Yes, the character development is VERY unique to most MMORPG\'s I\'ve played and VERY deep in customization. It took me a little bit to figure it out, but I like it quite a bit. I\'m just kind of curious how the different magic types are going work.. hmm..

Yeah the magic system looked nice...

pretty confusing for a newbie though, ya?
ive always had an idea for somthin like this...
When creating your character all you do is choose race...
at level 3 or so you choose class (newbie would most likey understand basics of the game by then allowing him to make a better choice.) and at level 7 or so.....you get the picture  ;)

ive been saying this alot lately but umm...there will be no \"classes\" in planeshift. there will be only abilities.you will be able to train any ability to any point of skill you wish.for example if you were a great fighter but wanted to learn some magic, you could get a simple magic spell and work your skill in spellcasting up from that.higher level of spellcasting will of course mean better spells.

Can you not choose from Rogue, Paladin and such?

well i guess you could call yourself that if you gained skill in that type of profession. but no there will not be any classes.

You don\'t choose by clicking a box when you set up your character.

You choose by your actions in the game.  If you want to be a rogue, BE a rogue.  If you want to be a fighter, FIGHT things.

That\'s the concept.

but if you create your character the quick way you get to chose from a rogue/fighter and such

Those are simple shortcuts to help new players get started who don\'t feel like reading the entire User Guide and setting up all that complex stuff themselves.  :-)

Yes, those are the \"Quick Paths\".  They just distribute your starting stat and skill points into areas that are generally considered to go in that area.  So for example if you choose \'Paladin\' then your points may be distrubuted more in the area of combat skills and stats like strength.

The \"Quick Paths\" are just a way for player to start quickly or if they are unsure how they should assign their starting points.  Once in game these path names have no meaning.
