next step is http://www.ninebows.com/two/

no one\'s solved it yet though, afaik.

Hell, explain it here. I think there are many of us that are lost...well, even if it is just us two then still explain at least a little here. I don\'t need a full-blown explaination; just enough to let me know what the hell is going on...

Google, my friend, is a useful tool.

EDIT:  Wow, rank back.

well that didn\'t take long for ya\'ll to solve :).. i cant get the mathmatical problem on /two :( i am great with puzzles and breezed to it.. but i S U C K at mathmatic puzzles :/ i have noticed there are 3 + and 3 - signs and i am guessing they aren\'t mathmaticle operators but past that i dont have a friggin clue O.o
Title:
Post by: Socrates Demise on March 03, 2005, 06:28:00 am
Google has failed me on htis one...

/two is killing me

there are like three other message boards working on this problem probably about 50 - 60 people and it dosen\'t seem that any of them have figured out an answer.

I\'m not sure I want to spend any more time on this... But I probbly will :P
Title:
Post by: Foresteer on March 03, 2005, 06:46:02 am
i quit working on it.... yesterday XD but i\'m still working on it :P it just bugs the hell outta me wondering what the end is :/ i\'m no farther on /two and i am taking a break to play some games or something
Title:
Post by: davo on March 03, 2005, 07:04:32 am
omg it is so damn simple and easy.

people sit there wondering what it is and get all worried, so they click on the tiny little hpyerlink and it comes up with binary thus telling people it is not anything real.  lol this realm isnt real

sorry had to edit, i assume im wrong and i try and outsmart trick questions cause i carnt work them out, so i assume that i did not spoil anything :P
Title:
Post by: Socrates Demise on March 03, 2005, 07:12:15 am
Well in my searches for a solution on one of the message boards someone was able to spell out a message

get /POFE

Well the nine bows seem to have something to do with Egypt
so i decided to search for POFE and Egypt I came up with a movie that was aout a few years ago Prince of Egypt people has shortened it to PofE This movie is all about Moses I ofcourse tried http://www.ninebows.com/moses and that didn\'t work but there may be something here.

Maby if you take all the numbers, and use the letter they represent. If the number overlaps, just start counting from \"A\" again.
Title:
Post by: RussianVodka on March 03, 2005, 09:16:55 pm
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=+site:http://www.ninebows.com+ninebows

As you can see from here, there are no more sites that are connected to http://www.ninebow.com

So you will have to keep searching.

Post by: faldrok on March 04, 2005, 01:35:15 am
Kiern: Yes, I know and love Google, but I had no clue what the hell to Google. I could have done their advanced search and found pages like this, but I didn\'t think it would help me, so I avoided that.

And if that many people are stuck on it, is there a real answer? Did the creator of it just throw some numbers out there to fool people and make them waste their time?

If there is an answer, however, good luck. If not, hah! You\'ve just been fooled. ;)

Can you people explain why i\'m looking at a bug while you guys speak about a math problem?

Okay i found a link that took me to the binary.
I have no idea what to do with the binary numbers even though i got the link to the /two. I think the last step 1 might have to do with step two.  And heres a link to a blog that i found on google that talks about it a bit. The commenters seem to know what they are talking about.

Edit: forgot the link :)

This thing is killer I hafe pondered over those numbers for hourd one site led me to an IQ test that i scored in the 99th percentile I\'m probably over thinking the problem...

I found this link (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=1469571&perpage=40&pagenumber=1) where people are working verry hard at trying to get through step two.

Hopefully some of their ideas will be helpful.

Yes but whats with the strange text that says homeseer0 on it. And why would a random prompt like this show up on such a simple site...

A bet aliens are behind this 8o Eigther that or Bill Gates   :P

Oh s*** what if hes giving away like a billion dollars to osmone who does this >.>
okay ill stop getting carried away now... *runs off to do the puzzle*

Edit censored the word :)

Post by: Foresteer on March 04, 2005, 01:45:13 pm
i hear there is a prize.. doubt its that big though :P i\'m still on step two... the blog for it says its all so simple anybody could do it if they stopped making it seem so hard O.o
Title:
Post by: Efflixi Aduro on March 05, 2005, 12:30:26 am
The guy claims there is a prize...
No ones passed level 2 yet and if they did why would they tell others =/

Edit: I got an idea.
Take the numbers and make em all roman numerals. Then you will have combos of V\'s I\'s ans X\'s since that is whgat roman numerals are composed of. Then You might be able to lose the V\'s with the addition and stuff thats there. Whcih leaves you with I\'s and X\'s or in normal terms, 1\'s and 10\' Which could be used as binary. :)
Im to lazy to try but if somone\'s bored, go for it :)

Just got the idea to replace the spaces with %\'s, and use it as hexidecimal.

Or maby just remove the spaces completely. You get 284339. Go figure.

