Title: The Birth of Keldjan kol Granbanast
Post by: provisionist1 on May 02, 2005, 05:39:41 pm
(http://img12.echo.cx/img12/1310/keldjan3qm.jpg)

Greetings, I am Xirius Dolaktisht. I have searched many levels and many cities in Yliakum after leaving my village, and decided Hydlaa and it?s vicinities are the perfect place to begin my mission. Let me first tell you about Keldjan: It is a philosophy of life, a way of thinking, similar to Esteria and Lah?ar. It is a concept of polar duality and that the whole is greater than the individual. We believe that Fire and Water, Crimson and Cerulean, the Red and Blue Ways represent this well. Of course, these ways are by no means a limit, all magical ways are welcome, as well as any other profession.

Now, if you would care to read the story of how I first encountered Keldjan, please do so: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=16321&boardid=15&styleid=3&sid=00eec9c3a24ca7fec7dabbc966752674 Otherwise, below is the structure of the guild:

These are our core beliefs, this is Keldjan:

Everyone is born without knowledge, it is our responsibility to teach them
Nobody is innocent
The end always justifies the means.
There is no good or evil. There is only desire and will.
Apart, we are nothing but droplets. Together we are the flood.

Alignment:

Evil in a good way, chaotic to others and lawful to ourselves, but never neutral. In essence, we are deeply passionate but unaligned.

These are our goals:

To spread the word of Keldjan throughout the land.
To serve Keldjan, the apotheosis of our dreams
To recruit worthy members who represent a variety of skills and races in Yliakum.
To participate in roleplaying to the highest degree while also becoming great leaders in the community.
To create our own community which will have earned the respect of even those who do not follow Keldjan.

These are our rules:

No challenging people without proper introduction
Show respect to all, even enemies (before you slaughter them). An enemy is a potential recruit.
Be as active as possible, in game and in the guild
No armed weapons or fighting when inside any character-run building, i.e. Kada\'s, The Broken Door, The Temple, The Library etc.
When speaking about real life, the player must type ?ooc? in some form.
Follow all rules laid down by the devs, mods and gms
No acting like a n00b... If everything goes well, there won\'t be any n00bs recruited in the first place, but mistakes are always made...

Hierarchy: (tentative, it is likely to change slightly as the guild grows)

New Initiate: You have just been invited to the guild. You will be at this level until you have participated in a secret initiation ritual.
Brother / Sister: The lowest full member, to be promoted you must complete one of the guild?s quests and roleplayed at least once with a newbie not in the guild.
Apprentice: At this level, you will be able to invite new members to the guild. To be promoted, you must complete another two quests as layed down by the guild council and attended at least one initiation ceremony as well as doing a lot of roleplaying in general.
Knight/Mage/Wright: Same abilities as the Apprentice, you are simply a more respected member. As a Knight, you must be an adept fighter, as a Mage, you must be able to use magic and a Wright is a craftsperson, which will be producing for the guild (when it is implemented). Further promotion is based on contributions to the guild decided on by an Adept, Paladin, Sorcerer, Artisan or a member of the council.
Adept: A skilled member in the arts, you are able to promote and remove others from the guild and are thus a highly trusted member. Promotion is based on serving the guild well, roleplaying often, attending rituals and completing quests. You must also lead some initiation ceremonies.
Paladin/Sorcerer/Artisan: Similar to a Knight, Mage or Wright in title, you are now leaders in the respective catagories. You are also able to reward points for the completion of quests and activities the guild and thus are able to issue them as well. Again, you must oversee some initiation ceremonies as well. This is the highest level until the High Council of Keldjan.

The Council: The high council will decide on matters such as alliances, the creation of quests within the guild, organising the website etc.

Harbinger of Keldjan There are twelve positions here, one for each race. You are responsible for the running of the guild and managing of most matters.
Sentinel of Keldjan Highest guardian and rank, this position is for the most devoted of followers.
Master of Keldjan The leader of the guild, but of course still subject to all the rules

There will soon be a website up, for now, if you are interested in joining, please send me a private message on these forums, or find me when I frequent the game: I am usually online between 3:00 and 6:00 GMT.

Xirius

Finally you got Lynx to say something nice...

But what you have put together is very good indeed.  Obviusly you possess the ability to write and rp.  You have done well for yourself however I dont know if I like the rules and goals so much but that is just preference.

PS:  Does saying \"Chaotic to Others\" make since when you seem to be a guild that has some degree of order.  Because of course the word is derived from Choas.  And everything else you include is about how you are one.  Do you know what I mean?

*stands up applauding*

Nicely done, if only more of the new guilds/organizations would be of that caliber, I would be a whole lot happier.

