Nice work there. Excellent form on the last one. Though you may get flamed for drawing dragons in here :P. (that doesn\'t mean I don\'t love dragons. In fact, my planned non-PS story is all about dragons...sort of :D)

Today broght me my new inking set! (4 ball point pens, with heavy- light lines) and 4 colored pigment pens! i also got a new pencil sketch set with 8 different hardnesses!

Much improvement in the second Enki pic there, Taser, well done. :) The pencil shading really adds something. I think in the first version, the medium you used (pen?) is too thick to be used to shade with nicely. When you\'re using ink, ideally you need some thin tips and shade with cross-hatching rather than lines. Here\'s a good example (http://www.csus.edu/indiv/w/wigginsm/Images/skel3.jpg). :)
Edit: Btw, I url\'ed some of your images to prevent the nasty table scrolling that was going on.

You think that is odd? I once (meaning 15+ years ago) started a pic of a Mer-pega-unicorn. In fact, it may still exist somewhere, if you\'re interested in seeing it.
Little advice, though, study some pics of animals and people, and maybe grab a book or tut on drawing perspectives and forms. All your work seems to be in profile or head on.

Very nice, I especially like the watercoloured one. It has fitting expression and the eye looks very real. :) The size of the eye makes it look a bit like a baby dragon who\'s just about to do his/her first cool dragon trick.

hmm, but turning the contrast on my monitor several times higher reveals some traces :)
I am not a fan of breast enlarging potions but a different clothing style would be nice :)

Hello everyone, i may have just registered, but be aware that i have been watching these forums a while.
I was coloring with my Jasc Paint Shop Pro earlier and created this picture-

I figured \"This came out amazingly good! I should create a tutorial for this.
Thus, here it is. If you will follow my steps, you can learn to master this powerful and inexpensive program
Firstly, I would like to thank Kang who drew the picture in the first place. Never would have been possible without him =)

And lastly, all of you for reading this!
Materials Needed:
A clean pen drawing.
Jasc Paintshop Pro (this tutorial is for PSP 8 )
A pack of Altoids (cinnamon is nice)
A computer monitor :roll:
When you have these materials, your ready to go!

Step 1: Start out with a nice clean pen drawing. IT NEEDS TO BE CLEAN!!!! PRIORITY ALERT: NOT CLEAN = BAD FINISH!. In this case, i am using my roleplay character Taser Rander, drawn by the all powerful Kang Holion! :) Remember this: Kang R Pwn u badly =)
What you want to do is erase all the white using your Backround eraser. In this case, i am using the 500 pixel brush, with sharpness of 0, opacity 100, and no step- just to obliterate everything. If your going for little thin lines, get prepared to do some extra work. When your done cleaning the linework up, name this raster layer \"Line art\". Go into the layer properties and under blend mode press \"Multiply\" from the drop down. Now we can get coloring!
Make another raster layer and leave all the perty options alone and name it \"coloring\".
I wanted a black backround, so i did that part after i got the base colors in
Take your flood fill, and make the whole layer black. Place it under the lineart layer, and you should see a grey outline. Take your airbrush tool and on the black layer, color the base colors down. For this i used white for clothing, brown/red for the hair, gold for the belt buckle and brown for the gloves. Make a dot off to the side with each color for future reference. So far, you should have this:

Starting to look nice, isnt it?
Make another raster layer, and name it \"Shading\".
Set the opacity to 33, and start shading in what must be shaded. keep light sources in mind the WHOLE time!!!
Now it should look like this:

Create yourself a texture brush to resemble fur, and then set it to a small size, around 15. Open brush variance and set the Rotation to angle, and jitter to 2. leave the other stuff alone.using the airbrush, set the opacity to 2 and start using this to touch up shadows. also use this to create any patterns on the fur. Take two more shades of the color of the clothing, one darker and one lighter, and place it randomly. use very low, or no hardness and very low opacity. This makes the clothing look more like... clothing =). Woah! her hair looks flat. Pickup a color to use for the highlights and use a circular brush, size 5-10 and 0 hardness. I used orange for highlights. You also need shadows for the hair. I used brown. just scatter small lines going in the pattern of the hair
Your almost done!