Remember, this can be done by a 6th grader.
Title:
Post by: Foresteer on March 05, 2005, 06:45:48 am
hmm the roman numeral idea is interesting O.o but if this is easy enough for a 6th grader then why cant anybody get it XD i think we aer making it to complex when the answer is very simple :)

i still haven\'t been able to get it though lol what if its like http://www. .com ? :P that would be simple.. in fact i\'ll try it right now

the nine bows were the nine enemies of egypt.  this explains the title.  the first clue i think represents the direction of one of the nine bows. Still investigating on this.
Title:
Post by: WizardsRule on March 05, 2005, 10:10:42 pm
the \"nine bows\" were actually the enemies of ancient egypt.  here are some pages that may help us out:

http://touregypt.net/featurestories/enemies.htm

Ps: the nine bows were as follows:

1. The Hau-nebu on the north-eastern coast of the Mediterranean

2.Shat, a people to the south of Egypt, near the third cataract
3. The Ta Shema
4. Sekhet-iam, western oasis dwellers
5. Ta Mehu
6. Pedjtiu-Shu who roamed the eastern desert
7. The Libyan Tehennu
8. Iuntiu-seti, a nomadic people, possibly Nubian
9. Mentiu nu Setet who were Asiatics found in Canaan and along the coast up to Ugarit
Title:
Post by: RussianVodka on March 06, 2005, 01:28:46 am
Maby it means that if you draw a circle (360 decrese), and put egypt in the middle, the numbers will tell you in what degree the enemy is located.

I dont know how this will help, but what ever.

Edit: the pluses and minuses indicate that the enemy is large and takes up more then one degree.
I dont have time, but if you are confused about what i just said, tell me and I\'ll explain later.

Post by: WizardsRule on March 06, 2005, 07:46:55 pm
could osiros have to do with it.  I say this because if you do a zoom on the link on the first page it shows a line with a dot over it.  Sorta like the sun and the horrizon.
Title:
Post by: Exuro Interficio on March 06, 2005, 08:02:55 pm
didnt someone say that a 6th grader could do this? you guys seem to go into complex things beyond that of a 6th grader. try looking up 6th grade curriculum, maybe that is a clue??? or the number 6? i dont know, i havent really put much effort on the puzzle. i remember, however, doing a project on egypt in 6th grade, o.O

just some ideas i pulled out of my head.
Title:
Post by: WizardsRule on March 06, 2005, 09:15:03 pm
I think i remember studying world history in 6th grade.  Inparticularly, the ancient civs!

Ps: there are nine candles on a monarah and the Jews escaped from egypt.

Post by: dorbian on March 06, 2005, 09:38:22 pm
we never solved the first one :P the normal link they have, the binary stuff gives the link to the word two ( if you are good enough to figure it out )

I took the liberty of changing the numbers to some computer related stuff :P i was bored

It\'s like this trough the ASCII table
puzzle number   calculated   CalculatedDecimals   CalculatedHexaDecimals    CalculatedOctet

PN.............CC.........CD.........CHD.........CO
27..............27.........ESC..........\'............23
26..............26.........SUB..........&...........22
30+3..........33.........!...............3...........27
11+1.........12..........FF.............LF.........10
15..............15.........SI.............CR.........13
22+1......... 23.........ETB...........#..........19
23-1...........22.........SYN...........\"...........18
23-1...........22.........SYN...........\"...........18
22-2...........20.........DC4.........Space.....16

although the forum won\'t accept to much spaces, this is the list, sorta like >.>
Stupid form** mumbles flames against forum** crappy stuf... **mumbles some more**

if we would recalculate it binairy to get letters out of it we should get 3 extra numbers to fill the group, that way we would be able to create another 3 letter word.

And i don\'t believe crap that a 6 grade student can solve that puzzle :P
Title:
Post by: WizardsRule on March 07, 2005, 04:20:50 am
just want to say the 6th grade answer to this would be
\"that easy\".

Look around on the left side and you will see a tiny black dot that is a button. That takes you to a page with some binary on it. I didnt notice the button until i maximised the window so you might need to do the same.
Title:
Post by: JellyWerker on March 15, 2005, 04:51:10 pm
that was step one...
Title:
Post by: WizardsRule on March 15, 2005, 05:12:37 pm
its noy a dot, its a dot with a line under it.

p.s. one possible answer is osiros
1. nine bows are the enemies of ANCIENT EGYPT
2. the symbol resemebles sunset and sunrise
3. this refers to osiros
Title:
Post by: Xantam on March 15, 2005, 05:21:24 pm
Anyone know how you\'re supposed to get from the binary page to page two? If anyone can explain how that\'s supposed to be done then it may give insight on how to progress further.

Whois says ninebows.com is owned by hack.net, so I bet any other sites in the puzzle will be owned by hack.net as well.
The owner is Ryan K. Brooks, of Applied Atomics.

Edit:
Nevermind, I know how to get to page two, it just didn\'t work when I tried the lazy way out (using an online converter) ;p
Manual works fine.

Edit 2:
There doesn\'t appear to be anything relevant on the hack.net site either, just a ton of gallery pages.

Edit 3:
Found the puzzlemaker\'s blog:
http://www.seismicgopher.com/
There\'s a prize. :)

Edit 4:
Seems logical that step two is some form of encoding of the next page to go to, or an email address to send to or something. There are also nine numbers (including operators), but that could be a coincidence.

Edit 5:
OK, there are nine levels, and only a few people have made it to the third level. The \"nine bows\" seems to be a theme for the levels from Egyptian mythology or something. There were nine enemies (called the nine bows) of Egypt. So we probably need to find out what these enemies were.

They\'re binary. Computers use binary for everything. They convert to characters spelling out a message. Look up how to convert binary to decimal, then look up an ASCII chart to find out what it says.

i did some research and there is nothing more on this webhost, hack.net that is.

so if there is a solution it should either be on a different website or it\'s worlds biggest hoax that made his domain worth millions ( yes the domains are worth that much, i checked ).
