*Arnigus Faymore steps up onto the fountain with the help of a few of his loyal Sheeples*
Hear ye, hear ye! I bid you all to attend to my words and the words of those who will follow.
As you all may know, the sudden death of our beloved Octarch came as quite a shock to us all, leaving an empty hollow in our leadership. Though we my weep at the loss, as with all things, we most move on, creating a new future out of the ashes of the old. We must forge on, put aside the rumors of a coming doom, and come together in this time of dark thoughts. I implore you all, do not succumb to the doubts and fears that I know resides in all our hearts. Joy will return as we cast off the shadows of our troubled times. The peace shall be reforged in the heat of our conviction. As one amalgamated people, we will persevere!
With that small speech of encouragement, I am pleased to announce that the running for Hydlaa Octarch is now open. Please, Hopefuls, step to the fountain and make yourselves known. Let us bathe in the light of your coming greatness.
*Arngus steps down, leaving the fountain empty, wondering who has the courage to be the first to come forth?if any. And if they will repeal the ban on sitting.*
This is the first and second cycle of the election (I combined them to make things easier)
Requirements for becoming a Hopeful:
1. Be able to go in-game with an established character (please, only one char per person).
2. Be a respected RPer (not respectable, as I don?t wish to put off evil characters)
3. Be serious about this. I will ask that any lamers be deleted.
4. Must put their name and basic character information in this thread in this setup:
Name:
Race M/F: (this is to avoid RP mistakes)
Age:
Following:
Ways:
5. Must give a short (or long, if you like) IC speech. Your speech must give an indication of your character?s alignment, personality, and views. You may also mention your guild, if you wish.
6. After your speech is made, you will have to quote at least three, short, in-game log excerpts where you have had a conversation about running for Octarch. This is to ensure that at least some of the election goes on in-game. Please, no fake logs. Do not worry if you have no logs yet, sign up now and edit them in later.
*apended*Logs are no longer required, but strongly encouraged, as many people have indicated that they cannot go in-game as much as they would like, myself included. So I cannot see my way to enforce something I cannot do myself.
Not required, but encouraged.
Nominees will also be encouraged to go in-game to RP as they see fit. But remember, to be seen it to be heard. Players will also be encouraged to go in-game to support their favorite nominee(s) or nicely undercut the ones they don?t. RP is highly encouraged here. I expect to hear of a few friendly bar fights over political views. However, killing is off limits. Try to use the ?yield? button before anybody gets hurt too bad. This is a civilized election.
Please keep your logs, as we may wish to put excerpts in the PS Times. Send me any interesting ones you have.
Notice! This thread will stay open until the 14th of next weekend (unless the plan needs to be changed). Then I will ask that it be locked. Do NOT start your own campaign thread. Any campaigning that you do other than your speech MUST BE DONE IN-GAME. I will ask that violations be deleted.
Good luck to you all, and have fun!

Hello Hydlaa, I am Druke, primary founder of the Arcane-Order. It has come o my attention that a new leader is in need, this is where I step up! You have seen my success as a leader in Arcane-Order, now allow me to use my abilites to further aid ALL of Hydlaa, rather then the few wizards. I shall widen the public mental aptitude , allowing even the most shallow Kran to be on a sort of equal intellectual ground as the wisest Xacha, public education is needed, for the furtherment of our own society. Aditionally, the dead are begining to stack up in the great well upon which our dead are cast, it is time to find an alternate solution to dealing with the dead. All these problems and more are more than a trifel task to myself and the subordinates i already have working for me.
Elect me and Further Hydlaa!

Requirement for logs has been removed. But they are still very strongly encouraged.

Greetings, citizens of Hydlaa, I am John Thazer leader of the movement known as Chaotic Warriors. I have been honored to be invited to this election and would gladly take on the position of Octarch. Why choose me? My views of the world are simple, there is no place for the Evil in this world, I must protect the it by any means necessary. How best to do this if not by having direct control of Hydlaa? No, don\'t take me wrong, I do not believe in \"end justifies the means\", so you can be asured that I will not make rash decisions.
I shall ensure that the defense of Hydlaa will be strengthed. There shall be more guards on the streets, mainly consisting of members of Chaotic Warriors. The current guards will be trained to the higher standards. Also I shall introduce a governing body to control the macious use of magic in the streets of Hydlaa, called Arcane Watch. These will consist of highly trained wizards of all ways. Arcane Watch will also act as an educational body and will instruct and teach all who have a will to walk the ways of magic.
I can also will turn my attention to Rogue problem on the main road to Ojaveda. On countless occasions I heard of people being waylaid and attacked by Rogues. That has to be stopped! I will send agents to scout the area and find the Rogues\' hideout and then send an emissary to talk to them and try to put a stop to their unlawful activities. If emissary fails, or even be attacked, (although do not worry citizens he or she will be teleported away before any harm could be done to him or her) a military action will be taken and warriors sent out to guard the road from rogues as well as from other monsters that abide in the area.
I have many more issues to address when I become an Octarch. Vote for me and you will have a well protected and educated city!

*stands up with a smile and starts clapping his hands
Great speech! Both of you!
*steps forward and turns around to face the audience
My friends! My brothers! My sisters!
If what you seek is an Octarch to move the pile of bodies polluting the well, then you should definetely vote for Druke. He is a wise man, and can surely find another place to throw the bodies of our beloved friends. But remember that, even if relocated, the pile will not cease to grow and our dearest will not cease to be taken away from us.
If what you seek is an Octarch who, with his private army, is to protect you from the rogues, then I guess you should vote for John Thazer. But where is this army he is talking about, and how can we now that they are apt to protect us?
No, people! We cannot expect others to do our dirty job for us. If there is something I have learned from all the years I have spent struggling with my blindness, it is that you should not fully rely on others to guide you in the darkness but should also learn to take care of yourself.
If I become the new Octarch, I will gather the talented fighters roaming our Plaza and make use of their skills in the battle against our enemies. Hopefully, this will make the plazaa a more peaceful place as well.
*points at the fountain behind him
Today, I was given the possiblity to talk to all of you from up on that fountain but chose to stand here, among you, as the common man I have always been.
-
Robinmagus loudly claps. Bravo! Bravo! But, Is there noone else who will step forth?
(btw common ppl rule! :P)
-
*Arnigus wipes a tear from his eye, hope filling him at the words of those willing to speak for themselves...no, for the people!*
Thank you, thank you. Your words give me hope of a new day without shadow and fear.

\"Pushing his way through the muddled mass, an emotionless expression on his face.
Amheh arrives closer to the frount, and \"accidently\" knocks over, an over excited, and very quickly recognised windbag called robinmagus, straight into a pile of filth, consisting of trodded up mud, livestock urine and spoiled produce, which now cakes the busy squares, rough coble stones.
Paying no further attention to the little grub. He passes his shield to one of the\"trolls\" closly following him, making a swift motion the shield is held flat and Amheh standing firm, is then lifted above the crowd\".
Silence! the crowds goes quite even if it was only for a few brief seconds
I had not decide to run for this position for i thought there might have been a more dedicated and willing contender to hold the unfortunatlly now vacant position of Octarch. But this is obviously not the case.
\"glances over at the last few hopefulls and bears his teeth\"
I will not make empty promises before all of thee about making the city a safer place, nor remove any of the dead or fallen that now mix with the towns water supply.
They create a superb fertalizer for our drones crops and fields. The sick and elderly will be dealt with kindly and help our brothers in the well with the crops.
Councils may be formed to collect heavy taxs, that may need to be inforced, to lavash upon the newly elected Octarch.
The beautifull women and men of the realm that have no prior engagments, will be hired to provide constant all year round amusements in the main square of the city to boost commerce and maybe the population.
\"feeling the shield starting to tremble beneath him quickly looks around at the daft vacant stares\"
Not that a population of this sort should be encourage to grow but the fields do need fertalizer.
I will be roaming the plaza for the following weeks making my self accesable to anyone wishing to question me on any of my polocies stated today or that i have chosen to ignore at this present time.
\"Jumping down from his shield. To the relieved expression of his trolls, he lands \"accidently\" on the unfortunate Robinmagus, who is this time pushed face down into the muck from which he just pulled himself...again not noticing. Amheh strolls off to take a seat near the makeshift bar that has be set up by one of the merchant from his guild exploiting the non regulator alcohol industry in the realm.
*edited some typos missed plenty
-
*walks over to the plaza drawn by the noise of a large crowd, passing by an overconfident looking Amheh, and asks some people what \'s been going on*
Hmm so we have promises of better education and improved processing of the dead, the latter seems more like a hollow promise though I am curious how he would accomplish an improved education.
*some bystanders mumble in agreement*
Then another candidate who wants to increase military activity in and around Hydlaa ... sounds like it could be a trick to make this level into a military state. He promises more troops to protect the people but before you know it we are oppressed by this army.
*John Thazer recieves a few suspicious glances from the people around Zan*
And then one who actually promisses nothing much .. but hopes on the sympathy of the voters and attempts to walk among us. Now his intentions may be coming from his heart but a true leader needs to lift him/herself up from the crowds to watch over them. Maybe a bit na?ve ... don\'tcha think.
*one older man nods at Zan*
And lastly .. well Amheh here might not be the smartest manipulator but he is probably the most honest candidate. All he promises us is decay and poverty through games and probably a substantial deal of illegal activities.

