so i followed all the instructions ChaOs gave for mac users, all the lib stuff etc....and now i can\'t even open the program. before i did all the instructions it would start up and then \"unexpectedly\" quit...and now it won\'t even do that....
do i start over? am i missing something?
this is so frustrating....

I would suggest trying it again, but right now the mac client for the current server exists only on dfryer\'s computer as he is rebuilding it to work. Within a day of it working, chaOs will probably update his guide to whatever needs to be done to get it running.
For now, you will have to be patient until the new client is up like the rest of us mac users.

You probably have to run it through Terminal. To do this type \"cd\" (minus quotes), a space, and then drag your Planeshift folder onto the Terminal window. Hit RETURN. Then type \"./psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient\" and RETURN. This should get the client going although you won\'t be able to get in the game because there isn\'t a current Mac version yet. Dryfer is working on it though.

well i\'m sure when a running mac one comes out i\'ll be back with more questions. ;)
thanks for your help and patience.

Ive got the same exact problem it says it unexpectedly quit. So basically...we\'re screwed, until they come out with a working version?
-
You are no more \"screwed\" now than you were before you found out this game existed. In fact I would say less screwed. At least you know eventualy there will be an open source MMORPG that plays on our platform.
Some points to remember:
1) its an ALPHA
as in pre beta, just around the tech demo stage. Most aplhas are closed tests. Just be thankful this one isn\'t.
2) You didn\'t buy a mac for gaming.
well, did you? Most buy them for creative work (2d/vid), or the lack of viruses. I bought mine for design work (video/2d/web).
3) The mac version is a one man thing.
As in right now, there is only one mac coder. He is also newly married. Oh and a full time University student. So give the man a break, unless you know c++ on a realy high level, AND are willing to help... he is doing the best he can. LEARN patience (it might be more than a hour).
sorry for the harshness, but seriously, can\'t we, as users of a game starved operating system, be THANKFUL for what we have going on?

No, we can\'t be thankful, we MUST be thankful, that\'s different !
