I think that the most important short term update/addition to the game is the magic system.  It is soooo bad right now due to the small amount of small spells.  I think many many more spells esp. strong ones, should be released as soon as possible.

Thats great.  I am happy.

I just would wish to know how far along the devs are with the magic system because I am waiting for mor glyphs and spells to come out to create a new character based on magic

On the fragnetics website.  It mentions crafting, but not magic, so I wasn\'t sure what was going on with it.

Magic is implemented and many spells are completed. It is up to Talad to implement the spells and glyphs waiting to be added, and up to me to continue creating more spell effects to use with them.

I suggest releasing what ever you guys have now, and make tons more spells later.  I think spells should have awesome effects and some be stronger than swords since it costs sooo  much and takes a while to cast.  I say let there be an endless maing of spells :) .

I very much appreciate this info moogie.  You are a great moderator who should be promoted if it were possible. :)

I just reread my last post and saw how poorly worded it was.

I meant You guys should release now whatever spells that are finished, and continue to create/finish/release more spells.

If they did that  it would be fairly likely to unbalance testing.  A few, maybe but all would not be a good ideal.  If there were suddenly three dozen(random number) more spells or something, there would be a lot of sword mages who would sell everything they owned to try to buy them, and that would be bad.

My personal hope is that they release the new spells after the wipe, so that we can get a sneak preview of the arms race between wizards and warriors.

A) They need to release many more spells to BALANCE out mages vs. fighters.  To do this, there must be som spells that do a bit more damage (not necessarily a lot more at first) than weapons because
         --it is more expensive to by a glyph then a weapon
         --it is more expensive to train
         --it takes more progression points to gain one level
         --it takes time to cast a spell
Obviously flying spells, teleportations spells, spells that change weather, etc. will not be implemented for a long time, unless I am wrong ;)  .

B) They should release them NOW.  Having them before the wipe will give mages time to gather info and decide which way(s) they want to focus on.  It will also allow us to find bugs in the magic system early on so the devs don\'t have to worry about them later.

We won\'t be releasing all of the ones we currently have at once. We\'ll release them when they\'re ready to be released. We have quite a few spells implemented already, but untill they are tested and ready to be public, you won\'t be able to buy their glyphs in the shops.

I have to admit that I\'m not too upset about the way things are now. Of course I\'m looking forward to more spells, everyone is, but on the other hand, at least we don\'t have a bunch of n00bs trying to be uber-1337 wizards of death right now.

Personally I would be satisfied if they would release a spell from each way, but if it isn\'t ready then...
well what can we do about it :)

And we have waited for so long so... a little more waiting won\'t kill us ;)

Personally I\'d love to see a more freeform spell system.  Set spells are all well and good, but giving us the ability to create our own unique spells within the system would be awesome.

Speaking of waiting, I\'m busy downloading the client, first time this release.  I feel like I\'m trying to redefine eternity.

Since this topic is about magic I decided to post this here.

The player guide didn\'t tell me this so moogie I swear to god...anyway I was wondering, how do I use my magic arrow, do I just train crystal way or what? If so then how do i get it to lvl after I get all the exp for it and payed for the training, since I can\'t use the spell anyway...

okay 1st, this is the WISH LIST, not NEWBIE section.



Anyway.  I still think many more spells should be implemented publicly.  There should definitely be more than just one for each of the 6 ways of magic.  If not too many are introduced in the near future, i ask that at least release a spell that does a little bit more damage at a high level then weapons do at high levels (along with a few other spells to make it so some people would actually want to be wizards).

Magic is sooooo low and worthless right now.  I was wondering if some spells could be released (esp. the one i described above) this weekend (march 12-13), and if not sometime this week (march 14-20).

I appreciate your time.
P.S.  If you come to a definite conclusion, can you post it here to let me know?

id rather they got armors going and armor graphics out before spells.  i hate how everyone looks the same =(

Like I said, we\'ll release new spells when we\'re ready.

First of all, I\'m the only one making them, so don\'t expect hundreds any time soon. :P Secondly, I make what I\'m asked to make, and Talad is the one who decides when to put them in the client for you to download.

Talad is also the one who controls spells\' powers, casting times, durations. So I\'m afraid I can\'t do anything about that. I do agree that spells are rather weak at the moment, but hey, the only spells you currently have are \'First Realm\'- They\'re supposed to be weak. :)