Well, you can say \"im Done\" right now, or go on and do this last step just to make it more proffesional. I recommend the latter =)
Go back to your beloved lineart layer, and go on the menu at the top to
/adjust/add-remove noise/ edge preserving smooth.
Now go to adjust/brightness and contrast/highlight-midtone-shadow
Set all the variables to -100 and all your lines will become solid and black!
for kicks, i went to adjust/softness/soft focus and applied the Dream filter to the Color layer.
Well, if you did this right, your finished product will look like this!!!

This and the first one are different, but by doing this step by step method, they came out almost the same!

Very nice tutorial and also nice art, both you and kang_holion. I use some of these techniques too. :)
Being such a lazy guy, I prefer to use multiply-layer when colouring lineart. This lets you avoid the erasing part. Just add a raster layer with \"multiply\" blend mode over the original lineart and start colouring in the multiply layer. Works in GIMP too.
Layers can be very neat and useful. With layers it\'s good to remember that only a few file formats support them, so the layering data is lost when saved to .png or .jpg. One may want to keep an additional source file that saves layers, such as .psp, just in case one ever needs to re-edit/recolour the image.

As for Taser\'s art: I don\'t see a problem with it. She has improved considerably, and her dragons / griffons are getting quite decent. :tup:

aww man, i wanted to see what all of the tension was all about, but when i came on all of the posts had been deleted. Its probably better that my virgin eyes had not gazed upon what was written from the sound of things. lol. If it was omeone making fun of your art, then that would be downright awful. To degrade someone whose tryting to practice something new is a horrible act. if you want to gice input, try to help them not hurt them.

Also, how is that top held up, in the middle? It\'s not magically glued to the chest, and there are no straps... so it really shouldn\'t suddenly move in height.

I\'m talking about the part in the middle of the chest that seems to have a /\\-like \"bump.\" It would work if the clothes were a seperate mesh, but \"glued\" onto the chest like that, the appearance is rather odd.

Please, I am the last person in the world you\'d have to have an argument with over artistic nudity ;) Taser is free to share her nude skin with anyone she wants, privately. We\'ve discussed this and found no problems with it.
Clothing does indeed belong on a fenki and not on a tiger because Enkidukai are humanoids, while tigers are not. There is a clear distinction. Enkidukai do not wander around naked, although they are certainly more loose when it comes to their apparel.
You know what I\'m disappointed about? That Taser did this not because of art, but because of a request from someone who had art at the very bottom of a priority list. That, and being walked up to and hearing\" OMG KARYUU YOUR NEKKID ON MY SCREEN.\"
Lots of things are beautiful, but not everything is necessarily appropriate in certain places, ey?

I have run several searches, but found no reference to using 3ds Max for editing existing PS skins and meshes.
Could someone point me in the right direction?

I\'m not sure about editing the meshes with any 3D program, but editing skins is extremely easy - locate the models.zip archive, and extract the various files you would like to change. For example, arm.png in the fenki folder, etc. These can be edited with any 2D program :) Lots of fun!
And come to think of it, I\'m not so sure if the meshes may be editable at all. There is an exporter that must be used for models to be usable in PlaneShift, and I\'m not sure it works both ways.

Hi.
I\'m also not aware of such importers. In addition the models are copyrighted by PlaneShift Team, so you couldn\'t really share the mod. Best to use 100% one\'s own models or leave them as they are. Exporters to cal3d and CS are quite abundant. Stickied guides help there.

Although the images are very nice, don\'t go overboard with filters and blurs, Taser :> The eyes feel unfocused. Sometimes, a small sharpness here and there can really make a large difference. Have no fear of sharp edges.

I am using this new kind of medium... and its a sort of creepy cool.
You use them like charcoals. Smudge mark smudge repeat. They come in 12 packs, going from white to gray to black.
THe black looks like regular charcoal, and so doesnt the darkest gray, but the makers added _OIL_ to the lighter ones.
When used properly, you can make drawings that look like oil paintings 8o. they only cost 6.50 at my local art store, and when combined with thy magical watercolor paper.....
they are so damn beautiful ;(