Name: Netrhys Tanhren
Race M/F: Klyros, female
Age: her actual age is 16, but she doesn\'t know exactly and pretends to be 20
Following: none
Ways: azure and blue
Edit: visual char description found here (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=10591&boardid=22&page=31#602).
*Leaning against a wall near the plaza, she hears the commotion*
{Yeah, the Octarch guy... he died, who cares? There\'ll be a new one in no time, anyway.} *sighs* {Some people are just lucky.} *closes her eyes to continue to daydream, when the announcement of an actual election finally penetrates her mind.* {They are elected? Funny, who\'d have thought...?} *remembers a snippet of a conversation she once had* {\"And if I ever become Octarch, I\'ll be sure you wouldn\'t tell, would you?\"}, *she had said, grinning. It had mostly been a joke by then.* {Should I..? This might be the chance!} *stands up and walks towards the fountain, arriving just in time to see Arnigus step down. She had seen him before and grins.* {How come this guy announces an official election?} *Curiously walking closer, she listens to the speeches, with mixed, but mostly indifferent feelings.
Amheh\'s speech changed that, at first puzzling her, then disgusting and finally infuriating her. Before she is aware of what she\'s doing, she has climbed the fountain and taken the empty spot, arriving there in time to witness Amheh\'s jump off the shield onto the guy on the floor whom she doesn\'t recognise*
HEY! YES, you there, with the shield! How dare you advocate this, this... *trembles from anger* disgusting slavery? How dare you force anyone to, to prostitute themselves for your and other\'s \"amusement\", and ruthlessly murder others?
*looks over the crowd, wings spread to almost full size and crest standing on end in fury*
You cannot even consider electing someone like that, someone who needlessly steps on someone else! *points at robinmagus* He\'ll just as ruthlessly step on everyone! *curses* He even admitted it himself!
Elect anyone but his likes! Heck, you should elect someone who will make sure that this guy\'s *points at Amheh* vision does not come true!
Don\'t let this level fall prey to HIS FOUL AND DISGUSTING plans! Heck, before you elect him, elect ME! *has been screaming the last sentences after Amheh, now staring at him, panting, slowly becoming aware of what she just has said*
{Oh, crap! What have I gotten myself into?} *looks around, cursing herself at the sight of several faces looking up at her* {Not only that I won\'t stand even the slightest chance, this outbreak was outright stupid!}*finally sighs and climbs off the fountain, shivering slightly* {I really should know better than that, but that fool...} *becomes angry again, but forces herself to turn away and instead splash cool water from the fountain into her face*
-
*Arnigus, shaking in fear at Am-Heh\'s words, nearly wetting himself, in fact, breaths a sigh of relief at the young woman\'s words. Even though he can tell by the look on her face that they were spoken out of anger, he senses that there may be a strength to her. May more than even she realizes. He waddles over an speaks low enough that only she can hear.*
Do not fear the words that you have spoken in passion. That is were your true feelings come forth. You can do well, though I can see in your face that you already doubt your words and yourself.
I only wish I had your passion and heart. I would run myself, instead of merely holding the election. In fact, the only reason I do this now, is that the old Octarch...was my father. I have not spoken to him in twenty years, and do this to try to make up for that in some small way. It heartens me to see that others care for this world the way he did...before the madness took him.
You would do well. Just believe in yourself.
*he walks back into the crowd, hoping that his words are true. Wondering if this election would even his debt to his father*
-
*Now an amused and slightly intrigued look spreading its way across his face, he then starts roaring with laughter. Many in the crowd follow suit but are cut short and fall silent after Amheh casts a a stare in their direction.
Seytra, my dear little Klyros. You have proven your lack of suitabilty to lead our many misdirected citazins.
As Octarch you cannot afford to indulge in unfounded and misconcepted outbreaks ,running your mouth without taking into account anothers, as you put it \"visions\" for our humble community. This will surly lead to foolish decision making and a poorly structured society.
I wish to lay your mind at rest, if you had lisened a little closer without being clouded by unfounded rage you would have heard that i said.
The beautifull women and men of the realm that have no prior engagments, will be hired to provide constant all year round amusements in the main square of the city to boost commerce and maybe the population.
They idol citizens will be given the opportunity to be\"hired\" or \"enlisted\" to boost our economy, if they wish to partake in any population boosting that would be of their own accord.. But if citazins do wish to exercise their right to prostition, it will be entirly up to them.knowing that any money made by such transactions would \"maybe\" be subject to tax, and as the new Octarch i would expect to be given a substantial. disscount at any such establishment.
Now hear this ,\" looking in Zans direction\" Those of you that fear Decay and Poverty i can promise to you that who ever you elect will never be able to banish these to Needed facts of life within our realm. Without decay the bodys bloated by the sun, blooded and stenching would forever lay to rest in our streets and wells. Instead of giving much needed vitailty to our baren soil.
Without poverty what incentive would their be to become rich and to build an strong economy, who would work for the low sums of money that we pay our drones and workers.
Raising his voice above the increasing volume of banter amonst the rable..Again Here this all of you!
The oratch is a position for a leader that will not lose their ambition for his/her people, and that will not make irrational promises or accusations, that will be detrimentle to our realm i will expect you all to see reason and mark my name on the ballot papers next week....\"letting slip an evil grin\".. wont you!!
-
*watches the incident between Amheh and Nethrys with interest and waits for both of them to finish their speeches*
Well whaddaya know the Diaboli isn\'t just brutally honest .. he even shows signs of intelligence. Not that much if he still thinks he can pursuade people into a society where \"decay and poverty\" reign but at least he realizes they will always be there.
*walks over to Nethrys and Arnigus while smiling at a glaring Amheh. Zan waits until Arnigus is done and then addresses Nehtrys himself*
Now that was a refreshing display of emotional outbursts. I think you, my lady, have just promised to be more common than Tybalt and more driven than any other man who rose to the occasion today. On top of that you seem to be the only female candidate which could give you a large sympathy vote from the female half of our population.
I agree with what my aristocratic friend, Arnigus said. However Amheh also has a point, though you have the spirit to fight you still seem to lack the self discipline and I don\'t think you quite realize what you are getting yourself into here. However what many fail to realize is that while an octarch might be the leader of these people, he doesn\'t have to lead them all by him/herself. Now if you could only find yourself some loyal, levelheaded advisors to aid you in the political and technical aspects I believe you could get far with your passion.
*smiles and bows humbly*
-
*smiles in amusement after hearing Am-Heh\'s speech but quickly becomes quiet as he hears what seems to be a young Klyros step up on the fountain. Her words seem to be filled with anger, and while they shown signs of inexperience, they also speak of bravery. As the Klyros steps down from the fountain, Tybalt walks up to her with a smile on his face and pats her on the back.
Good job...
*listens to Zan\'s speech and gets shocked as he hears how he manages to turn this in the favor of the young Klyros. Tybalt feels he has to interfere, but still remains calm.
Zan, this girl was very brave, let nobody take that away from her, but surely you cannot see her as the new Octarch. I am sure that a lot of people have been angered my Am-Heh\'s speech, but that does mean that any of them would fit to become an Octarch.
You seem to be a wise man, and I would have believed you to know better than to elect somebody simply by sympathy...
*points at Am-Heh
And there is really no reason to be mad at Am-Heh, for if his will ever comes true...
*drags his hand over the crows
...it is you who elected him, who are the ones to blame
-
*turns to Tybalt*
Thank you for thinking of me as wise, I still have much to learn though. However I do listen to my instincts and I feel confident about this young Klyros here. She has something unique, something I haven\'t seen with many politicians at all .. her innocence is actually a good point as she isn\'t influenced as much as older, more experienced candidates.
You are right though, I don\'t see an Octarch in her .. yet. But with some proper guidance that could change soon. I can only dream of the day when a passionate young Octarch arises instead of the calmer, almost burned out politicians one usually sees. True, it can be a gamble but then again it always is.
-
Lordbug suddently appears in the middle of the crowd and puts his magic mugs in the bag and walks in the direction of Zan\'s voice and waits till he finishes. He looks to Zan and Tybalt and says: I agree with Zan. I can\'t see an Octarch in this young Klyros, but leadership comes with time too. Things like her passion, care for the others aren\'t earned with time, people simply \"are\" like that.
Asks the rest of the people arround him about what happened before he arrived and looks at Am-Heh and feels like taking his magic mugs out of his bag but controls himself {or I would end up presenting myself for Octarch!}
Am-Heh, your attitude will cost you the place for Octarch, in my opinion. Like Miss Tanhren said most people in Yliakum don\'t want some like \"you\" for Octarch. *remembers that Octarch is a job for life and if Am-Heh reaches Octarch (probably cheating) there\'ll be new elections in the same week.*
Walks towards Netrhys to congratulate her for the speech but he thinks it\'s better not aproach her or she might punch him with all the fury she might still have and turns to Tybalt after hearing one of the villagers repeating his speech
Good speech! Although I wouldn\'t like to see lots of fighters in the plaza.
-
*Looking at all that is going on John thinks, \"Do those truly hope to become an Octarch? All those children do is fght between themselves.\" Looks at Druke, the Mage, like John, is waiting silently for the screams and shouts to end. Moves closer to him.*
\"So what do yer think of the \"hopefuls\"? The only thought that any of those will become an Octarch makes me shiver. What folly will they commit once they are an Octarch? So few here have a will and a mind to be chosen for such an important role. Children...\"
*Now John turns to Tybalt*
\"Hear, hear!\" *The arguments continue* \"HEAR, HEAR!\" *Few have silenced but not all* \"HEAR, HEAR!\" *Booms John\'s voice. All are silent now* \"Now, it came to my attention that I have been misunderstood here and branded as some kind of a warlord, trying to take control of Hydlaa. Nay, nay! A warlord I am not! Tybalt here talks of a \"private army\". An army?\" *laughs* \"Nay, nay! Even I cannot over strech my resources to gather an army. The days of Xperto are gone, no longer I posses the sheer numbers of Rebirth or The Holy Searing! Our numbers are small, many of us are in distant lands, trying to protect the land from all kinds of Evil. When I say Chaotic Warriors will strengthen the City Watch and found an Arcane Watch, I only mean five or six people shall come. Is that an army? I think not. We can\'t do it all by ourselves! We shall need volunteers from the all people of Hydlaa. All I want is to make life in Hydlaa safe. How can two guards hold the invasion of monsters? But the problem is not only outside but it\'s inside too! Nowadays no citizen can walk through Hydlaa Plaza and not being challenged by some ruffian! This has to be put to an end! Let people duel if they don\'t value their lives but let them not create mass murders on our streets! There is a dedicated place for that - Arena.\"
*Turns to Am-Heh*
\"And what is this? How can yer even hope to come anywhere with those silly promises? I will not allow Hydlaa become a whore city! Mark my words!\"
*To Zan*
\"Yet again I am misunderstood. Always I am seen as some kind of militant fanatic! Ever since the days of Xperto! Speak not of thing you know nothing of. Let me tell yer this, I do not want any power, I want no armies and no wars, all I want is to make the world a safer place. Was is my will, I would settle somewhere quiet and go back to my blacksmith days! I have only came here only because Arnigus Faymore pursaved me to. And if I came I will not leave now!\"
*To Seytra*
\"Good attempt! If only a bit silly one. A great potential I see in you young one! Keep on going! Was I not on this election I would vote for yer!\"
*Now to all*
\"People! It\'s up to yer to decide which one of us shall be honored to become the new Octarch. Many more will come, many more will shout their promises and many more shall cuss each other! Choose wisely! That is all I ask of yer!\"
-
*applauds*
Excellent speech and I must say it has eased my worries a bit. However you sound like you are only here on request, I \'m not sure I want a man who is only here because he was asked to be, become Octarch. Then again your speeches sound convincing so I think one of the two isn\'t entirely true.
*steps back and smiles with the satisfaction that brings playing devil\'s advocate forth*
-
*Looks at Zan and smiles*
\"I did not feel that I could become an Octarch. But when I heard that I was wanted, all my doubts were gone!\"
-
*turns to face Lordbug
It seems that you have misunderstood me, my friend. I do not plan to gather fighters in the Plaza. I wish to take them away from there and use them in the protection of our city.
*listens to John Thazer and smiles
Oh pardon me if I misunderstood your plans for your army. It is just that you said that most of the guards would be members of the Chaotic Warriors, and considering how your numbers are not very large, I did not find the protection you seek to offer to be nearly enough.
Maybe I heard you wrong...
-
*to Tybalt*
\"Our men and women walked through many battles, and even one of those is a formidable warrior. But I said I don\'t want an army here... But what I plan is to tarin more guards from the volunteers that wish to help to defend the city. Same applies to Arcane Watch, I only can spare two or three of our mages, the rest would have to come from outside\" *looks at Druke* \"or train more, but training takes time.\"
-
Sending one of his Trolls to each of the present hopefulls with a message .
\"Dear Hopeful
Backdown from this election for Octarch or your wives will be raped, your children sold into slavery and your pets eaten, you have been warned.\"
After his Trolls returns by his side, Amheh stands. This time swaying a little from all the ale he has consumed while listening to the previous empty promises made by hopeful Thazer.
Throwing a small pebble clipping John in the back of the head ..
\"Thazer, For the sake of talad, would you listen to what is being said and stop making up any old mumbo jumbo, that ties in with your master plan of having 5-6 fighters guard our city\" Smirks at the though of this..5-6 fighters may keep the rat problem down but little else.
I Will not turn our realm into a police state nor will it be turning into a pimped state, rest assured.
So the next person having trouble grasping the concept of how prostitution works go and have a chat with Lordbugs mother or one of the other fine ladies at the tavern and all trade secrets will be revealed, im sure. And realise that at no time have i claimed to incorporate this industry into my polocies.
I do not wish to focus my campaign purly on entertainment for the loins as i have said twice now. These pleasures will be sort after by individuals at their own leisure and accord. By Amusements and entertainment i was refering more to street art, dancing and juggling, street games and festivals.
I want people to know. As Octarch, little will change in or streets to begin with. Meetings will be held on regular dates. The first swiftly following my installement as Octarch. So that guild heads and individuals from the community may come forth and voice their concerns, ideas and goals for the future.
Many in the crowd facing Amheh nod their heads in accordance, and mutter amongst themselves.
\"slouching back down on his stoll, he whispers into one of the barmaids ears, letting out a little giggle the two of them stroll inside the small backroom of the bar...still in earshot but much more comfortable now. Streached out on a ulbernaught rug, which he gave the girl on his last visit..\" At least he knows he\'ll get one vote.
-
*to Am-Heh*
\"I see they don\'t call you Devourer of Millions for nothing. How many poor souls have you twisted already? Yet again, I hear my word twisted and corrupted! No and for the last time, I want no armies or police states as you call it! Be warned, your kind is one I sworn to protect all realms against!\"
*to the crowd*
\"Oh people! Open your eyes and look where one who calls himself Am-Heh leads you to! Corruption and decay is all I see down that path! Vote for anyone but him! For he is even more evil than the Cabal and more treacherous than the Dark Empire!\"
-
Mulla performs several quick calculations, the likes of which no beggar should know how to do...
Friends and fellow citizens. I have to say I am a Thazer man. A good, strong, moral leader could be just what this city needs. With strong moral leadership comes industry and power. That could bring great wealth to our city. I see stability in the face of John Thazer, as he stares at me from that distant wasteland. His eyes are firm and steadfast. Just take a moment to look. He doesn\'t even blink!
Yes, this is the man who will bring this city back to life. Put in with him.
Though I may still be swayed otherwise...
Mulla considers reiterating his speech, as noone seems to have heard but the piss-stained fool standing beside him. Wait, it was his reflection in a pool of sewage...
-
Barely stirring from his comfortable position on the rug Amheh thinks to himself.
\"If these other hopefuls ,have only the likes of this piss-stained fool and robinmagus supporting them, this might be an easier victory than i thought.
-
*moves through the crowd towards buddha, walks past Am-Heh and gives him a glance of disgust, when John reaches buddha he shakes his hand*
\"So many are too eager to criticize me, yet I am pleased that there are some that understand my concerns. Thank you buddha, thank you. Your words are like another candle in the total darkness.\"
*moves back, passes Am-Heh and his group of trolls again, one of the over excited trolls attempts to throw a stone at John, the stone is caught by John moments before it reaches his face. The stone quickly turns into rubble and dust in John\'s hand. As he opens his hand the wind blows vigoriously and every single grain flies off. John glances at Am-Heh once more.*
\"As the dust you fly into inncents\' eyes and ears blinding and deafening them, you come. But the dust can be washed out...and so can you.\" *quietly says John*
-
*Now sitting up from the rug, still located in the back room of the bar. Amheh stretches and proceding to yawn, blinks at the site of Thazer walking around out-side the door.
Shaking his head as he watches the small figure being hasseld by one of his newly hired and at the present time drunk trolls.
Like some sideshow gnome preforming magic tricks better suited for one of the villiages children birthday parties, he continues to watches as john seem to rustle up a wind from no where and blow dust over a couple of the now dirty and annoyed crowd dwellers beside him.
Smirking at the amusing site Amheh smiles to himeself and proping himself up with a pillow watchs to see what happens next or if any others hopefuls are going to make them selves known.
-
steps out of a dark corner.
There are only three people I consider voting for,
Druke, Tybalt and John. All three have what it takes to be a good leader.
The others are either psychopaths,
nods towards Am-heh
and inexperienced one.
goes towards Netrhys and ducks to be at the same height
You may have passion. But this is not all that is needed to be a good leader.
moves towards the corner he had come out, but stops midway
I may be called subjecitve, but I will vote for tybalt, who is a personal friend of mine.
-
*catches Cyl\'s words*
Hmmm .. you know to be honest I don\'t think any single candidate has got what it takes. Of course now I \'ll have to hear how I should run then if I think I can do better.
I won\'t ... but my point remains. All I \'ve seen, no heard is promises. No actions, not even any decent plans to realize those promises. I mean none of these candidates even have as much as a small team to support or back them up. No previous examples or near future plans to show us what they are made of. Only words and in some cases impressive speeches is all we seem to get.
I don\'t know about you all though but I require more than that to be convinced as a voter.
-
Tybalt has me behind him, and phinehas to.
-
