Ok, I\'ll try to describe the problem in detail. The game crashes usually when moving around the central square (it happens so often that i wasn\'t able to get anywhere else). The problem appeared only today. The program displays information that Planeshift did sth unexpected and asks if I want to save the raport then it crashes. After I rejoin I ofen end up in the World of the Dead with the information that: \"You fell of the end of the world and died\". My case is not the only one, i\'ve seen and heard that such things happen to many people today. One of my friend using Linux PS informed me that his system displays the message that PLANESHIFT ATTEMPTED TO USE MEMORY AREA WHICH WAS NOT ALLOCATED TO IT and that is why the system had to kill the game. This is not displayed in the windows ver I run (for obvious reasons). Please reply quickly, or see what you can do about the bug
ps. the original message Linux displays when the game crashes is: \"Segmentation fault\"

I had the same problem, where you come out of the arena entering the square. I had to totally dienstall and then, restart PC and then new install, since then it hasnt done it anymore. Hope that helps

What platform are u using Laetherat? Is it win or Linux? Did you experience the problems with the new version of Planeshift?

I cant log on without it kicking me off with exception errors. When I do, I just fall through the sky somehow and eventually hit the end of the nothing and die...and then it will pop up an exception error anyway.

Well, i guess i was wring, i use winXP, but i just uploaded and everything is all screwy by me too. Its okay when im in the Square but when i go anywhere else, it crashes

I tried it again a few minutes ago and guess what happened...I can\'t even log in!! (and i tried three times). The moment it finishes loading GUI it crashes:(
Well...Planeshift team are you planning to do anything about it? Or maybe you are already doing something?
PLEASE let us know...WE WANT TO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I basically have been having this same problem for the past 2 days now, maybe 3. Here is the exact output in me terminal under Arch Linux.

Segmentation fault
Every time it crashes with the segfault it always seem to be from the stonem_eye_01.bmp I assume this is on the main statue in the middle of town and would explain why all the crashes are happing there or close to there if your within viewing distance of the statue.

When I run the psclient-debug I can ask gdb for this:

This happens when I try to move. I can stand in one location for a long while. As soon as I rotate or move psclient crashes.
I am running a fully updated Fedora Core 3, xorg 6.8.1, I have an ATI 9600XL video card.

There seems to be a new update available. When I checked yesterday there was nothing, but today I tried to log in and the client informed me that I\'ve got a wrong version. So I updated and the game STOPPED CRASHING in the way I described at the top of this thread:). Well...things are not much better though- instead I get that \"SERVER DROPPED US...\" info described in the other thread. What\'s next...? :(

I updated and now I do not crash, but it is all black for about 2 minutes though

...already fixed....but \"Dropped us\" Bug is still there....

Untill we wait for the update to come, what is the best thing to do to play and fight normally? (Without the exp and fatigue and crash bug)

The best thing to do is just wait. Have some patience people it will not take that long for them to fix it.

I don\'t get any Update of the Client. I start psupdater but no binarys are comming. Is there a new Client for Linux?

There is an answer to the dropping problem now :). There is a bug in the game, that causes the \"server dropped us...\" message every time a dead body is removed from the server. So we shouldn\'t kill any monsters untill the bug is fixed, and they are already working on it.
