Title: psclient don't start
Post by: Sanctus 34 on March 01, 2005, 01:11:51 am
I have tried all I find into the forum ans particuliary Chaos\'s guide.

I do the upddate with his applet. I follow instruction ans type terminal\'s command, but how I understand nothing in unix command, I don\'t know if it is OK.

So, after have done all that Chos write, I try to launch psclient. The result : nothing. Nothing, nothing and nothing.

I don(t know what to do now; I\'m lost ? and I\'m French ?

If you have Norton Internet Security

Maybe....set off Fullscreen and then look for Norton Internet Security...had a similar problem....

t...then if Norton pops up....allow psclient to connect to the internet....

Makesure you have the latest build installed (given). Try and completely fresh reinstall.

Make sure that all of your firewall / router accesses are validated for PS (software and hardware).

Download all of the latests drivers for your system.

Don\'t run it on maximum settings. Start off at 16 bit and 800 X 600 etc and work your way back up.

Hope this helps.

I\'m assuming you\'re using a Mac, by your system specs.  There are several reasons why psclient would fail to launch, most likely due to missing a step in Cha0s\'s instructions, but at present even if you DID get it to launch, you wouldn\'t get far since the server/client versions are out of sync on the Mac side.

The best diagnostic tool is to either launch psclient from the command line (I understand you might not be comfortable with this) or open Console.app in the \"Utilities\" folder under \"Applications\", scroll to the bottom and try to launch psclient normally.  Any error messages usually end up there.
Title: I did all the steps in a prior board...

I did all the steps in a prior board to get the game working, downloaded a fresh copy and it worked until it forced me to update, and once again didn\'t work.

Quite frankly my download usage isn\'t very high and having to download 250MB again isn\'t really that much of an open.

When are the developers going to come up with a premenant fix?  I mean, they must test it themselves before putting a newer version and updates up.  Isn\'t there something that can be done?
