgraded ( for new features, bugfixes, etc ) and thus there will be a version difference to your client which will still be at the old version.
The Windows planeshift updater program will update the client version. It updates both art (images, music, world maps, etc ) and binaries (program files). Running the updater on windows should resolve this error.
The Linux planeshift updater program will not update the client version. It updates only the art files, not the binaries. Running the updater on linux will not correct this error.
To update the client binaries ( and their version number) and hence correct this error on Linux requires the new binaries to be either downloaded ( if you are using the binary release ) or compiled locally ( if you are using a source/CVS based release, this includes the linux install script ). There are posts in the bug and tech forums with further details for each of these methods.
Sorry for those using the Mac client, I\'m unsure of the situation on this system and how its updater behaves, but I assume it behaves the same way as the linux updater. That is, you must get the updated binaries via other means.
