I was thinking about maybe what if you could like hunt in ps. I think it would be cool if you could hunt animals and stuff and get stuff like furs meat rare feathers and just stuff like that. The idea scears me alittle because if we do hunt things on ps then a problem with poaching might occur. But seriouly i think it would be cool to have like a tradeing post for hunters and stuff like that. Or maybe like a ranger\'s guild house kind of thing.
-
oh one more thing also like fishing and stuff like that too.
-
It?s being thought about?but it will be secondary in priority to other things. But hunting and fishing are things many of us want in the game.
-
i didnt know that it was already discussed or i wouldnt have posted this. I just think it would be really cool to see a turkey running around with an arrow sticking out of its butt that would be shot from the bow of my character. That would be really cool. :D
-
It hasn\'t on the forum (to my knowledge) and while you might find it fun that a Turkey be running around with an arrow in it?s butt, I will find it equally funny seeing the great Turkey Spirit chasing around hunters who are cruel. :D :D
We will do it in as taste full a manner as we can?but it will be a harsh world.
-
Actually that sounds cool, I haven\'t seen a game yet that rewarded you for hunting, and the poaching thing. It could lead to preservation camps in the game. Very cool.
-
If this is included, we should be able to have trophy rooms, where we can mount the heads of powerful monsters we\'ve killed.
-
If that is the case, should powerful monsters have trophy rooms with the heads of powerful players they have killed???
And if you kill the monster in a group, who gets the head to post on the wall?
Just musing thoughts here.

rofl i think it would be damn funny to walk into a monsters lair and see peoples heads hanging around places!
-
Not if i were one of the guys hanging there :D. Btw we must have a PS WWF else u guys would kill every living species around :D
-
if we kill someone in pvp in a tourny can we have their heads? i just think that would be kinda funny :P
-
Thats sick dude :)
No seriously it\'s supposed to be a RPG, so thats a bit over the top i guess.

hey hey....whats up will all of you spammers on my thread like that talking about wwf and stuff unrealated to planeshift you might get banned for that kind of thing. lol j/k im just messing around. I get harrassed about things being off topic a lot. Anyways im just amazed to see some many people takeing an interest to the idea that i brought up about hunting and stuff.
-
YEAH BAN THEM!!!BAN THEM!!!oh wait a minute ... . you ..were kidding....yeah yeah me too..i..i guess... anyway i think hunting wouldbe pretty cool but it should be realistic with permits and stuff. then when you shoot say a deer like animal it will run till it bleeds out! then it could be stolen be some recdneck drarf but if you do find it you get to feild dress it all by your self!!!! wouldnt that be great!?!?!?!..........guys?
well i guess the field dressing would be a little demanding on the graphics team since they probbaly dont hunt much on the other side of the big drink...or do they?!?!?!?
-
Hunting/fishing would be a good way to get food for low level players (or players that just thinks it\'s boring to walk over to a shop and buy food)
You could also have contests, like \"every friday at 9, the hunting party\" where a bunch of hunters set out in a \"restricted area\" or something and the one that returns with the biggest booty wins all the food the players have gathered (and maybe an additional price?)
-
Hunting as I envision it:
This of course will be largely dependant on other aspects of the game (this would be a cool feature but one of the first to be canceled if resources are low)
Give game animals a skittish AI, some with a herd mentality, lower game creature attributes as they take damage (they get slower) offer a challenge no mater the skill of the hunters, occasionally have protector monsters react to killings. Have creatures give mass quantities of meat and pelts, quality dependant on amount of hits (one shot one kill would give the best quality)?and a few other semi realistic features. Exp would be granted only upon finishing the creatures useful parts, skinning the animal, curing the meat?. What I would like to make evident is I don?t want killing for the sake of killing.
I have much more to write, but I have a social engagement to attend so, I?ll leave this up and we can continue to comment along these lines.

WWF=World Wildlife Foundation.......or something like that.
The discussion was about hunting and poaching, which led to the idea of a preservation group for animals. It was on topic. Peanut!

Thanks Aendar :D I was just about to say that :P

/me imagines :
\"GET OUT OF HERE YOU BIG PEANUT!\"
\"come on man, don\'t be so angry!\"
\"you....you...PEANUT!\"
hahahaaa, imagine all the possibilities
-
What if got killed by a monster, ressurected and mounted your own head on the wall. You could have a collection of decapitated you\'s.......Just a thought.
-
Hey have you imagined how cool that would be if there were PvP matches?
like the ears in diablo, but you have heads instead,
You enter the house of a famous pk\'er and you see a big bunch of heads on the wall, \"level 93\" \"level 83\" etc etc
-
If a group kills a large animal, the group has to choose who gets the head. Could lead to bickering and grudges, but any hunting party should figure that stuff out before they go out, right? Or maybe it just goes in their hunting lodge :P The heads only matter for bragging rights, anyway, so it shouldn\'t be that big a deal.
-
The player that did the most damage to the beast should get it,
Well something like the player doing the most damage + took the most damage when trying to get it down, I\'ve played many mmorps where its really annoying that an enemy keeps doing damage at you while you are doing damage at it and then some other player comes and kills the enemy and gets the exp/price,
While you are the one who really deserved it,
This is a system that needs to be well thought through,
-
You should form an official \"party,\" amongst which the exp is devided up when the monster dies. If more than one party damages the creature, split the experience amongst the parties, based on how much damage each did. That way we won\'t shaft healer types, because any party should balance itself out, and have means enough to deal damage.
-
I think that \"hunting\" or killing any \"monster\" should have a chance of giving meat, pelts, and other.... BUT these can be used as ingredients if you picked to have any alchemy skills.... just a lil\' something I found interesting in Morrowind.
In Morrowind, you could also gather mushrooms and herbs from wild plants outside towns for your needs.

maybe im misunderstanding this idea but it seems lame...a healer could be bad at melee combat and thus get little expirience. how about the amount of experience of a healer is based on how much they heal party members?
-
If he is bad at melee he needs to train it up by fighting low level monsters.
-
When you heal a lot, your heal skills will go up, and you can become a powerful healer. The game isn\'t level-based but skill-based.
-
Hmm... so if you don\'t have a master level or some sort of rating (maybe if you get your skills you could recieve a title like Sir, Lady, etc that\'s before your name, eg. Sir Tomaseth) but how do you know if the person you are dueling is equal to your level or if the person you invited into your group has the skills suitable to help out the group?
-
*you have killed target*
a) scalp
b) dissmember
c) spit on remains
d) feel around for loose change
-
If you can form a party, then a healer being bad at combat is not a liability for them (exp-wise, at least :P). The experience is divided among the members of the party evenly, so we don\'t shaft healers. If two seperate parties damage a creature, the experience is split between the parties based on how much each party, as a group, damaged the creature. Hope that clarified things a tad.