So do you two help out with Tybalt\'s campaign besides simply voting for him?
-
I do not intend to help him with his campaign. I rather want to help him after this.
Campaigns are just waste of money for promotional issues.
-
Waits a bit to be less mad and goes in Am-Heh\'s direction and takes out his magic mugs and whispers to Am-Heh
Remember of what I said earlier? Let\'s see if you don\'t appear in the void ;)
Remember\'s of Arngus\' words and controls himself and decides to cast a shield arround him and sends a thought to Arngus \"Is brain disablement allowed? No?\" turns to Am-Heh and whispers to himself: He\'s brain is already messed up, so the spell wouldn\'t make any effect.
Turns to one of Am-Heh\'s trolls and turns him into an apple and talks to Am-Heh while turning his back to him And it\'s all.
Walks towards to Tybalt
Oh, sorry then. I misunderstood what you said.
-
I endorse Thazer as candidate for Oligarch. His sense of justice, provision of additional security, and leadership ability are the best available qualities in the current batch of candidates.
Frankly, I do not believe Tybalt has the proper attitude for the job.
As for Druke, well, Druke is a wizard and wizards can be difficult to oust and tempermental. His personal forces are too influential.
Amheh is a threat to security on a regional level. As evidence, he has threatened the families of all running candidates. This poses a question of eligibility.
{edit: Btw, if I continue with my idea of a Hydlaa Law Enforcement organization until the time when the Oligarch is elected, it will become subservient to the reigning oligarch.}
-
*has been merely listening to what was said to her, feeling increasingly uncomfourtable and angry with herself.*
{They\'re right. I should\'ve kept quiet. I don\'t even know what an Octarch actually does!} *is reminded of Amheh when the lackey delivers the message, instantly feels the anger rise again.* {It\'s a hollow threat... probably.} *tries to calm herself with that thought* {He\'s drunk and stuff... probably making fun of me.} *tries to stay calm and turn away, but fails both*
*mutters more to herself than anyone in particular* It\'s too late. {I\'m probably already on his list of people to kill after his election.} *curses and watches Johns and Lordbugs causal displays of power, not knowing what to make of that, then glances back to the people who still seem to be discussing Amheh\'s recent twists*
Have you already forgotten what he has said? *jumps onto the fountain again, glaring at the crowd, almost screaming now* Is it so easy to distract you from what was said just moments ago? You know how voluntary that \"hiring\" is going to be? He\'ll be taxing the entire level into poverty, leaving you no choice but to \"voluntarily\" do what he tells you to! What else would these \"heavy taxes\" be doing for you, but tax you into slavery? He said it himself! He\'s now trying to distract from what he said, to soothe everyone\'s concerns! *screams* You cannot consider believing his talk about nothing changing! Even if there are meetings, the only thing he\'ll do is laugh at any concern voiced! Heck, he\'ll probably have his lackeys kill the ones who complain! *points to Amheh\'s flunkies, then turns to the building Amheh has entered and shouts* I will not give in to your threats! I will not back down!
-
As Meriner listens to the others speak he feels sevral would make exelent leaders even Amheh seems to have some points, but none seem to have it all as he sees it and soon he stands up and walks in front of the crowd to offer himself as a choice
Name: Meriner Seraphim
Race: Enki
Sex: Male
allignment: Lawfully Neutral
I do not believe in ruling with an iron hand. Nor do I think the people of this city will allow that with the gods setting so many rules already, but I do believe there has to be leadership. Decicions that have to be made and places that need to be kept safe.
I do not believe in killing all that I believe to be evil. Many disagree with what I think is evil and others feel what I do is already over the line. I believe in a place where everyone can life as they please aslong as they don\'t hurt someone else. That they can believe and act as they please aslong as it\'s not to hurt someone else.
If you chose me as your Octarch I swear to uphold the laws and to make sure they are fair, I swear to make things run as smoothly as possible, that everyone enjoys oneself and has a good life in our fair plane and this fair city.
This may be a simple view but I think this is what an octarch should do and if there are enough people who agree with me I will happily accept the burden.
*Meriner steps down again and in his mind is already racing ahead to what this election will bring.*
-
Selaros [male enki] wades into the mass of people and talks to a few people standing around and listening. He nods a few times at their various remarks, and then has a hushed conversation with Druke before climbing the fountain to address the masses.
\"I\'ve heard that you have some questions about Druke\'s abilities to follow through on his promises. I for one should know, he will do what he said. Those of us who are currently in the Order have already been discussing a method to deal with the water-pollution at Druke\'s request. While the idea we have come up with will require advanced magic and a good bit of planning, we are sure it can be done, given enough time and effort.
As far as expanding education goes, Druke has set several of us at the Order to work on researching education methods. The current goal is to establish several schools. In the beginning, those of us at the Order will hire citizens who we will train in the ways of teaching. Those teachers will help teach others until we are able to open enough schools to educate the masses of Yliakum. Because magic will be used in the construction of most of these schools, start up costs will be relatively low. Another goal is to copy the works currently residing in the libraries of the Arcane Order and other prestigious organizations and distribute them throughout several new public libraries that are planned for construction as well. The Order in general has always been dedicated to the furtherance of knowledge in Yliakum (hence our extensive public library), and the election of Druke to Otarch will only make this goal more easily attainable.
I\'ve also heard that people consider Druke potentially moody and temperamental. There\'s a reason he is head of public relations for the Order. Druke is kind and insightful, but steadfast in accomplishing goals. If elected to Octarch, he will not only solve some of the problems he has proposed, but will also will do his best to accomplish the goals of the people of Yliakum and make the world we inhabit a better place for everyone.\"
Before stepping down from the fountain, Selaros calls out, \"Druke will be fielding questions. So if you have any, feel free to ask away.\"
[ooc] Please PM Druke and/or me with any questions in addition to posting them here as we don\'t always check this thread every day.[/ooc]
-
*Arnigus listens to the words of all, nodding at the points he agrees with, frowning at the points he doesn\'t. Am-Heh still scares the daylights out of him any time he looks at him. But the path has been set, and must be followed, or all would be turned to chaos. That is what his father had said, and it was about time he learned from it.*
You all do yourselves a service, standing for what you believe in. As manager of this election, I must remain neutral in my support. Favoring no one over another. So it must be. I wish you all good luck, and am gladdened that so many show interest in the welfare of our wonderfull world.
[ooc]I am very pleased with all of you. :] You have been doing an excellent job with speeches and staying IC. I aplaude you all.
This seems like a good time to reiterate the plan as it sits. Next weekend, if there are no more than eight Hopefuls, the Hopefuls will form a Council that will decide which two of its members will be put forth as candidates for the next Octarch. It will then go to an in-game and open forum poll as to which of the two is the Octarch. All of this will be announced in new threads at the proper time.
Also, I would like to remind you that this is an unsanctioned election. As such, the position of Octarch will not have the support of the Devs, Mods, Talad, or Admins. In other words, no power at all. *looks back at Monketh\'s post* Well, maybe no power...unless all the guilds fall in behind you. (not likely, but that would be very cool.)
So, as it sits (this time around) we are still RPing the election only. The rest is up to you, PS.
A reminder of the Hopefuls so far (in order) :
Druke Ordo
John_Thazer
TheRedMonk/as Tybalt
Am-Heh
Seytra/as Netrhys Tanhren
Pestilence/as Meriner Seraphim
Good luck to you all!
-
*Druke\'s eyes boggle for a moment, taking in all the slanderous talk*
*looks over at John*
Let us pray none of these so-called \"Hopefulls\" get elected, for barely any of them has seen a full clestial cycle in our world, they are outlandish and in-experiancd in the workings of this society, OUR society, that we have helped build from the ground up.
I take great pride in our society, telling others on my planar journies ,tales of the land where one can earn his own way from the begining, and not here a bit of flack not earned.
as for being tempremental, i\'m afraid you have mistaken me with AO\'s head of security, Windwalker. i do forgive you.
-
*overhears Druke and looks at his own and Netrhys Tanhrens time here.*
A full celestial cycle? Both of us have seen the age of the hunt for crystals both of us still remember the age when weapons weren\'t used yet.
I am wondering if you really are in touch with the soceity as is and that you aren\'t longing for that what was instead.
This cycle brought new problems and new people. The dreaded \"Player\"is seen comonly and suddenly all are armed and it\'s quite a threatening sitiuation to have a meeting with several people poking you with their weapons.
It is good to have connections that reach long and far back but more importantly do you have a feel of what the society needs now? Can you live with what it is becoming?
-
Oh see your viewpoint.
and i see where you misinterpret my intentions.
My aim is not to incarnate the old ways, but to use the fundamental morals of those days, a Hydlaic Renaissance of sorts.
-
Renaissance? An age of change and question of the old values, don\'t really see the resemblance with your plans ;)
As for the values themselves I think they are admirable, but I don\'t think it\'s realistic to think the Octarch can inforce them.
-
a Renaissance would be the renewal of old values not the question or change of.
and to your latter comment, \"ba-hum-bug\" to you as well
-
Jumping atop the fountain again, Selaros called out to the crowd with building momentum and volume, \"Druke wishes only to return us to the days when you could walk the plaza without being accosted by dozens of unkempt and uneducated youngsters challenging you to fight. He only wishes to return us to the days when friendships and camaraderie were the most important values of Hydlaa. He only wishes to make this fair city into an enjoyable place to live and to make it\'s inhabitants happy to live here. Druke will not return us to all the old archaic ways. No, he will return us to the values of old and make all of us proud to call Hydlaa home.\"
-
Mulla toys with a stick and draws figures in the piss-mud at his feet, slowly scratching out 11 letters
R E N A I S S A N C E
I\'m still a Thazer man, though I\'m not sure I\'d drink with him.
-
thanks for the clarification i knew i was slaughter\'n it
-
hehehe. I see this goes on. I wish Thazer the best of luck, though I will not be voting.
And BTW: Let this be deleted if must but, your a** is mine amheh!
-
*Amheh throws his head back, laughing and is helped to his feet by two scarcly clad Enki barmaids..
\"Haa , I must admit that girls got spirit. \"
(with not only the kylos but now robinmagus in mind)
Walking towards the door, then raising his voice as the midday sun stikes his brow. \"Its a shame she is blinded by fake ideals and her mind obviously tortured by unobtainable goals.
*Grabbing the apple that Lordbug has offer him. Probably hoping for some good favour of some kind, for apples are rare within the realm. Amheh taking a bite smiles and continues, his trolls watching, hope he doesnt develope a taste for apples.
Taxes my dear girl \"might\" be enforced. None of my polocies have been set in stone, and all may be subject to reform or change depending on popular opinion.
[I*Making a mental note to track down all her kin, friends and loved ones and to impress upon them an exclusive tour of the Deathrealm.
Moving on through the crowd growing with familiar faces and losing sight of her. Amheh assumes that the young Klyros, looking shy and uncertain after her little outburst, has tried to disappear among the many faces in the crowd, he turns his attention elsewhere.*.[/I]
*Growing slightly annoyed now when over hearing Druke and his dog, trying to convince people how good the old values and morals were in years gone by and how they now need to be re-enstated..
You fools, must you fear change and progress within our realm. When once we had no choice but to flee the massing hordes of Tefusanges and rouges that attack our city. Now we, (some of us). stand tall, firm and strong. And slay these beasts that attack our weaker citzins...who are many.
The rats that once soiled our food supply and cursed our realm with the plague. Bringing on the death of our much loved Octarch, have now been keep to a small, controlable number and once again rarly stary from the sewers.
* Amheh walking towards Arnigus, and then taking place by his side. Grabs the fat mans hand and thrusts it in the air.. This man says he is neutral!! But he supports me! \"Gazing deep into the freighten bankers eyes\" Dont you..!
\"Nodding his head and looking towards the sea of faces.
Amheh thinks but it could be that the little man is just trembling so profoundly that it looks like he\'s nodding. Takin a seat nt far from the hopefuls and Arnigus, Amheh listens to people muttering amongst themselves..[/I]
*A few in the crowd mutter..
*Drone 1: I had no idea Amheh was backed by such high standing citazin within our realm..
*Drone 2:Me Either, he does make sense though...We should all vote for him..
*Drone 1:Aye..
*Drone 2:Aye...
Many heads nod vigourously...
-
[ooc]Please do not put words into other characters\' mouths or act for them. You assumed that the young \"Kylos\" (Klyros) ran away. You assumed Arnigus would back you under pressure. Whether or not these assumptions are correct or not, when you\'re RPing with other people, you can\'t take control of their characters (unless you have a legit IC reason for doing so, in other words, mind control ;) ). So please, don\'t do things like that.[/ooc]
Selaros snorted at Am-Heh\'s words and called out to the crowd, \"You think this bully will be better able to protect the city than a powerful mage? To be honest, even I could defeat Am-Heh.\"
Noting the murmurs of the crowd, Selaros smiled. People were discussing things, good.
Turning to Am-Heh, Selaros called out,
\"Am-Heh, I have a question for you. From your last little speech it sounded like you were claiming that you are the reason that the rats and tefusangs have been contained. Is this really what you\'re saying as you haven\'t given any support for this whatsoever?\"
Grinning ominously at Am-Heh, Selaros queried again, \"Do you seriously expect us to believe that without you we\'d have rats and tefusangs roaming the streets?\"
-
OOC: The Young kylos has already admitted to fearing her life. She did stand tall.
But, if i lose her from my sight within the crowd. even if she is not. My charactor has every right to assume she is hiding....Even if that is not the case...
Let the young lady fight her own battles as she is obviously more than capable of doing so.
In relation to Arnigus.
He on more than one occasion, has shown he is a coward and doesnt need much of a threat to be fearful of his life..
So do you not think it is highly probably, that if i were to put words, in his mouth, Grab his arm and force it in the air. He would be reduced to a trembling, \"supportive\" and trembling mess? Even if his opinions did differ from my own
If Either of them have a problem with my last post i will edit it..happily and i wont rp others in future:)
Anyways ....Back to the debate.
IC: No Chaos , I was not implying that i alone have been responsible for the curb in the Rat and Tefusang population, even though Im sure i have made a signifcant contribution towards it.
But in the Days of Old one had only words to defends oneself with, and now with the introduction of our finely crafted weaponary we, \"now\" can take \"Action\".. a word alot of the citazins and residents of old have forgotton. I do not propose a police state nor even a military presence in our realm.
I just want that our people, though education and support, can, will and know how to protect themselves if needed. Just one amongst many other skills that should be made common knowledge, through out the realm so that our population may be productive, intelligent and grow.
-
[ooc]
#1. You weren\'t reading. You can never assume. What if Arnigus hates you so much that he is able to overcome his fear and resist? What if he feels safe surrounded by the crowd? You don\'t know UtM\'s character as well as he does, so don\'t make decisions for him (unless he says you can), even if you think they\'re what he would do.
As for the Klyros (watch your spelling ;) ), your comment made no sense at all. Last quote from Seytra:
I will not give in to your threats! I will not back down!
She\'s fearing for life and running away, eh? Even if she were, that\'s HER decision, not yours. I personally would conjecture that she would have stood up to that comment you made, but again, I don\'t know her character either, so I wouldn\'t post about her doing that.
So please, don\'t manipulate PCs (feel free to play around with NPCs though, as long as you stay within their general character realm, if applicable).
[/ooc]
Selaros replied with a smile, \"Ah, I see. Well, in that case, fear not. Druke has not forgotten the word \'action,\'\" Selaros chuckled. \"No, to the contrary, if you were paying attention previously, you\'d have heard that Druke plans a complete revamp of the education system and a solution to the poisoning of our water source. If military action is necessary, I assure you, Druke will take the necessary steps. However, at the moment, I see no reason why we\'d need any sort standing army at all. Who\'s going to attack us? The adventurers and good samaritans of the city are dealing with our tefusang and rat problem. Not everyone needs to be trained in combat. We have a strong police force which is amply capable of defending the citizens of Hydlaa and maintaining order. So, what \'action\' were you referring to, since you clearly don\'t count educational reforms and since military action seems unnecessary...\"
-
[ooc]When someone gives you lemons....hide them from Krammy... ;) [ooc]
*Arnigus trembles as Am-Heh turns away from him. Oh, Talad, why did he ever start this election. He knew this would happen...he just knew it. Maybe if he snuck away, no one would notice...he could be gone before... For a moment, his father\'s face flashed before him, as he had been twenty years ago. The last time he had seen him...with the same disappointment in his eyes. As if to say, \'Will you let me down again, Son?\' Would he let him down? Would he let these people down? Would he let himself down?*
\"NO!\" he shouts, more to himself than others. Then realizes he spoke aloud as Am-Heh turns back to him.
\"So the worm has a backbone after all.\" [ooc] turn around is fair, but let\'s make this the last of it ;) please stick to your own chars.[ooc]
\"Y-y-y-you c-c-can not force me to support you. I must ...I will remain neutral....no matter the p-p-price.\"
*A large Kran with a dark spot that looks like an ink stain steps forward. He carries a thick, iron clad quarter staff with familiarity*
\"There will be no price, Arnigus,\" the Kran states bluntly an turns to the crowd. \"I am Hadarican. There will be no more threats, that I guaranty.\" He turns to Am-Heh. \"Know this, I will not flinch at crushing you and your trolls beneith foot as I would a diseased blackbeatle. And would not give a second thought at scraping your foul entrails from my heel as so much trash. I have no family for you to threaten, I have no friends to dangle as bait before me. Be wary of your words from now on, as Kran have much better hearing than you would think.\"
With that, he takes up position next to Arnigus, standing as cold and immovable as a stone mountain.
\"Thank you Had, once again, I owe you one,\" says Arnigus, feeling much braver.
*Up on the roof tops a little ways away, in the shadows of an overhanging tree where it is hard to make out, a figure sits shrouded in a thick cloak, despite the warmth of the day. A wind whips back the cloak for a moment, revealing the left arm of the figure. It is bundled heavily in thick coarse cloth, as if injured, though the figure gives no indication of it. The elections would go as planned?or there would be a price. The sound of metal grating on metal comes from beneath the cloth*
[ooc]None of you want to anger Had, as he could, most likely, crush you. And you really, really, really don?t want to mess with the figure on the roof (which only the most observant of you may see). He has no forgiveness at all, and your powers mean nothing to him (as some of you may know). These two characters have been put into place to prevent this thread from turning into a brawl?just in case.;) [ooc]

