Title: Guardians of the Way guild
Post by: Learch on March 25, 2005, 05:09:35 pm
Just wondering if the leadership of Guardians of the Way is around.

- What is GotW about?
- Which Way are we Guarding?
- What does it need Guarding from? :)

When I started playing Planeshift, within 1/2 hour, I was recruited to GotW. Apart from some casual in-game chat with other recruits, that\'s about where the \"guildness\" of the Guild ended.

Considering there are 240 guildmembers, I would have expected to see at least SOME statement of raison d\'etre here.
There are guilds with less than 10 members that have well-articulated goals, which, when compared with what I DON\'T know about GotW, makes them look pretty darn appealing.

So, sell me. Why should I stay with GotW?

Well it is quite obvious :P

You were recruited to one of the mass-recruiting guilds.
So guilds which recruit everyone on their sight, that often have no visible goal (if there is no goal, anyone can join)

Reasons to stay... uhh none :P

Mass recruiters..yay! (i get alot of them in my alt ;) )

Soo...try kadas list dude. you seem like a good guy lookin for a nice guild. thebbb.tk try some of those guilds sites. Im sure they would like to have a guy like you in there ;)

Leave the guardians of the way (which way? im guessing none) join a good guild. shure it\'ll take time with them but its well worth it.

I can list two guilds;
Number 1- Peace Keepers
Number 2- Azure Sun Legion
just look for people...if someone asks you to join then ask them why. don\'t just join to be apart of a guild. It\'s not why do they want you, it\'s why do you want them? Rembember that and you will be fine.

Edit: this is the adderess to Azure Sun Legion, http://www.asl.us.tt/

I just haven\'t left the house yet. :)

Thanks for the frank responses.
I\'m no longer the naive noob I used to be. LOL.

So, idle curiosity:
- what does a guild get if it has obscene numbers of members? Bragging rights? Other?
- does the quality of the members of a guild make any difference? If a guild is 90% noobs (hey, GotW let ME in!), does that change anything?

The number means nothing in the world of respectable guilds.

And if a guild is 90% noob then it wont last. a guild with a few good members are more respected. And they have to be strong to their beliefs, well..thats describing the defenders.

that\'s describing the Defenders, Azure Sun Legion, Peace Keepers, and a few other guilds. Not many mind you, but a few...

these weird noob-mass reqruiting guilds are getting on my nerves.... 240 members?!?!?!?!
Whos with me when i say there should be some type of thing you need to make a guild.
One game i played guilds where cokpletly banned because of things like this. Their alternative was having gm- lead guilds only. I dont think that would be a bad idea.

Why does it bother you. I\'ve never seen one of their members in my life.  :O

well when you are in game, and you see a group of people playing planeshift without any rp it makes you wonder...

My point is I never see Guardians of the Way in-game even though they have 240 members. Other non-rp guild, yes I agree with you.

Also take note that not a single GotW member has stepped in here to defend themselves. Makes you wonder.

Slagle starts hitting mass recruited newbs with his axe, \"Hmm....234 to go...\"

Hey, whatever guild has all these members...declare war on me, I need some axe training.

Maybe im crazy, but this should be closed. it more belongs in general discussion. it is not a recruitment or promotional thread. nothing to do with what this section is about.