By the way, is it actually a guild, or a \'religous\' organization?

*grumbles about the new idiotic guilds that seems to spring up everywhere, and then comes to this thread, being happily suprised*

Wohooooo! your guild makes sense! it has proper rules, beliefs and goals! it has been ages since a guild that made sense last came along! well, great job is all I have to say... and good luck with your guild!

I have just noticed your symbol, it fits well for your guild (somehow reminds me of the old Yin and Yang)

Nobody is innocent [Something that a n00bish chaotic good guild would say.]
The end always justifies the means. [All n00bish chaotic guilds (and true neutral), likely some n00bish neutral (as in chaotic\\neutral\\lawful) ones too]
There is no good or evil. There is only desire and will. [N00bish self-hating chaotic evil guild.]

Evil in a good way, chaotic to others and lawful to ourselves, but never neutral. In essence, we are deeply passionate but unaligned. [Basically, they don\'t know what they are, they haven\'t thought about it enough, and once they will they\'ll post 5 threads about it.]

These are our goals:

To spread the word of Keldjan throughout the land. [Any other n00bish chaotic guild, very likely all n00bish evil guilds too]

To recruit worthy members who represent a variety of skills and races in Yliakum. [Right...]
To participate in roleplaying to the highest degree while also becoming great leaders in the community. [Most likely \'roleplay\' just like Diablo is a roleplaying game.]
To create our own community which will have earned the respect of even those who do not follow Keldjan. [I.e. they want to become the biggest and baddest guild. Show me one who doesn\'t.]

So Niavard, it looks to me more like a n00b guild that tries to disguise itself by shouting \"r0l3pl4yz0r!!!!11111111111 w3h t4h r0l3pl4yz0r!!!!!11111one! w3h 1337!1111111two\". Don\'t get too excited.

Well, this will be interesting... Enjoy your petty beliefs. Personally, I believe that these strange philosophies stem from a weak man\'s need to believe in something bigger than himself. We will see.

OOC: Good job in your preparation. We\'ll have to see what happens. Oh, and Saint, that opinion of yours wasn\'t exactly objective. Give credit where it\'s due. Even I do that.

I think most humans in real life are weak by nature period. Some people go insane from it even. (Muahahahaha) ;)

Anyway, I like the ideology of this guild actually. You\'ve obviously put a lot of thought into it, and it is very open and very adaptable to roleplaying. I honestly hope this guild stays. :)

PS: You core beliefs kind of freaked me out. They\'re almost like mine in real life. o.O

Alright, and why would I be in dire straits? I\'m Athiest anyway. I\'m not affecting any religion (cept for maybe the solicitors that knock on my door) :P

PS: I\'ll have to analyze your real character, there could be something hidden inside of him. ;)

\'Real\' character in the game. There\'s always an inside and an outside to a person, so I guess I mean trying to analyze the \'outside\' to see any patterns to indicate the \'inside\'. (God I\'m weird today)

What I mean is that to people outside of the guild we may seem to not take a stand for either evil or good, and we will also seem unstructured. i.e. everyone is addressed as brother or sister no matter what their rank. However, internally, it will be very organised, especially the upper eschelons...For example, I have many ideas for activities to give to recently arrived members so they are attracted even more to Hydlaa and decide to stay rather than passing through to the next town. Thanks, I think I was being a little unclear there.

Well, everyone is entitled to believe what they want I suppose, but frankly, I don\'t even know how to speak, what is it? Leet (1337)? o.o.c. I even type grammatically on all mobile phone texts... We\'ll see I suppose, but I have added to the rules no n00b-like stuff, I thought that was part of the devs rules anyway, but I\'ll emphasize it.

Thanks Phinehas for beginning a philosophical arguement. Exactly what I needed. o.o.c. Though I am only a deist, it is remarkable that your \"strange philosophies\" are believed in in one form or another by 95 percent of what...6.5 billion people?
Hmm... Xirius chuckles

This guild looks very interesting.  If I\'m correct, it seems to be the first cult.  If you guys are planning on going Reverend Sun Yung Moon, I am so in favour of this guild I will recruit for you.  That is, those who don\'t meet my stringent requirements...

At a certain point, it would be great if you guys had uniforms, like robes.  Further, if you are going Moonie, you could develop some speech affectation, you know, like \"praise be\" in every other sentence.  Further still, I would be delighted to see you guys ritually dancing near the temple. Noone has had any public \"ceremony\" that I\'m aware of.  Even six people moving in a slow circle would give the whole thing a really creepy vibe.

