Title: Planeshift on 64bit computers.
Post by: Epsilon_alpha on February 24, 2005, 10:28:04 pm
I\'m upgrading my old Duron to a K8 Athlon64 XP-3200+

I was told by the sales person that some software may not work with 64bit system.  Now, will Planeshift work on a 64bit system?

It will run in 32-bit mode in windows, and 64-bit or 32-bit mode in linux. 64-bit mode is still relativly untested but seems to be stable now. It\'s working pretty good on my 64-bit machine anyway :)

And all nearly all 32-bit programs will run on a 64-bit machine.

I feel confident in spending the money to buy the upgrade.  :P

The info he has is quite out-dated.
That was a problem around 1999 when 64-bit became intressting except in MIPS and Sparc64. Then you could run 64 bit programs just a little bit faster, and emulate 32bit programs at horrid \"speeds\"

AMD 64bit will not make any difference unless your running a 64bit Operating System, not including any you buy in the market.

64bit windows still in beta
