I think this is an awesome idea, and puts some realism in it too. During character creation, you should be able to select which town is your home town. Whenever you come back from the death realm, or start the game, or spawn, you will be sent to this one instead of automatically to Hydlaa.
Also, you should be able to change your home town after every 2 weeks or something to resemble moving. Having a player able to \'move\' anytime though, would stop them from having to walk all the way to another town. So setting being able to move to like once every 2-3 weeks is good.

Hometown idea is cool. The fact that you can change it every two weeks to give you a moving advantage. Thats not so cool.

That would mean like 6 new towns...maybe in a year ;)
And the last part IS bad. (sorry for that) but man, hometown is kinda..err..permanent. \"where your originaly from\" suualy stays the same...at least in cali...

I like the idea too, although they do have plans for multiple portals in the death realm so when you die I don\'t think you should necessarily warp back to your hometown, but I like the rest of it :).

Very good idea, but i dont think you changing hometown would be good idea, think about it if we make it that way, soon the death realm is some kind of teleporting place, you just die an dgo where you want to ;), not too good.. even if there would be a death penalty system everyone would start using it as a teleport.. death realm = teleport .. nah, not good idea

With the 12 races, not sure if I read this somewhere in another thread, or dreamed about it, but I suspect in the final release there will be 12 towns, one for each race. That would be the logical course of action.
With maybe some mixed towns and villages in between.
With that said, I suspect you\'ll start out in your chosen town. Or based on what you selected during character creation. There is a mild hint that this is what they have in mind, as you can state that you grew up in a different town during character creation, so it does, this or that for your character stats, and possibly will control where you start the game.
