i wanted to know if it were ok to like post funny things on the general chat that everyone would enjoy reading and stuff like that if its not i wont post anything but the funniest thought came to me to day, you know the drug dogs and stuff the cops use to sniff drugs and stuff. I wonder when they get back home if they if they think to themselves,\"wtf why cant i taste my butt...ahhggg wtf is that oh oh its just my tail, that stupid cats been pissing in my food again.... oh wait a minute we dont have a cat...aww what did i just step in\"
someone please just like kick me if i dont shut up soon ?(

Well you are right about one thing we kinda need an \"off-topic\" forum where one can post posts like that just for fun but right now I guess the general forum is for posts thats (atleast a little) serious,

Zig why do you bother posting? Honestly everything you post is either a huge load of crap or it\'s insulting to someone, so why would anyone want a board where thats all you would do?

Zig, I find it pretty amusing that you occasionally have a kernel of a good idea, but manage to mess it up almost every time.
As far as off topic discussions, or OT forum. I would have to ask, why.
What added value does it add to the people developing the game, to have to monitor posts that have nothing to do with the game?
The real reason for the forum is two fold, the primary reason, is as a place to discuss things related to the game, the other primary reason is to find talent and ideas for the game.
How would an off topic board assist those two areas?
While many ideas here seem to be pretty much regurgitated ideas, it is also possible that many ideas here offer the occasional fresh perspective. And or adds some great insight into the gamers mind.
And then there are the people who just post to post.
There are plenty of communities that are just based on communities, they may be more interested in the your musings of what cats and dogs think, personally and I am pretty sure I speak for most of the crew, we really don?t care, and feel this is a waste of valuable bytes.

Can\'t really agree with you Paxx. The goal of a forum also is to create a community, a group of people that can talk to each other. And, in the future, play PS together. It would be nice to give that communtiy a chance to talk to each other about other stuff then PS, as probably also will happen in the game itself. That\'s why I vote for a OT forum. But who am I? :)
By the way, I think people posting their own swords and suck are also pretty off-topic. So they would have their own forum too.

I agree with you here para, there is alot of people posting posts that does not fit in the \"general forum\" just because there is no other place to put it, sure these are the boards of PS but that does not mean everything must be about PS.
When you meet people in a community like this you start to feel... well, bound to them, you get some kind of \"friend\" status for them, and therefore, if you have something you want to say thats not about PS, an Off Topic forum would be a great board to place it, leave the other boards for PS talk.
Just grant us one single Off Topic forum - thats all we ask.

Kada El\'s forum has an off-topic chitter chatter forum where I\'m sure you can post whatever you want. This is the official Planeshift forum and I would prefer not to have an off-topic one here.
Of course, I will defer to the powers that be if they want to create one but don\'t look for any moderation from me on it.

But i think most of the PS team won\'t agree with an OT forum tho :(

Damnit Venge, the reason Kada\'s Forums are frequented so much and liked better than the PS forums is because it is devoid of all these spammers. Besides the forum for newcomers is moderated by Aelya :]

hehe thats right...i make sure that once they go in they never go out :evil: and yea i agree with aendar. i come to this forum for amusement such as laughing at the stupidity of many people. i go to kada\'s boards for something fun and interesting.

Well with an off-topic forum we would most likely avert spamming in the more serious boards(which would be of importance for the dev team aswell because they would not have to sort un-serious threads from serious ones)
I dont really see the \"down-side\" with an off-topic board.
An off topic board is a board where people can just do chit-chat and say everything they like without having to disturb the more serious boards.
Right now I could make an endless list of \"non-serious\" threads in the \"general\" board just because we do not have an off-topic one, would it really be so hard to add an off topic board?
I mean, if you need a moderator for it just put a big bunch of names in a hat then draw one :D, or, err, something else, my point being, we need an off topic board!
An off topic board would also result in a stronger community as the persons within it would get to know eachother alot better
And yeah you can say: if you want an off-topic board go to another forum, but that would result in a shattered community because they have to chat within two forums which would just be... confusing,

As you see, people are already posting in two different forums about Planeshift. I expect there are others. I don\'t see the harm.
In general, I try as best I can not to alter the style and tone of the boards here, while still keeping them from totally getting off track. I\'m not trying to make people into geniuses. ;-)
I believe the forums here are serving their purpose.

Yeah but you could improve that \"purpose\" to 110%, coome on, I knooow you want to, Besides, change is \"in\" these days, thing change and people stay happy,
and when things change into the better people stay very happy (the devs too ;))

i know as strange as it sounds most of the the time the things i post do have logic behind them, its logic that only i and my bretheren would understand such as when you put your hand on something youre not really touching it. I dont really mean to get things that off topic i guess its just a talent of mine but i just want to have fun, this life is so short lived and all and if youre all serious all the time then life flys by and you have missed everything. If i am causing too many problems please let me know, i do not mean to do it, i just simply want to bring a little spice every now and then as abstract as i am maybe i can inspire other people to come up with new ideas but i will try to keep a lid on my insanity from now on ok.

Ummmm zig......do you have any connections with the real world....? Cause you talk as if this is the only place where you are allowed to talk and interact. If life is so short....perhaps you should go read a book....or something.

actualy i am restricted to this wing of the facility and i cannot go out side without supervision of a nurse that has jurisdiction over our section, sigh my life would be so much easier had it been that way, no i am actualy a normal person that has just had to endure one to many hardships and i make up for my sadness with a false sence of funny insane demented sort of guy. Do not pitty me for pitty is the mind killer. Its the little death that brings about total obliviation...sorry about that i had a dune relaps again... now you know my story and now you know why i am the way i am.
