I have idea for a monster to travl all in planeshift on the ground her this is a draw of my idea monster :
http://site.voila.fr/willendias/transport.jpg?0.9537910463554644
Size : 2.30 meter
Weight : 500 kg
Description : this is a very enormous monster look strong and resistant, they are calm but if someone attack them they roar and run on evrything attacking them (i dont give name for that animal)
Food : he eat a lot of vegetable food as carrot, herbal, and dont eat meat except fish.
tell me what your think of this animal and choose aname for him :)
-
/me likes it :)
Could be coul to ride this beasts!
-
Looks very good,
but you might want to adjust the weight if it is enormous.
For comparison : an average Shire horse stands around 1.80 to 1.90 meters and weighs around 1200 kg
A full grown White Rhino can grow up to 1.80-185 meters and weigh up to 3600kg!
Anything bigger and you\'re in elephant numbers
but keep up the good work
-
403 access forbidden :(
-
I agree with Gilibran, it should weight around 2 tons I think, and for a name, something sounding like a dinosaur could be fine, draklasaur or ariannasaur could be nice :)
Or .. what about a dragonlezard ? ;)
-
i liked it :))
it seems strong and massive... it\'s weight sould be increased, i agree...
what\'s the mask for?
and i like \"dragonlezard\" too :P it is powerfull and it\'s well adapted to the image
-
thanks all :)
this is not a mask it\'s apart of this head just for ride him, to tell him to go at left, right or stop him ;)
-
two thumbs up :-)
I like the beast !!
and I also think maybe if one could ride it would be a very cool feature:-)
by the way... is there a taming skill to come?

Should it look like this? :)

Is it ok that I did this pre 3D work? Do you wanted to make it in 3D yourself?
-
Woaw 0.o he is very good i love it, im very loser in 3D you can doing it :)
you can do that for me ? it was very cool if one day i see it in planeshift :) but it\'s a dream....
note end : CONGRAT YOU HAVE DO A GOOD JOB !!! :)
-
Nice idea Willen , this Dragonlezard look nice it could be usefull to travel long distances and it could probably intimidate smaller creatures
-
Awesome look dude, I like it :D
-
I think they should make saddles for Kran instead.
-
No idea how this fan art thread ended up in the wish list. Oh well. Moved.
-
Eh, it bears a striking resemblance to the ridable lizards in EQ. Anyhow, that model looks alright, but I think the polycount is way too high for the amount of detail in the model (not that I could do much better).

The only difference I notice between Willen\'s drawing and your 3D model is the big plate on the head of the beast on Willen\'s picture, everything else looks good.
-
I like it, the 3d version is good too, but it needs a texture and more detail.
-
@JellyWerker: I would like to add details with the texture to keep polycount low.
@Exaero_Fiero: Yes, it\'s still a wip. I will add the plate later on
@ArcaneFalcon: It\'s not optimized yet. Polycount is around 2000 polys at the moment.
-
No texture yet (I hate to unwrap and I\'m bad in painting textures!):

The lower part of the shield will be done in the texture later.

so tell me...how fast will this beast go? faster than a run I would think...but not uber fast

Or maybe it will be a sign of a good social status and general \"1337n355\"...
-
Very good job !! :)
it\'s a dream for me to see an drawing of me in 3D, i love it :) i want to see it textured ;)
-
Looks a little bit like the Ankylosaurus, without club :).
I like it realy, but don\'t want to meet him in real life :D.
-
Damn..I hate unwraping. I will make a skin-template and hope that other people will make a good skin.
Polycount for the animal: 732
-
I would like to give the texturing a try. Got that template around?
-
Try this one (hope a Photoshop file is ok, or should I make a gimp-file?):
Some infos on the top layer. Not a perfect UV but it fits :)
It\'s mirrored so there is only the half of the animal in the file.
-
Before you start texturing there are several things that need work I think. First, the model still needs more detail. It looks too smooth and perfect right now. Take a look at this (http://www.zoobooks.com/newFrontPage/animals/virtualZoo/animals/r/rhinos/images/rhino.gif) rhino picture. Take special note of some of the larger details that you can put into the model. You might think about putting in that fold of skin above the front legs and giving some definition to the legs. Look at the profile of the belly as it leads into the underside of the neck and into the head. Look at the lumps in the back. These are all things that can be put into the model. If you really need to you might think about sacrificing 50 or so polys to give the model that extra kick of detail. Take a look at pictures of other animals as well (elephants, komodo dragons, etc.) for more ideas on things that can be put in. Also, take another look at the artist\'s conception to see how you can match it even better.
Then we come to the unwrap. Several problems here. First, the texture is 872x872. You need to do powers of 2 here (512x512, 1024x1024, 512x1024, 256x256, etc.). Second, there is tons of wasted space (http://www.ps-mc.com/arcane/images/template2.jpg). Make use of the _entire_ texture sheet (rotate all those pieces and uniformly scale everything so that it takes up as much space of that blue box as possible). Third, get texporter. There\'s a link in the contributing sticky. Cuneytozadas or something like that. Lastly, looking at that unwrap I have a hard time believing that it isn\'t incredibly distorted. Maybe you already did this and I just can\'t read your unwrap right, but try applying a checker pattern to the model (if you need one you can use mine here (http://www.ps-mc.com/arcane/images/check_numbers.jpg)). Anywhere that the squares look like diamonds or trapezoids need some tweaking. I think there is a decent tutorial in the contributing sticky about unwrapping in max. If there isn\'t I\'ll add it now.
Overall it looks pretty decent. With a few tweaks here and there I think it will look really good.

