Title: Update
Post by: Aurora on April 21, 2005, 12:56:59 am
The main file is up but for us poor people with 56k net, it will take many hours to download. So my question, is how long till the update will be avaliable and will we be able to use chaos\'s updater?

cheers

Btw .  You have done a brilliant job getting this to work, im sure it was no easy task and we are eternally grateful
:D

Unless Im mistaken, the version on the main downloads section of the site is still the old version of 3.9.

Be patient folks :D

Mathious is correct. My updater works fine. You just won\'t be able to get any new binaries (as there aren\'t any yet ;) ). Just give dfryer some time to work and we\'ll be up and running in no time. :)

Read my post. My current updater works fine (though if you download zip entries individually you\'ll have slightly larger file sizes than the PS updater gives you). Dfryer is working on the PS Updater and updated PS binaries. For now, just wait. ;)

Hey Cha0s, perhaps you should repost the link to your updater.

Everyone else: please stop asking the same question.

Hmm, maybe there should be a restrictment of posts per week for us newbies. Worth considering?

...thats because its unofficial.
Hopefully not for long though - I honestly believe it should be part of the mac distro. Have you asked about that ChaOs?

IGNORE THIS POST!!!!!!   IGNORE THIS POST!!!!!! IGNORE THIS POST!!!!!!

I didn\'t read your post fully, cha0s.

i read that other thread, and you said to DL your updater. then update ps, blah blah blah.  but b4 you said that you said not to update because we\'d get an older version.  so, what i understood, is that we DL the updater, but not use it until dfryer makes new binaries.

Questionaire:
Yea, you got it the second time through. ;)

As soon as dfryer releases the update, I\'ll edit my post to reflect that.

Mathious:
It\'s nice of you to say that, but in the end the normal updater should be working at some point, so it would only be temporary. I don\'t think my updater is any faster than the PS one (though it would be interesting to test), so there\'s no real purpose to replacing the normal one.

Fair play ChaOs - your updater is sweet though.

Ive tried using the official one against yours (albeit when I built my own compile of PS) and yours updated in roughly the same amount of time (perhaps a little faster).

I do think the interface is better with yours, but I suppose they wanna keep everything as uniform as possible.

Ah well - keep up the good work.
Hmmm, a little off topic - but would you mind having a look at the end of the building ps on mac thread for me? I cant work out what im doing wrong :(