Love it :) Though a few things: remember you\'re posting in the Fan Art section of the forum - a few off-topic pieces of art are alright, but don\'t make them the majority. If you\'d like, you can open a general \"Taser\'s Art\" thread in Hydlaa Plaza.
In the photomanip, you have the fur growing in random directions. I think the thing that weirded me out most was the fur on her nose :P Study feline faces - all of the fur has a point or several points of beginning, and a definite direction of growth. In some areas, around the eyes, nose, and maw, the hairs are much shorter than say, on the cheeks. It generally tends to smooth down the neck and chest as well. Check some stock imagery sites (http://ps-mc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9) for cat photos, and since they\'re generally at a really high resolution, you\'ll be able to notice such details. Just something that makes all work more believable :)

In art, nudity is very acceptable. I agree with Dunadurium too. A regular cat doesn\'t wear clothes, why should an enkidukai have to? Because it is civilized? Define civilized. Does civilized have in its definition \"wear clothes\" or anything of the sort? I don\'t believe so.
I think an Enkidukai\'s fur sort of makes up for their clothes. I mean, it makes sense.... What are the main purposes of clothes? To keep us warm, to protect our skin? maybe to maintain some decency? Well, i think an Enki\'s fur can keep it quite warm, protect its skin, and slightly maintain its decency.
As for art, nudity in art should be accepted in a mature way. In art, there should be no limits, for to impose limits would be to take away the very essence of all art... Freedom. Art should have no limits, not even by way of nudity.
Ok, my piece of mind has been let out :D

Enkidukai are not cats ;) It\'s all fine and dandy to draw similarities, but all similarities stop after some time. Enkidukai are humanoids, just like Klyros. They are a tribal people that are heavily into decoration, both with fur alone and with clothes and accessories. Yes, they wear clothes, and so they will always. You will not see official nude Enkidukai, any more than you will see nude Klyros.

Well at first look I was like OMGOSH friggin awesome, but on a little closer look I have spotted some (minor) issues, right beard(?) seems to be a little off, in my opinion it should be a bit more subtle (like the left part of it), and at some points in the silhouette (outline) of the fur it is rather obvious that it was edited (on some spots the background is blackened), there is something in the left eye that somehow irks me, I can\'t get a hold of it though (it may be just the shadow).
However it is far beyond anything I could do.

Ok Taser I finally made it and I am glad I did. Nice skins!! I likes!! The \"bling\" is awesome to.

Now I know how a pure white enki would look like after a sewer\'s long journey :D (Moogie isn\'t anymore around but... Kiirani?)
The part that imo is the better is the head. The way you placed the lighter brown towns in it looks very realistic and gives personality, along with the chosen colour for eyes. I\'m anyway unsure about the colour chosing for the sout (nose) I think that either a darker brown or black could fit there better.
Also the back view, the fur seems too uniform (perhaps you spent less time there, or perhaps I can\'t distinguish the work that was done there) but I\'d suggest breaking it a little, I don\'t know, perhaps a different fur colour all over the spine?
Another thing I noticed, and I\'m unsure about the intention is that when reaching the upper clothing (still in back view) there\'s a change in fur colour, I assume that was to denote that the fur was (rubbed?) in a different way due to the clothing being oppressive.
As for the legs, just above the clothe, there\'s a zone where the texture seems to have been rubbered, even affecting the red clothing in its upper part. I don\'t know if that was an intended effect or not, but it looks like if you\'d enshortened the clothe in that zone, and applied more fur... can\'t really guess why that is happening, perhaps you could explain what you were intending.
Other than that I think it is very great.
As an end note, as for the rings and accessories, I think they will intend them to work as separate items (such as armours) so when skinning a character, it should be done without any accessories (those could be picked up later, avaiable for all fenki, in this case, despite their fur colour) what I think you do have to put in the skin no matter what are tatooes and things like those.
I managed myself again to end up making a big post, hope some of this criticism is found useful.

Armors will have to cover the entire body, minus the head, so that changing the skin texture won\'t affect the armor texture. Thus there can be no openings through which skin or fur shows - and thus Taser\'s skin is more or less just for fun and a personal project :)

Looks sweet. *pats Taser on the head* I also liked the shiney stuffs you added in your previous skin. That\'s the way for clothing designer. :)
If you need fabrics/textures, can check out eg. http://www.imageafter.com/ or http://www.mayang.com/textures/. Simply by adding one of those as overlay on a plain colour you get nice results. I use them for my PS models.
Here I did an example:

1. Low saturation red background color.
2. Added cloth texture as overlay.
3. Added another overlay layer, in which pinned up the texture edge with parallel back&white lines.