I am here to Vote for Amheh as Octarch. This person I think could fill the shoes of the old Octarch and more! He need custom shoes, with this vote and hopefully many others this nominee for Octarch will be reconized as a powerful political force. Kranmanb is my char name, buddy me up and lets go SLAYING. Go planeshift crystal blue best game ive ever played in years!http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/images/icons/axe.gif
http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/images/icons/axe.gif
-
*Arnigus stands with his mouth hanging open, as does many in the crowd. Had readies his quarterstaff at the words of the apparently rabid man.*
\"Good sir,\" says Had, \"I will ask that you do not use such words here...and please sober up.\"
-
Surprised at Arnigus\'s courage Amheh releases his grip, makes a snide comment and turns from the fat balding man.
Then apearing from the crowd, he realises where the new found courage of the banker has come, as a large Kran steps forth and makes himself known to the crowd, and in particular Amheh.
I see you have powerful friends Arnigus, this doesn\'t surprise me as you would have surly perished a long time ago.
Then quickly reconsidering he thinks to himself, even though hes a coward, he is incredibally wilely. maybe he could have survived of his own accord.
Looking at Arnigus again he doubts it.
Now focusing on the new direction the election was heading. He thinks to himself, I wonder from where this black spotted kran has sprung, I\'ve never seen him about? Why does he mingle in my affairs, i will find out more about this brave charctor who makes such claims..he will fall like the rest of these wretched souls\"
Grining to himself about his present thoughts, he hears another kran, he know little about. This brings him back to a consious state?
Listening with intreast, this other kran makes a brave speech in support of Amheh. Considering that the other hopefulls now seemingly losing hope that they can win of there own accord, have banded together.Fighting the election as a dont vote for him campaing, rather than a vote for me one, trying unsucessfully to poke holes holes in Amheh and his as of yet unrevealed polocies.
Which although seems quite unmoral, unfair and easy to do, all considering... Amheh thinks is quite lowly for people parading as morally strong, good hearted, non judgemental citazins and more like a thing his deviate, chaotic friends would have in mind.
Clapping loudly with many others, Amheh sends an ale over to Kranmanb via pretty barmaid, who takes place on his lap and offers to pour the cool beverage down the mighty Krans thoat, kissing his cheek, she whispers in his ear. \"A friend of Amhehs is a friend of mine\" .
-
Mulla chuckles.
He is clearly a sailor. For on the waves, where I have endured many years, I have learnt that \"buddy me up\" is a euphemism for \"let us make bed together\" and \"let\'s go slaying\" is well, a less polite euphemism for what follows. He is merely being affectionate, Arnigus. Don\'t judge him so harshly.
Mulla pauses to steady himself in the heat
But even that seems to fall rather roughly off his tongue. I wonder what his parents would think...
Ah, what a lovely thing I have found in my nose!
-
(OOC: *Laughs out loud* good one Buddha :) )
*raises his eyebrow to Amhehs tactics.*
It\'s obvious you like being the underdog Amheh but I have no quarel with you although I might not call you my friend or trust you with my trias. ;)
It seems there are no more people to run for Octach then their are positions on the council. So lets not kill eachother yet as we will have to work together no matter who the Octarch will be.
I think the diversity in the contestants is good as it gives all sides a chance to speak.
OOC:
To Druke:
\"Renaissance,\" French for \"rebirth,\" perfectly describes the intellectual and economic changes that occurred in Europe from the fourteenth through the sixteenth centuries.
During the era known by this name, Europe emerged from the economic stagnation of the Middle Ages and experienced a time of financial growth. Also, and perhaps most importantly, the Renaissance was an age in which artistic, social, scientific, and political thought turned in new directions.
-
(ooc)
however it was the embracement of new ideals, such as the political, intellectual, and social views that exsted before the dark ages( thats back in roman times) thus\"hey you know what, we were better off back then, we should try to reconstruct that kind of society\"
that was the Renaissance

