Im not sure how to help you but I have heard about this problem from other people. Perhaps the search feature on the forum will prove useful to this.

The program shuts down, or your computer?  My boyfriend has dual Radeon video cards in his computer and the game really hates him for it -- it\'ll just reboot his computer at odd times.

His machine is an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (forget the core and clock speed), with 1 GB RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro, as well as a PCI Radeon 7000 card hooked up to his TV.  Moggie told me Planeshift doesn\'t like Radeons, so I guess it really hates his computer ^_^;

First and foremost -- I\'d try updating your video card\'s drivers and see if that does anything.  I believe it states this in the sticky at the top of this forum.  Also make sure that you run the updater for Planeshift and see if this fixes anything.

Try to be more specific in your crash reports.  Were you prompted to save a Debug file?  If so, post that file (you must upload it to a web storage service first).  If not, please name your Operating System, System Specs (processor type, clock speed, amount of RAM, and video card) and try to be specific in describing what happened.  Where did you fall off the map?  How did the Underworld crash?  Did your machine reboot, or did Planeshift just close?  Did you get a stop error? We prefer it when people don\'t post unless they\'ve read all the available (relevant) information about their problem, and unless they\'re going to give us needed details such as game version, system specs, drivers installed, etc.

It\'s a bug after the latest update. That introduced darkness in all regions and random crashes for me atleast.

I did not have it until last night, and it\'s happening constantly since the update while passing through the road, and also when entering the arena area.

This appears to have been caused by something in the last update.

It does not create dump files either.  It just closes the client in several areas that did not crash before.

The one time I passed through I took a step and fell off the edge of the world.  It took 13 tries to walk through before it I was able to recover after a reload without falling off the map.  This is very reminiscent of the problem in the well that\'s supposedly been fixed.

I forgot to add, the arena, death exit portal area, and the road lighting seems to have changed.

Since the change, these crashes started, I never had a problem with them until now.

Sometimes reading through the posts, which state to do and upgrade cause the new problems... ;)  Look at the problems created by the updater trying to update files that were in use.

Admins, it\'s not fair to assume that problems are old, sometimes they seem to be reintroduced, after they been fixed.  Your not a good developer unless you fix one problem and create 10 more.  It\'s the nature of programming.

It seems to have to do with the camera view.  All the crashes, I was in 1st person.  When I was free mode, it let me through but still crashed, and recovered on the reload.

Well stated Vandel, your right about the bugs, in order for the game any farther, they have to be fixed, not just delayed and be congragulated when they are. There will ALWAYS be new bugs when some are fixed but that is the process. Anyway, sometimes things should be restated, because when they are old and never stated again, well you tend to forget or overlook them and not feel to greatly about fixing them.

Vandel is absoulutely true. this update introduced major bugging fantasy.

All the maps went dark, and game crashed on almost every action.

When devs r about to introduce an update they must test it on different PCs and then release it. Before i updated on 30th March, the game was so stable, too much fun to play even with little things to do.
So updates are there to fix old bugs not to create new ones. In this manner justify you\'r self PS will never be stable.

They must verify updates exessively to be safe before issueing them to players.

We actually do test. The maps are not dark for most of us. Did you update VERY recently?

Yes, yesterday (March 31).  I\'ll update again, to see if it fixes anything... Maybe it was caused by the updater issue, as I had to restart it twice for failing to have access to locked files that were already in use by the updater, but it took over 2 hours to do it\'s thing, and said it completed.... I tried it again after the crashes and it said everything was upto date.

Off to try again, there really was lighting differences in the last update, at least it appeared to be to me.

Yeah jorrit, the light thing is fixed thanks GOD. Didn\'t you ppl saw darkenss on you\'r testing machine?
Must include more machines with odd specs so tests r more reliable.

Just discovered PSClient won\'t crash or crash less if you have
disabled the sound from PSSetup.
Title: Same thing is happening to me.

Everytime the game has to load, it just exits out. No exception error or anything. Just goes to desktop. If I try to go to the tavern, once I walk in, it exits me out. Once I relog, it says I fell off the edge of the world and died. It will not even pick up loading screens, it will just crash when it has to load.

Slagle, have u tried disabling sound?
From PS Setup disable sound. I was having many crashes, when one day i read on forums if u r getting crashes try disabling sound before reporting.

And that fixed my problem. If you see in PS root folder there is a log file for PSClient.exe named as psclient.txt. I saw in it that it could\'nt find some sounds.

Yeah, sound affects lots of games and causes problems. Not to forget that it also slows down your client.
