Title: Graphics lag/freezes during combat
Post by: AshyRaccoon on February 22, 2005, 01:35:21 am
Since the last update, I have had the game visually \"freeze\" a couple of times during combat.  It has been fine, mostly.. but at least twice the framerate just went down to unplayable levels, the display won\'t update.  I could still hear the combat sounds, though.  After I am able to see again (and if still fighting), some combat sounds play too-soon after each other as if it\'s trying to \"catch up\" or something.

I run the game windowed, software sound, vertex buffer off, adaptive camera.  GeForce 4 Ti 4200 video card (*not* the latest drivers I\'m afraid, I have a problem in a different game with those, hehe.), AOpen Cobra AW-850 sound (is a C-Media chipset).
But, this happened in the sewers, and only after the latest update.  It was fine a day or two ago and hadn\'t happened to me before.

I guess I will march back into the sewers and see what happens with sound off, different options - or after a PS restart.  Or perhaps this is happening to others?

Edit: Okay, I tried some more, after some linkdeath/forced Planeshift restarts. :)  It did kind of jitter/slow at first, during my first fight, but it has been okay for about 5 or more fights so far.  Curious.
Edit 2: Another PS restart.  I was in the Plaza and two were dueling,  it kind of jumped for about 10 seconds of their fight, but was fine (at a steady, high fps) for the rest.
Edit 3: Well, it is still happening, even if I have sound disabled.  I fought a rogue in Ojaveda and Planeshift just froze until the fight was over.

I updated my video card drivers, things were fine until I fought some rogues in Ojaveda.  With the first my video skipped, the second it froze until the fight was over.  Ah well..

Edit: Uninstalling, reinstalling and reupdating Planeshift seems to have done the trick. :)