Wow, there does seem to be a culture developing around here...
Title: Wow...
Post by: provisionist1 on May 03, 2005, 08:21:24 pm
Yeah, I think we are on the same wavelength buddha. There will be ceremonies, mostly secret, but some public. Robes would be awesome, but the devs have much more important matters than designing robes for sale I think, but eventually, yeah, sweet. I already have a few in-guild quests as well as a few ceremonies worked out too (none near the temple though, sorry. Laanx to the best of my knowledge is not entirely compatible with Keldjan, and part of our rules are respect, in this case no defiling other religious institutions). Speech affectations, definitely when in ceremonial context, other times, I\'m not sure, but it\'s a possibility.

Creepy, hehehe, exactly...

Xirius returns to his village to pick up and study over some ancient tomes

o.o.c. I have a few essays to work on so I might not be on for a little while.

Cool,

Xirius

Don\'t worry about Saintnuclear, he\'s just jealous that I\'m master Malentor\'s evil sidekick :P

and I\'d consider joining if i wasn\'t already in the greatest guild in the community, and if i wasn\'t roleplaying a mean, selfish person who only lives for his own gain and feeding his addiction of the blue way, he\'d never believe that \"the whole is greater than the individual\", so I\'m already in an even better guild, and Niavard is a man without any principles, but otherwise, I\'d consider joining.

Your ranks seems quite cliche now that I think about it, well everything else seems good and rp oriented, so, again, good work!

Yeah, I\'m on Judgement Knights. :P Thanks for the thought anyway.

As for the notion of a cult, I definately agree that it is, and I would say it\'s a very good concept for RP. I\'m glad to see at least a couple new guilds attempting something with a little more meat to it (so many vegetarians in this game in my opinion :P).

Never really took me the time to read it all through, but it is actually a pretty well thought guild, and I can tell you if it wasn\'t because I had my own guild - I would seriously have joined this :D

Also pretty nice website, I like the coming soon on the hyperlink buttons, instead of one clicking into an empty page - so all in all good luck with the guild, you deserve it!

I couldn\'t agree more with most people here.  Its refreshing to have new creative idea come along, its something that was lacking in PS, so congrats on that.  Most people seem quite in favor of you, the opposite of when Val and I started our guild as newbs (critism was well founded).   You seem to have put alot of forethought and work into this.  Good luck with everything.

Llyando Autora was initiated in the first ever initiation ceremony of Keldjan kol Granbanast to the rank of Sentinel of Keldjan, a position on the High Council.

This is a good first step towards the growth of Keldjan in Yliakum, but we need more members...

Sitting down to a simple meal of grilled carp and diaboli wine, Xirius notices a stranger running quickly towards him on the rocky road from Solkhakhum to Hydlaa.

\"Hail good stranger!!!\" Xirius shouted.

The dwarf, as Xirius could now plainly see, slowed down with his call. Breathing deeply after stopping at Xirius\' camp, he lay his scruffy mining-worked hands on his knees, bending over for air.

Come sir, have a drink, you look tired, Xirius remarked.

\"No, thanks though\" the dwarf breathed out with more air than words. \"We dwarves are not meant for long distance running...sprinting, but not running.\"

\"Ah, well than may I ask where you are running in such a hurry?\"

\"Aye. I am going to Hydlaa, I was called upon by the town guard to help with security in case the Octarch election goes awry.\"

\"Ah, well good luck to you then. I myself am curious with the result, but have little interest in democracy.\" Xirius says smuggly offering a glass of water to the dwarf.

\"Thank you\" the dwarf said finally having fully caught his breath.

\"Well, could you please take a message for me? I\'ll pay you well, seeing as you are headed that way anyways.\"

\"I suppose that would be acceptable, except, how am I to find the deliverant?\"

\"He will find you\" Xirius said with a slight smile across his lizard-like lips. \"His name is Llyando, a Dermorian fire-mage, living in Hydlaa, managing our...ahem...organisation until I return.\"

\"Sure, it shouldn\'t be a problem then.\"

\"Good.\"

Xirius pulled out a scroll of tefusang hide, wrote down a message and gave it to the dwarf, along with two golden circles.

\"Ah, sir this is more than generous...\" The dwarf said surprised at the large sum of payment.

\"Please, I insist, the message is quite important. I have unfortunately been delayed in Solkhakhum with work, and this contains some important instructions for my Sentinel. Here is some water for the road as well,\" Xirius replied as he filled the dwarf\'s canteen.

The dwarf took one more sip and bid Xirius a good evening before returning to the road.

