Waiting on server data... That\'s what the client says when I have filled my Account and nick in. What do I do to get further? I have had this problem for more than a month and I have been checking the forums for answers all since that but I havent found anything that makes any diffrence.
Spec.
Amd athlon 3,2ghz
1024mb ram
ATI radeon X800XT
256kb/s broodband
Windows XP service pack 2
Please help me

The first thing you must check is what is reported next to the server name.
1) You must select \"laanx\", not \"localhost\".
2) It must say a number next to \"laanx\", usually around 500. If it says \"Fail\", the server cannot be reached even for a ping
Now assuming both are OK, and you still get \"waiting for data\" for longer than a minute or two, it is to be assumed that there is something blocking the actual data traffic from you to the server / from the server to you.
The server uses UDP (not TCP!) port 7354 to communicate with your client. Therefore, this port must not be blocked by any device between your program and the server. Most likely, there is a (or many) firewalls that filter, and they may block it. Enable that port for incoming and outgoing / forwarding in any firewalls you find.

I\'ve tried all of that but nothing have made any difference. Could this have anything to do with me having service pack 2? Anyway, I really want to start playing so any help is appreciated.

You did run the updater, right? Make sure your client is 0.3.009 or whatever. When I downloaded the client, I got 3.007 and it didn\'t display the Laanx server. As soon as I updated, it was fine.
I doubt it has anything to do with the SP you have, but Windows can do some funky things. /me sticks with Win2K - WinXP\'s skinny little sister
Gah, the bloat!

Hmm, XP SP2 is said to actually have enabled the firewall, so it might be the problem. You should try disabling it to check, then you can work on it more specifically. And if you didn\'t update already, do so, the versions ocasionally change quickly, even without the actual version number increasing.

Oi, forgot about that.
It doesn\'t automatically enable it per se, it bugs the user to enable it without telling them what it does and such.
Do as Seytra says, kriller, and disable the firewall. (go to the Control Panel to do so)

Thanks for the help guys but it doesn\'t seems to make any diffrence disabling the firewall. Any other idea about what I could try? I\'m really greatful. Anyway I\'ve had this problem since 0.3.006 and the only thing changed now in 0.3.009 is that the thing ,that my character is supposed to stand on, has started rotating.

Call your ISP and ask them if they are UDP firewalling you.
Regards.

I also have this problem....Running Ubuntu Linux....Firestarter disabled...UDP port 7354 being forwarded by my Linksys Firewall.
I\'ve seen this problem mentioned a lot and no solutions presented that work...
Is there a fix or not?

That message it\'s waiting for is the most critical message, that\'s why it\'s waiting on it in the first place.
Something somewhere dropped that package and you did never get it, that\'s why

You can also make a tracert to laanx.fragnetics.com to discard network issues.