*Detile entering the room, late and disapointed.
- Hi evereybody, i\'ve heard by Amheh that a political meeting stands here.
Like i said to him, i have no political ideas.
I\'m for the anarchy - but not like most of you see it; i\'m for a place where everybody can live like he wants, with a limit : not to do to others what you don\'t want they do to you.
My speech ends now cause my english is not my language, and i have a lot of job in Yliakum.
See you there.
*Detile turns aroud and leave the place with a littlle smile who say a lot for those who can see it.

Phinehas hobbles through the crowd, slowly edging closer and closer to where the hopefuls are standing. Eventually he comes to stand next to Tybalt. Leaning over he whispers, \"Sorry I\'m late.\"
Pausing to catch his breath for a few minutes he listens to the rantings of the various hopefuls and takes a few minutes to gather his thoughts. Then he begins to speak, quietly and steadily, but using the wind to spread his words even to the far corners of the Plaza.
\"Ladies and gentlemen you see before you several people, none of whom I would consider competent for the job.\"
He motions in the direction in the direction of Am-Heh. \"This fool cannot even be considered. He is a tyrant and makes no attempt to hide it. There is no need for you to fear him, as he is by no means all that powerful.\"
Phinehas then turns to Druke. \"My lord Druke. You are a great man, indeed. A great mage, an extremely intelligent individual, highly respected by your peers. However, I would hardly call you leadership material. Frankly, you lack the wisdom. Intelligence isn\'t everything.\"
Motioning to Thazer Phinehas smiles and shakes his head. \"Thazer here is indeed quite the vigilante. However, he is no leader. His guild, of which he is only leader due to the disapperance of Depthblade, is not exactly thriving. Thazer is an honorable man, and dedicated to his cause, but is his cause your cause? Do each of you have the desire to be forced to act according to what this man thinks is right? Even if you did, he is no leader. Depthblade was a true leader, Thazer is a poor substitute at best.\"
\"As for the others... What can I say? They\'re children.\"
Phinehas pauses for a few moments to let his words sink in, then he continues speaking. \"Many of you now understand that I support Tybalt. I can see the questions forming in your minds. How could a blind Diaboli be better than the others?
The simple fact is that he does not have the defects of the other candidates. He is no tyrant, like Am-heh. He is approachable, and willing to listen to suggestions, unlike Druke. He is not a vigilante bent on the eradication of all evil and never mind the consequences. He has lived here long, and knows the people. He is a natural leader. In Ashes all are equal, and yet even I submit to his decisions.
One of the greatest things about Tybalt is that, if you accept him as your leader, you will receive the benefits of all of Ashes combined, and filtered through his charming personality. I know many of you will think I cannot be objective. Perhaps you are right. All I know is that I am acquainted with many guild leaders and well-known individuals, and I can honestly say that Tybalt is the only one among them that I would consider submitting to.\"
-
*John returns to his former possition near Druke, the both men exchange some words. John\'s face grows grimmer as he hears and sees all that is being done. He watches Am-Heh smirking and laughing and generally making fool out himself, how could people even think supporting him, he shall bring nothing but disorder to Hydlaa. Thoughts drift by that having Am-Heh as an Octarch is worst than having Cabal run the city! He stands silent, all that needed have been said.*