\"Excellent\" Xirius said to himself. \"I should be back in a couple days and all will be prepared.\"

A cold wind blowing and rain pouring down, Xirius sheathes his falchions and enters the warm Tavern. He hopes to see a busy lively crowd, but unfortunately there is only the barkeep and a sleeping female Enki.

\"Greetings, may I have a Dwarven ale please?\" Xirius asks coolly, wishing there were more people around.

\"Aye sir...\"

The barkeeper hands him a frosty mug, and Xirius walks over to the fireplace, and sits, contemplating his next move.

\"Well, at least I am back in Hydlaa...\" he says, sipping his ale and munching on some carpcakes leftover from his journey.

Xirius reports the latest news of Keldjan kol Granbanast in the crowds of Hydlaa Plaza

My friends, after a long and tiresome sabatical in my village outside of Solkhakhum (the mac client was down and I had exams), I have come back to Hydlaa to increase membership in the guild and work on other matters.

We now have three new members: Hartaro who was appointed to apprentice yesterday, Waurelie who was also appointed to apprentice a couple days ago and Travus who has yet to undergo the initiation ceremony.

Keldjan can and will be a ruling force, but we need more members, please visit the website (of which the server will hopefully be again up soon) at http://www.keldjan.garlando.org and look at our philosophies.

Thank you, May Keldjan light the darkness...

Xirius Dolaktisht, Master of Keldjan

The website is a little basic, but it is clean.  I see you still have a little work to do on it.  Do you have forums?  When I click on  the forums button it takes me to the Hierarchy page.  Also, the only real mistake I saw on your site is when you mention using the Red and Blue Ways because of the polar opposites you believe in... then you say Fire and Water O_o.
Title:
Post by: provisionist1 on July 11, 2005, 12:40:18 am
Hierarchy page? Huh, very odd, works for me and my guild members. What browser are you using? We know it works on Mozilla, Netscape, and Safari, of course I never know about Windoze Exploder (hehehe, little mac joke there). I\'ll check it out, I think I still have that particular piece of software on my computer, buried deep in the shadows.

To get to the forums go to: http://www.keldjan.garlando.org/phpBB2/index.php

Yeah, the website still needs some work, there will eventually be a news box that adds from postings in the news section fo the forums, and a member logon that allows access to the ceremonies page and guild quests page. Hierarchy needs updating, as does the What is Keldjan page.

Yes, red and blue to us are opposites but work together to be very powerful (as are crystal and dark, and azure/brown). Somewhere I remember reading about realm ten spells that will combine opposing glyphs for uber-power. Hehehe, and even though it might be years before this happens, we still roleplay it. Also, in the descriptions of the ways, red is derived from the fire element and blue from the water, just as brown is from earth and azure from air. More polar opposites might seem to be crystal and dark, but we prefer red and blue as they are not \"good and evil,\" just powerful in two opposing ways.

Hope this answers some of your questions, thanks for the constructive critisism, it\'s really helpful, I want this guild to be the best it can be and last a long time.

Cheers,

Xirius

Im using firefox.  I checked it again and it still does it hmmm....

But really, keep up the good work.  I do like what you have done so far.  Your guild seems to be one of the most promising new guilds out there.  Not that you are brand new.  How long have you been around now?

Hehehehe, yeah, we need cloaks in game.

Also, to everyone; do not think this wipe will wipe Keldjan as well, it will come back, stronger than ever.

Title: The Apocalypse!
Post by: provisionist1 on August 04, 2005, 07:00:37 pm
It would seem the apocalypse has finished millions of souls having been devoured by The Carcarass, and Yliakum itself still appears to be suffering environmentally from the sudden disappearance of millions of tons of weight on the inside of the stalactite as everyone disappeared from the rapture. Apparently top mages are hard at work resurrecting souls, many of them coming back in different forms than before, with different names and species.

I for the moment am back in my village outside of Solkhakhum, helping some healers resurrect the dead. I know only that I will be back when the great and loved-by-all archangel Daniel Fryer finishes his magical repairs to the Azure Sun.

[for those of you who are confused, I am offline until the mac client is rebuilt, should be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.]

As the rapture apparently destroyed all guildhalls as well, the Temple of Keldjan kol Granbanast will be re-built when I return.

I, Llyando Autora, Sentinal of Keldjan, have returned once again to Hydlaa.
If you are interested in the nature of Keldjan, or indeed wish to join our quest for balance. Please feel free to speak to me during my frequent trips to Hydlaa.

[ooc] whilst our esteemed guild leader is unable to connect due to the nature of his computer *cough*mac*cough* please feel free to speak to me in game about our guild or if you wish to join.
I will try to be online each night between about 8pm and 10pm BST (English time) but on this I make no guarantees.
