Title: Playable Giants
Post by: Rageburst on August 24, 2002, 10:10:50 pm
Is it ok if you make the giant races... VERY big? Just like twice as tall as the others. I think this would definitely enhance the impression of racial differences. It will definitely spice up the look of the community. To crawl in doors, maybe have them be able to crawl... simply a position change option, and added crawling animation, right?

That\'s a cool idea... but what about doorways and other small necissary passages?

Like I said, simply give giants an option to crouch down. I don\'t think this will be too much of a problem. It\'s also the more subtle things that makes a game memorable.

Haha, I think it\'s a great idea. It\'d add a little extra flavor.

Sounds good... as long as the size is right.

Man, that would be cool. Playing a giant, bullying around dwarves and other small beings..Too cool. If a giant crawled into a building, wouldn\'t he have some trouble getting back out?

Where would the giants hail from though? you would probably have to make a city full of buildings 2 times (about) taller than any in the other cities

That\'d just be cool, imagine a small dwarf coming to this huge town, where doors are a couple of times larger than him.
He goes into a bar and people just push him around, heh, I like it.

Giant: Hey shorty! Buy me a drink or I\'ll kick your butt!
Dwarve: Why are guys so mean to me?!
Giant: BUY THE DRINK!

Wait...This idea has down sides. What if th dwarf in the bar started hitting on some Drunken she-giant *shudders.*

Hmm its odd that some think that just because you have giants every door has to be able to accomodate them. Why not have areas that giant races cannot enter due to there size, a penalty if you wish for being as large (and as often as not stronger) as the other races. Gives players a little bit of mystery to there race, after all what do dwarves get up to behind there small doors. And what?, do dwarves wonder do kran get up to up those overly large stairs (with steps to tall for a dwarf to easily climb up)...

Gamebalance and racial balance and class balance is the death of all good games, differance is and often even wild difference is the key to getting the old imagination going and making things fresh. What a player cant see fully they will think and speculate about, speculation becomes wonder, wonder becomes rumor, rumor becomes myth and myth creates action (with a good niggling thought of a asentive(?) behind the wall), adventure is to find and search for the unknown and if all is known to all then there is no adventure is there.

nurse?... ill take my medication now.
Title: armor
Post by: ridgit on August 31, 2002, 11:04:48 pm
if there were giants would there be diffrent types of armor or would it be 1 size fits all or some kind of magical changeing armor that changes sizes from dwarf to giant

My guess is there would be different sizes, though mabye on some really rare armor from a difficult dungeon the size would be eliminated, it would suck to fight for hours, and this drops but you cant use it because you are a big \'un

Unless the game is made so that there\'s only one model for a specific armor and that this model is simply superimposed on any character of any race, maybe the size will be a problem.

On the other hand, it\'s quite possible that wearing any armor will look a bit different for each race. Since this is a game, a one armor fits all is applicable... or maybe having separate armor might also be a good thing... a matter of adding more items and art.

i dont think it should be one size fits all, a dwarf wearing a kran\'s armor is just not good

maybe if you go through dungeouns and the prize is some armor the person that picks it up sees it as whatever size they are (small, regular, large) and it stays that way for example;

A kran wins some armor during a tournament and the item he gets is a large armor and only large races can wear it........now if a a regular or small sized armor race were to win they would win whichever size fit them

My point is that on basic stuff that is easily attainable it doesnt matter what size you are, but it would be unfortunate if your guild say went to a dungeon and got a very nice armor, which was no drop, but they couldnt put it to use because there isnt a Kran around at the time, It would just rot there on the floor, and the efforts would have been wasted.

Well, that would be another disadvantage for the giant and the other races. You know, adventuring isn\'t as easy as they say :D
Title: changeing person

maybe if there could be some you could bring the armor to and then he can change the size for a price

That\'s a cool idea, and he could make something small with the left over metal. like shakrams or something.

One of these days a dwarf is going to go kick some major giant butt. Then what? Huh?

With the one armor fits all idea, I tink they meant it to shrink or fit according to who had it.