*tries to figure to where is Arnigus looking and finaly sees a shape and feels a huge impulse of going there to check him and thinks to himself: \"He can\'t be more powerfull than me. Although I would like to talk with him...\"
*hears the others speaking and turns to the fountain again always consious of the shape on a roof
*looks at Am-Heh
Am-Heh, glad you liked the apple, more will come ;)
*hears John\'s thoughts and agrees with him and turns back to Am-Heh
Do you think your attitide will help you winning the elections? I don\'t think so, I even think those barmaids won\'t vote for you!
*hears the Kran\'s speech Ok, I was wrong... but.. well, that\'s the only vote you\'ll get...
*goes close to Arnigus sending a thought to the Kran to let him know he means no harm to anyone and whispers: You\'re safe here, that... Am-Heh, won\'t try anything, not with all this crowd here and lots of powerfull people. Although I\'m interested in that shape in the roof...
Looks at Phinehas and says to all As I said before, leadership can be earned with time. Oh, and never underestimate the \"children\", give them a chance. These \"children\" can have great ideas and may have the power to make them become truth.
It\'s hot today! *removes his emerald-green tunic and looks to the shape on the roofs again and thinks to himself \"That... thing can\'t be normal... Maybe I shouldn\'t worry about that too much\"
[ooc]
John... you\'re making Am-Heh do stuff :P (which he\'ll probably do anyway) Under the Moon said not to make other PCs do stuff... :P
Oh, please Preview your posts... or they\'ll might be like this:

How does one prove there wisdom to those who generally aren\'t willing to listen? I cannot orally prove it to you here nor can i prove it to those who do not near my domains(nor those whose domain i dare not enclose upon). to Druke: grabbing back to roman society is only true in art. In things like socially or politically they did not try to recreate the roman society. They mostly didn\'t even know what that was.
Socially things like turning away from the church (becuase things in the bible like a flat earth didn\'t seem to be true) were issues and those had nothing to do with roman values.
In Character:
*Meriner frowns as he is named a child*
A child? Even before I entered Hydlaa I have been around for a long time. I have led people in many \"other cities\". I also do not feel the time I have spend here is in itself nothing. Having seen more then five cycles of the moon in Hydlaa I think I know enough of the world and have made enough friends to not be called a CHILD in Hydlaa affairs.
Those that do call people like me a child to get rid of them show a very shocking lack of respect to people who do not belong to the \"inner core\".
This elitism is one of the reason there is this division. It\'s the reason the new people stay new a lot longer then they should have to be. They are not accepted. They are not welcomed. Sometimes they are even shunned.
If this city, if this plane wants to become strong, if it wants to be the best it can be. We must unite. We must unite in the fact we all love Hydlaa and the towns surrounding it.
To elect an Octarch who want to represent just one side is to elect someone who will fail. Is to elect someone who will be ignored totally and perhaps even laughed at by the other. An Octarch should be above such petty disputes, becuase don\'t be mistaken. These disputes are petty in the large picture.
-
\"Agreed. If we are divided, we will fail to act before it is too late, and people like Am-Heh will come to power. If Am-Heh is elected, this city will be reduced to utter chaos. Those who can defend themselves will find that they are hard-pressed to drive back the legions of Am-Heh\'s guild of evil, Deus ex Trucido, especially when he supplements their armament with weaponry bought with government money. Those who can not fight back, will find themselves robbed, tortured and killed. If we elect Am-Heh, we not only bring a madman into power, but also doom our fair city to destruction beyond anything ever seen before in Yliakum. Therefore, good citizens of Hydlaa, I beg of you, stand strong for what is right and good and make sure that this city stays free of corruption and evil so that all may live here in peace and be welcomed into the community.\"
-
*Phinehas smiles and shakes his head.*
You misunderstand my use of the word children. Perhaps it was the wrong word to use. I simply meant that in this world they are not nearly as experienced as the other candidates. Nothing more, nothing less. I\'m sorry if I offended you. Personally, however, I will not accept anyone who has not proven themselves among the community. I do not doubt their ability to think intelligently, or to have vital ideas, however, they have not yet proven themselves, and I remain cautious.
-
His temper being fuelled by the constant heckling of other candidates two weak, lilly livered and retarded to mount a campagien and instead blindly attacking his.
Continuing to grin and laugh with his entourage, Amheh thinks to himself, keeping a watchful eye on the Kran with the ugly birthmark.
Then calling on some more ales to be distributed amongst all.
Muttering in the young maids ear he askes that she supplement any rivals drinks with some of her own bodily fluids, she winks and whispers back.\"no problem my lord, your whim is my command.
Turning towards Kranmanb, to say.
These scum think that they can sway popular opinon by spreading lies and mistruths about me? Some of these hopefuls dont even care if they are elected, as long as i am not!! They must not have much drive to become Octarch or vision for our realm if elected!, their only purpose obviously to hinder me. Which they do poorly.
Watching as a few of the Beautifull Enki barmaids distribute the drinks amongst eveyone. Many glance towards Amheh looking at him with uncertainty.
Deciding its probably safer to drink from the waterskin tied to his belt.(obviously not containing water..but virgins blood mixed with a little rum).
Not mistrusting the maids, but just making certain theres no mix ups.
Its to early to have the taste of maid on his lips.
Prefering his bloody marry to the poor quality ale anyway, he raises his waterskin in the air..
*Standing, Amheh shouts!
To all of you, Even those of little faith in me ..I shant judge you too severly for you are young and niave and Have obviously mis-understood or have been lead down the wrong path.
After regaining his seat , he hears some of the crowds people complaining about the funny tasting ale.
Finally reaching boiling point and no longer being able to keep the false smile on his face, Amheh turns too look at the few hopefulls snickering and talking amongst themselves.
All of you hear this, I have a direction, goals....and one hell of a temper!
Looking at a few of the more loudly spoken candidates and crowd members.
Those of you who threaten me with physical action , better be ready to stand true to their word. John Thandar has already found out, if our paths cross, within our realm, Your death will be swift! In any other place but here of course..
Amheh looks cautiosly towards Arnigus and then his brute of a friend.
That stands for all of you!
-
*Arnigus holds out his hand to judge how the shadows fall on the ground. An hour till dark, by his guess. Time to call this day a close.*
Dear folks, I fear it is time to bring this meeting to a close until the morrow. I thank you for all coming here on this day to speak your minds, but I think that it may be best to rest the night and let tempers cool. I will see you here on the morrow...
*he tries to give Am-Heh a threatening look, but the grim look on Had\'s face makes up for the failure*
...All of you. Had here would not take kindly to any accidents in the night. A good night to you all.
*Arnigus turns and heads for home, followed by Had. The crowd slowly disperses. The cloaked figure remains silently unmoving on the roof...watching and waiting. It had felt as Lordbug\'s eyes fell upon it. Felt the curiosity in those glances as he had pulled off his tunic in the heat. He would be coming soon, if those looks where judged correctly...or Fate made it so...(continued in PM)*

