I noticed that there is a rule for names, including no movie character names... Well, I guess that rules out mine (Leeloo - or Leeloo Minai in game, as it required a last name), but noone has suggested I change it yet. I am trying to figure out a better name, but finding one I like and that fits me is not easy.
How strict is this rule? Should I expect to be asked to change my name? I already have found a new last name, that is not from any movie, and plan on using in after the wipe, so we\'re down to the Leeloo part. I can see the need for the rule to avoid names like Batman, but let\'s use Peter Pan as an example. Peter Pan is also clearly a movie character, but Peter is not.
In short: Will I be allowed to continue using the name Leeloo, if I can\'t come up with a better one?

Eventually someone will most likely ask you to change your name, and if you aren\'t ready by then, he/she\'ll just use the random name generator on you, and you\'ll have a brand new name, which took only a few milliseconds to find. But as long as no GMs tell you that you\'re doing something wrong, I wouldn\'t worry too much about it. They usually spot people quite fast, so if they haven\'t talked to you yet, your name is probably somewhat okay.

My name was changed, which was understandable. It used to be Indigo with no last name. Apparently real English words are looked down upon as well as names from popular media. (last I played the game there were no naming conventions)
What surprised me was that I was not notified in any way that my name would undergo the change. One day I logged into the server and it was different, that\'s all there was to it.
So even if you have a better character name, it might not be used unless you are the one that asks a GM to change your name.
~Indi
edit: Just to clarify: I harbor no ill-will towards any GMs. They\'re probably quite busy and don\'t have time to notify everyone that their names don\'t fit PS\'s standards. I was just caught off-guard by my name change, which was deserved since it was so very un-RP-ish. :)
edit^2: Ah, well thanks, Demarthl. I figured it was something like that. I like the new name just fine. ^_^

As a personal rule of thumb, I give everyone a message before I change their name, that usually says something like:
\"Greetings, this is GM Nepthis. Your name currently does not fit with our Naming Policy. (reason). You can /tell Nepthis a name of your choosing if you wish, but if not, a random name will be generated for you. If you have any questions feel free to ask them.\"
The only exceptions to this is when I\'m dealing with an overly stupid or offensive name- ones which, as far as I can see, were only chosen to provoke a bad response from fellow players or GMs. These get no warning because I believe it is not deserved.
But there\'s no set rules for how an individual GM approaches a situation. Some may not give warnings at all, but that\'s their call. You can always contact the GM and politely ask to hear the reason(s) why your name was deemed inappropriate, and they should oblige. (This should not be an invitation to start arguing with them, though. Their decision will not change).
Now, Leeloo: I\'ve seen you around ingame and I did wonder if your name came from the movie. However, my opinion is that the name is not overly popular or well-known. It\'s quite legit as a fantasy name, in my books. Of course, that does not mean that another GM may feel a different way, but I would assume that since nobody has contacted you over it so far, most GMs are in agreement that \"Leeloo\" is acceptable.