Hi,
thanks for the tips! I really appreciate.
I modeled the animal after the sketch of Willen Dragonlezard (ok, nearly :) ). So it should not be a rhino like animal. But it\'s right, more detail would give it a better look.
And with the textures you are right too. Didn\'t use a checker pattern and it\'s much unused space there. But it\'s not completly unwrapped yet, so I didn\'t used all space at the moment.
Since I haven\'t got a lot of time at the moment I post the file. So if someone wants to fix more things...feel free to do it!
(max 7, texture not included)

Hi just looking at the pic like drawing of the animal Willen Dragonlezard i have name but if you stuck with the normale name then keep it here is mine Smilodon you say it likle this smill-o-don as in the mafia boss lol the 3d model is ok but what happend to the big thing on its head where the rains attach needs to be bigger in the drawing and 3d model
-
smilodon is striaght off knight online. we try to keep the game original...
-
I like the built in armor! And food sugestions, VERY nice touch.
-
It looks very nice, but no, no green. If it\'s green it looks like big, green wtf-it-could-be. But add more details and smooth it. Then it is great. Perfect. And then animations. And then test. And then put it to game. And price, of course. 10 000 trias? If that fast moving flying creature is 45 000, this shoulbe about 10 000, \'cause this moves slower. Oh, and make horns to it\'s back. Like stegosaurus. Keep up good work! ;)
-
smooth= wasted poly\'s
poly count is already pretty high, but it will be awesome with texture :D
-
If anyone is thinking of animating this creature, pleeeeeaaaase don\'t make the mistake most people do...!
Due to its reptilian anatomy, resembling that of a crocodile, it\'s almost certain that this animal would walk in a \'heel to toe\' fashion, i.e. how lizards walk.
I love this beast... but if I saw it walking like a dog or something, I think I\'d scream. :)
-
Looks more like a pack animal to me - slow, but strong enough to carry a lot. Maybe the big guy is used for hauling wagon trains? I bet you could put plate mail on him and use him as a war mount too.
If he were to be slow, maybe a good name would be segnipesaur or \'seggie\' for short.

Who said it\'s reptile though? The legs look like they are under the stomach, in which it would run like a dog, bear or other animal of that stature. I actually compare the animal much to a hippo. I don\'t know what you mean by reptiles running heel to toe however, as most of them seem to waddle and have no heel in the first place. I would think this animal would walk like a bear of a hippo though, I can\'t see how it would walk like a lizard at all.
-
Edit: Ok, this is much harder to explain than I thought...
I won\'t try to explain, since I\'m tired and already have a headache from looking. :P But I guess all I\'m saying is, know your \"animal gaits\" before animating, otherwise it might end up looking silly!
Quick link to an example of a reptilian gait: the crocodile \'high walk\', which I think seems suitable for this animal:
http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/natsci/herpetology/brittoncrocs/cbd-gb5.htm
Edit again: That said, if it\'s more of a pachydermal-type animal, you might want to go with this kind of movement instead: http://whyfiles.org/shorties/128elephant_run/images/rhead2.gif
Ok, I\'m done now, honest. :P
-
Noo. This animal needs far more details!
When ArcaneFalcon gives the rhino as reference this is good. Willen drawing is not detailed at all, it\'s just a four leg thing with a shield on the head.
If you want to make it in 3D you must show and emphasize all the muscles, and such beast probably have a ton.
The head is not detailed at all, not the eye hollow, the jaw definition is wrong and you could give a better throat shape.
The mouth is linear, like the nature took a cutter and made a clean horizontal cut for this mouth (without any tooth).
Keep working on it, don\'t give up that easily!! :p
-
nice i can see it now, when you go to war with guilds, i feel bad for the guys who wont have these theyll be crushed in the dust, but what would be the real use, i hope your not planing on usin these to go through town :P
maybe we could get an elf race and get some tigers for beastmasters or smething
-
Took a shot at the head, I hope you like it:
Without horns
(http://img179.echo.cx/img179/5035/viech6xf.th.jpg) (http://img179.echo.cx/my.php?image=viech6xf.jpg)
With horns (I accidently made them out of the neck  )
(http://img179.echo.cx/img179/8444/viechhorn0wx.th.jpg) (http://img179.echo.cx/my.php?image=viechhorn0wx.jpg)
-
There\'s enough polys there for a normal mapping (maybe) if you\'d just add some more detail. It isn\'t bad, but it\'s way too smooth and perfect. Get some reference pictures and add detail!

it looks to be a great foe to fight or a animal to be a riding one.
-
I dunno, but I think this is proper to post here.
While sitting on the balcony A thought rushed through my mind. There are Pterosaurs, etc. Why not have a huge flying insect as mount (I dont think that this was done often) so I sat down in front of the computer opened up blender and this came out.
(http://img141.echo.cx/img141/581/wasp1cm.th.jpg) (http://img141.echo.cx/my.php?image=wasp1cm.jpg)
I cannot think of a more elegant flying insect than a wasp, I may add a saddle though.
[EDIT:]
I just want to add that this model is not intended to be low Poly or something. It wont be added to the game anyways (I heard stuff that is postede in the public isnt considered to be added)
-
Oh nice Cyl. But one question, how would you ride that thing lol?
-
I aint sure, but I thought that you would be \"hanging\" under it, tied to it with straps of leather or so.
-
Maybe the big fellow should be certian races only. Just a thought- It\'s 2.30 m tall so it would be kind of funny to have a dwarf riding it!!! Also, the wasp thingy could be races under x kilograms. I don\'t know, just thought it might be more realistic. Anyway they are cool.
-
i think it would be more practical as a mount in battle, due to its bulk and the horns. As for a casual ride, i think its a little large and the upkeep would be incredible (at 2 tons, it would eat a lot and crap a lot).
-
I think you\'d ride the wasp thingy like this:
But you\'d probably have a chair-like saddle to sit on.