Good job, all. I give this break so as the \'arguments\' have some \'time\' to cool off. Feel free to wander back into the Plaza anytime, but take note that it will be the next day.
Also, please keep OOC comments and arguments to a minimum.
Thank you all for your time. It means a lot.

Name: Nilaya Kaeli
Race/Gender: Female Enkidukai
Age: 20
Following: Other
Ways: Mostly Crystal, some Blue. Focus in Healing/Light.
A new day dawns on Hydlaa city, and many gather \'round the fountain in the morning light. Over the morning hubbub, a commanding yet gentle voice calls out: \"Your attention, please!\"
Eyes dart around to locate the source of the voice. Finally, they shift toward the statue at the center of the fountain, where a lone enkidukai stands. \"How did she get there?\" several whisper. The spotted figure simply smiles, her blue eyes twinkling slightly. Certain she\'s gathered enough curiousity, she vaults boldly to a lower perch on one of the fountain chutes, closer to the crowds.
She smooths her white robe and smiles at her audience. \"Good morning!\" she greets, waiting as the crowd murmors back. \"I am Nilaya Kaeli, a new entrant in the race for Octarch of Hydlaa.\"
\"A year and a half ago, my guild?the Explorers?was without leader. Our founder had departed suddenly, with no word, and no trace...and the effects were obvious. The once great Explorers slowly started to fade away, like so many others. Though I had never sought to lead a guild, friends from all over sought me out as the one to take her place?to lead the Explorers.\"
\"And so I did. I reworked the guild to be solid and sustainable...to value community and people over artificial titles and requirements. Tasks long neglected were completed, old friends came together, and many new friends joined our diverse ranks. Under my leadership, the guild quickly turned around, and gained a distinctive feel?setting it apart from the rest.\"
She grins broadly. \"Not to brag, but as many of you know, the Explorers just celebrated two years together?yet have never been stronger. Over twenty of us actively roamed these streets just this last week...many who have been with us for years. Yet, even with over fourty members...we are still close-knit. What other guild can boast so?\"
Many in the crowd applaud, impressed.
The enkidukai continues, her voice surprisingly calm: \"In all that time, I have kept the guild absolutely neutral?not showing favoritism to any one group...not even the guilds of my own friends. We\'ve had no allies, nor any enemies...free to simply be ourselves. You can expect that I would act impartially as Octarch.\"
\"I\'ve shown over the years that I\'m not afraid to call the shots, to use my own judgment and act on it?but yet I almost always seek input from people I trust, and from those affected by my decisions.\" She looks out over the crowd, and gestures, engaging them: \"Isn\'t it obvious? A good leader must be able to work with others?no Octarch, no matter how good, can solve our problems alone!\"
\"If you have any doubts, ask any Explorer. You will find I have proven myself effective, yet not disconnected from those around me.\"
She pauses. \"So what will I stand for?\"
\"It is clear to me that the greatest problem we face is this jibberish that\'s overtaken our land. I know you\'ve seen them?people who speak in strange, meaningless numbers and symbols...who somehow know our names, before any introductions are said...yet never really know us. Their very lives are nothing more than tria and training...but to what end?\"
Her eyes take on a kind of fire, energized as she surveys the crowd. \"And don\'t think I\'m talking only about newly arrived travellers! Even many who\'ve been here for ages have fallen to this strange illness?completely unable to operate in our society.\"
\"Many know nothing of the rich cultural heritage of these lands...of the legend of Korogan...the building of Hydlaa...the distinctive dsars of Ojaveda...indeed, many of them do not even know of Laanx nor Talad!\" An audible gasp ripples through the crowd; Nilaya simply grins. \"Sad, isn\'t it?\"
\"As Octarch, I would encourage activities and festivals which bring us together as a community, and celebrate the richness of our land\'s culture. I would fight to bring the lost back into our society?many of them simply don\'t know how. With a bit of guidance, they would become valuable citizens, living and working among us.\"
\"I\'m saddened by the lack of balance in education?so much training in various skills, but such little care for geography or history. Or even for taking time to interact with those around us. Together, if we can open the eyes of the lost, we will do more for our society than we could ever imagine. We can\'t afford to let them fade away.\"
Finally, she stops. \"Thank you!\" she beams, taking a customary bow. Smiling, she nimbly jumps down to the cobblestones below, and pads toward a quieter grassy area left of the main road.
-
Welcome Nilaya. May the light shine upon you. I am glad to see you as one of the hopefulls. :)
-
Oh, you think you are that good Am-heh? You really think that you are invulnerable? I am not to stupid as to threaten you with violence, if I did so I would not be better than you. But there are many who are better than you.
Spilts the ale on the ground, instead of drinking it, revealing that it was tainted with blood.
I just can say, that if you would be elected I would wander out.
He made a pause
And only come back when I grew strong enough to challenge you.
-
*claps his hands after hearing Nilaya\'s speech. Tybalt waits until Nilaya passes by him to talk to her.
Excellent speech, mylady. Good luck to you!
*smiles at Nilaya and then steps back among the crowd
-
Hydlaa sparkled, the sky sparkled, the ground sparkled. Greenwood (thats me) look on in excitement at the nearly naked female Xacha dancers in the square. The air was filled with sounds of a carnival. Greenwood breathed a deep breath and was made aware of [his] horrible breath. He awoke with a jump to all the commotion in the square. He sat up and brushed the trash he had been sleeping under off of him.
He thought, surely my brothers think that I have been killed. If not for all of the free ale that been given so freely, I would have been home before the crystal dimmed.
He ran off to report back to his brothers with dancing and singing maidens in his head and some of the effects of the ale still on him
\"I know who I am voting for!\" he said.
-
Nilaya, i must admit, i most wonderful speech
-
*Looks at Nilaya*
\"\'Tis a fine speech you made. I am glad to see more real hopefuls entering the competition.\"
-
Karyuu, standing quietly among the crowd, grins broadly as Nilaya finishes her speech, and nods in approval. Her eyes then turn to survey the rest, gathered around the statue, reading facial expressions and body language as they take in Nilaya\'s words. Satisfied with her observations, Karyuu makes her way through the crowd towards the white-robed Enkidukai on the grass.
\"Long live,\" she says simply with a warm smile.
-
Wakes from his slumber, to have his dreams of disemboweld children and burning vilages, cut short.
Raising from his stone bed, surrounded by the ever burning flames in Death Realm. Amheh yawns, streaches and starts to make the long journey out of his favorite reigion in the realm, and towards the city plaza.
Crossing several of the chosen ones and trolls along his way.
By the time he and his growing entourage arrive in the city, a fair sized crowd has already started massing.
He hears a few of drones, talking amongst themselves about, a lady called Nilaya. She has apparently made a heart felt speech, and appealed to a few of the weaker charactors. Some others saying it sounded more like a promotional speech for her pathetic guild and a few more disscuss her seemingly quite large ego. Thinking that this might be the beginging of her end.
Many in the crowd are hushed by the sight of the big red diaboli forcing his way back through the masses towards his beloved tavern and even greater love the maids.
Making him self comfortable once again, toying with a few of the vilage virgins, who are given stern looks by their mothers.. As if to say..you should know better.
With a virgin in one hand and his waterskin in the other Amheh settles down to breakfast and the begining of another..sure to be..intreasting day.
-
Darkshade sits in the corner of the plaza, watching the proceedings with slight interest, but with some disgust.
\"Father shows more promise than some of those...\"
Darkshade hissed through his teeth
\"Intimidation, lies, corruption, what next?\"
Darkshade shook his head.
\"Politics...\"
He watched each make their speech, each character they possesed. Each of their desires, and faults...
\"A nice day...\"
He murmured
Darkshade looks on in slightly more interest when the white robed Enkidukai made her speech, but he also waded through the crowd to stop near a grassy patch.
\"Well met, Nilaya, well met.\"
Darkshade nods at the sitting Enki
\"I\'ll be around.\"
Quickly, he left the square, towards the gates of Hydlaa. Outside, he quickly moved along the wall.
\"... It\'s around here somewhere...\"
Darkshade clambers over the battlements, and seized a book that was laying there
\"Now... where to put it...?\"

*Arnigus comes into the plaza with Had at his side as Nilaya finishes her speech. Nodding to himself, he opens his scroll of Hopefuls and writes down her name. One more, and the council would be full. He holds up the paper and reads aloud*
Hopefuls so far for being the next Octarch are as follows:
Druke Ordo
John Thazer
Tybalt (TheRedMonk)
Am-Heh
Netrhys Tanhren (Seytra)
Meriner Seraphim (Pestilence)
Nilaya Kaeli
I commend you all, and thank you for having the courage to step forth. Now, if you will excuse me...
*Arnigus falls silent and pulls out a thick sheaf of papers, marking off things that still need to be done.*
[ooc]It has been brought to my attention that in some of the past posts in this thread, some of you have used time on the forum as part of either your campaigning, support, or rebuttal of newer players. Even if it is done indirectly or IC, this is still unacceptable. I wish for no one to feel left out in the cold. This endeavor is meant to bring us together, not drive another wedge between us. Judging your fellows should be based only on the quality of their RP or their willingness to improve upon as such.
So I implore you, give everyone an equal chance, not looking at post counts or forum time.
Other than that, you have been doing an outstanding job. Beyond my expectations.
Thank you.

