Title: Wow.
Post by: Dolo00 on March 12, 2005, 05:58:07 pm
Really, that\'s all I have to say about Planeshift. I remember first bumping into Planeshift a couple of years ago (Has it been that long? it sure seems like that). I remember waiting anxiously waiting for the client files to release, only to take a glimpse at the world after reading every single piece of lore on the site.

Fast forward to today, taking a look at Planeshift it looks nothing like I remembered it. It has a graphic interface, you can interact with the surrounding and hell, there are monsters out there! economy! wow!

I look at Planeshift and I like what I see because it\'s different than all those games out there. It\'s not yet another MMORPG using this and that franchise to rake some coins. It actually has a background story, an original one too, it works towards being (with the lack of any proper way to describe it) what MMORPGs were years ago, when the relation between the name MMORPG and the game itself wasn\'t conicindential... you know, actually lore, original world, role playing.

But anyhow, off with my rambling, I came here to ask a couple of questions. First of all, with all the new features since the last release I played, what is there to do, how do you do it, where do you start and why is cheese yellow?

Now, after all (or some, or part of, or none of the above has been answered). I\'d like to know if there\'s any way to support the Planeshift project, moral, financial (well, not right now, but eventually), spiritual support, any or all at all?

Either way, I\'ll be seeing you in game :)

[Edit: is it only me who\'s having problems with the website running Firefox? I think one of the first things an indie game should support is Firefox :p]

[Edit, take 2: Is there a way to delete characters? I looked around but have been unable to find the secret destroy evidence button!]

Greetings!

In the current version there are several things you can do. Unfortunately the crystal hunt is gone ;) however, you can train your skills and stats, do some basic crafting (advanced crafting is currently under closed testing by developers), fight with monsters, party up, create guilds (the guild system is alot more than \"think of a name and BAM you\'re a guild!!\"- take a look at it sometime :) ) cast magic, and, of course, you can now die! ;)

To find out how to do most of these things, check out the Player\'s Guide. It comes with the game, but can also be found from the link on the main page of the website.

You arn\'t able to donate directly to Planeshift, however, our server sponsors Fragnetics might enjoy it, and of course Crystal Space (the game engine PS uses) will welcome all the support it receives.

You can, of course, contribute materials, documents, models, anything you like to the project. And if you like, apply to become a proper member of the team. :)

As for your edits... I run FireFox, and although I have some troubles now and then, it is generally okay. These boards are very old software (but we\'re not looking to change any time soon).

And finally, if you wish for a character deletion, you must seek out an admin-level GM. The best way to grab one\'s attention is by going on irc.freenode.com #planeshift, the public developer channel, and asking the @\'s and +\'s there. :)

Good luck and have fun! :)

Hi Dolo00.

Can you be more especific about yours problems concerning Firefox & the website.

I have Firefox 1.0, and all is fine.

The only minor thing is that the Adblock plugin break some images, but has an easy work arround, just deactivate the Overlay Flash feature Tools==>Adblock==>Overlay Flash(for rleft-click)

Sorry my bad english.

Salu2.

Oh and in order to delete characters, you need to press the \"delete character\" button on the interface when playing with the character, I think.
