Title: Hardware Acceleration problem
Post by: Korso on March 30, 2005, 06:02:56 pm
I am having a bit of trouble running Planeshift: Crystal Blue...client version 0.3.009. When I try to run the applications (if I have the acceleration on) the command prompt comes up and then before any graphical interfaces show up they all crash.

But when I turn hardware acceleration off...the game, updater, and setup program all work fine.

This is what I am using...any help would be greatly appreciated:

OS: Windows Xp Pro SP2
Processor: Amd Athlon 750mhz
Ram: 640mb pc133 sdram
Video Card: 128mb Geforce4 Ti4200
Connection: DSL

Thanks again Hope to see all of you online soon

Edit: Oh and if it helps I just checked...and my FPS = 0.3 - 0.5 (sigh)

Edit: Graphics driver is Nvidia Forceware 71.84 (Released March 11th)

Hehe, running with acceleration off was horrid...it took me 5-10 minutes to walk up a set of stairs.  Maybe when I get to upgrade to my 3ghz system...Thanks though.

Have you tried updating your video driver? That could solve your problems with hardware acceleration.

My driver is the latest release from Nvidia 71.84

Ouch, and Nvidia is a good video driver. Radions are the ones who tend to give problems in PS.

A word of warning though, 750 MHz is pretty slow for planeshift, I used to play on a P3 866 MHz, and in some parts, most notably the plazaa, I got some really bad framerates.

I still think there was some problem in the migration to the newest version of CrystalSpace. The version .8 didn\'t have such big lags at the plaza