Phinehas hobbles toward the plaza, with a frown upon his face. It had been a long night full of thought, and towards morning he had begun to accept what he had known all along. As he stumbled along he had only one goal, to find Tybalt. Eventually he came across Tybalt, making a pass at a girl. He tapped him on the shoulder, knowing full well it was an unnecessary gesture, and pulled him away from the young lady. After whispering a into his ear for a few moments, Tybalt smiles in amusement, and goes back to the girl as Phinehas turns and begins to make his way to a seat on near the center of the plaza.
-
*Arnigus stops looking though the papers as he sees the time. He glances around, looking to for anyone else who had stood, but no one had. The crowd seems oddly quiet, perhaps with anticipation...perhaps with dread. He walks over to the vacant fountain and clears his throat, silencing the few murmurs*
Attention people of Hydlaa! The time has come to close the scroll for Octarch Hopefuls. We must now pass on to the next Cycle, in hopes that the healing may begin. Since we have only enough Hopefuls to fill the council, we have thankfully avoided the strife of having to elect members into said council. I will now take the new Council members aside and converse with them, asking them to chose which two amongst their rank will run for the position of Octarch.
*Arnigus begins walking through the crowd, searching out the former Hopefuls, now the Council. Coincidentally he finds them in exactly the order they had stepped forth. First, he finds Druke, and grasps his shoulder formally, handing him a scroll of the heaviest paper, of which he has seven.*
Druke Ordo, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish you good luck and fortune.
*He then moves on to where John Thazer stands proud, repeating the ceremony. John nods back formally.*
John Thazer, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish you good luck and fortune.
*As Arnigus approaches Tybalt, the Red Monk turns to him before Arnigus stops, somehow knowing of his coming, despite his blindness. Arnigus brings Tybalt?s hand to the scroll.*
Tybalt, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish you good luck and fortune.
*Arnigus turns to where Am-Heh waits with an amused sneer on his face. Arnigus shudders as he places his hand on Am-Heh?s shoulder, which makes the diaboli grin all the wider as he snatches the scroll for Arnigus?s hand.*
Am-Heh, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish? *clears throat nervously*?I wish you good luck and fortune.
*He rushes away from Am-Heh, bumping into Netrhys, who seems to be wavering between standing proud?and wishing she were somewhere else. He quickly folds her hands around the scroll before she decides on the latter and bolts. He then places his hand on her shoulder as he had with the others.*
Netrhys Tanhren, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish you good luck and fortune.
*He sees Meriner come forth from the crowd with a small bow. Arnigus returns the bow and repeats the ceremony*
Meriner Seraphim, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish you good luck and fortune.
*Finally, Arnigus waddles over to where Nilaya sits calmly waiting on the grass. The fenkie smiles and stands as he comes near.*
Nilaya Kaeli, I grant you the right of Council, and the first choosing of the next Octarch. I wish you good luck and fortune.
*Arnigus turns back to the crowd*
One of these people will be elected as our new leader, in this time of strife. Our hopes rest on them. They carry our dreams in the palms of their hands. Wish them luck.
[ooc] The bid to become a Hopeful is now closed.
A new thread will be created for the Council to discuss which two they wish to put forth for the running of Octarch. If any wish to continue RPing here, feel free to do so, as the Council thread will be for the Council only. Also, remember to go in-game and RP as you see fit.
Council members, you will be receiving your ?scrolls? in a PM within the next day, so don?t forget to check them.
I thank you all for participating in this RP experiment, and hope the rest of the vote goes as smoothly.
-
*With a grin on his face Meriner looks on to the crowd. Knowing there had not been any competition yet he doesn\'t know exactly what to think of the council he is now a part of. Thoughts rasing ahead wonder how to ever get back to two seeing all seem to feel themselves as the best choice.*
\"Perhaps a vote were every member has a vote and can\'t vote on themselves\" He ponders.
*returning to the present he enjoys the roar of the crowd and has one last look at all the different people gathered here who he would be honored to lead and feels proud of the fair city he is a part of. Then he joins the other hopefulls as they retreat to the councilrooms. Knowing that now the hard part is starting.*
-
Letting lose a loud burp, much to the digust of anyone within a 5m radius of the now full-bellied diaboli. The foul odour of rotton meat, and hard liquor fill the air.
Amheh accepts and regards the scoll he has just be give with intrigue..What jibberish will this contain, putting it aside to examine later.
Carfully looking over all of the 7 other contestants for Octarch, Amheh thinks about each one for a moment breifly.
Pondering how might and if any of these fools will affect his chances of gaining, in his opinon, \"his right\" to th highly regarded postion.
Druke Ordo has little clue, hides behind his co-freres and shant be a worry.
John Thazer has proven he is weak of soul, even putting Nilaya as more apt a candidate than himself. He will definately be no threat, i shant even have to slay his family.
Tybalt a worthy man who i shall keep close at hand. If not survey he might be able to scrap up enough of a following to hinder my path, Netrhys Tanhren the young kylos, brave , big and noble idols.. showing her imaturity. She shant pose to much of a threat to any of the hopefuls but i shall remain vigalent on her regard as stranger things have happened. Meriner Seraphim another of the few that pose some threat to an election that without his presence would be easily won. Last as well as least Nilaya a white robed magician, very much blinded by her lack of forsight, mistaking time spent in this realm as a counter for popularity strenght and ideal. Her guild of seekers forever looking but never finding. If she does represent the second Candidate for Octarch, i shall Drink to my victory before even being elected!
Then speaking out loud, Looking towards all his fellow candidates.. \"You are all worthy, please do not throw your self from the high towers of the city when you lose to me. For you have all fought hard. Talk amongst your selves and decide which of you are better suited to go against me in the polls.\"
-
*looks at the scroll in her hands* {So this is it... council... choosing the new Octarch...} *glances around to the other hopefuls* {I should be proud... happy...} *sighs; this was not much like she had envisioned when fantasizing about what being Octarch might be like, back when noone was even thinking of an election. Images of the greatness of such a day, now looking petty and ridiculous in their light-hearted happiness, swirling inside her mind and resisting her attempts to push them away, as if they were mocking her. {Come on! This is a great honour!}
Hering Amheh\'s comment, her heart sinks when an uncomfourtable thought comes up* {He\'s on the council, too.} *shakes her head* {If I\'m to run against him... wait... won\'t both be chosen by the council? Why is he so sure he\'ll be one of them?} *curses* {It\'s a trick! Another} *curses badly* {trick!}
I must make sure I know how this is supposed to work. I must not make more mistakes!} *already about to open the scroll, she reconsiders and hastily puts it into her ragged bag.* {Not here!} *Looking around, she forces herself to stand tall, determined to hide her feelings, her face turning blank. With one last look at where she supposes the council will be meeting, she walks off the plaza, vanishing into one of the many back alleys of Hydlaa, resisting the temptation to run*
-
Darkshade sits atop the guard walls, with his book open in his lap.
\"... So ends the choosing of the Hopefuls...\" he writes.
The pencil scribbles across the pages as he listens to the final remarks
\"... Now, each Hopeful must choose which two will move on... who will run for Octarch...\"
Darkshade pauses for a moment, and reaches behind him for his oak bow.
\"Now... who said they wanted this?\"
He turns to a new page, which he proceeds to rip from the book, writing a message on it
\"K, watch out for Am-Heh. He has tactics which would even makes Shadow\'s jokes seems like a walk in the park. There is a chance, however small, that there will be... problems. I\'m not below suspecting him of trying a few assasinations, or even blackmailing. Throughout this campaign, keep a close eye on him, and let the Hydlaa guard know anything that seems out of place.
Let the Hunter find their prey
R.\"
Darkshade quickly rolls the letter and attaches it to one of his arrows. He then picks up his bow, aims, and looses the arrow.
\"Politians...\"
The arrow thuds into the ground, the tip still quivering from impact, near a grassy patch.
\"I\'m not above expecting the worst... But I hate it when I\'m right...\"
Darkshade continues to write in his book, swinging his legs back and forth over the wall\'s edge
-
Karyuu\'s ears twitch towards the thhhhwp sound of an arrow hitting the earth, and she smiles to herself as the desire to investigate threatens to drown all her other senses. Leisurely stretching her upper body, her thoughts on possibilities of further intrigue and adventure, she then climbs down from the tree that was her watching post by the plaza, sinking talons lightly into the wood. As soon as her feet are on the ground, she scans the area for the shaft of wood out of the corners of her eyes.
\"Mmm... what exciting times we must endure,\" she whispers to herself as her gaze rests upon the arrow with a pierce of parchment attached. Her eyes become orange slits as she walks up and casually plucks it out of the earth, then without missing a beat raises it up to her mouth to hold onto it with her teeth, as she turns back to the tree and smoothly makes her way up its bark. Making herself comfortable among its leafy canopy, ears alert for anyone approaching, she unfolds the parchment and quickly runs through the words before giving them a deeper consideration.
\"Of Am-Heh once more, how curious,\" she murmurs under her breath, mouth quirking into a smile. \"If only Shadow was here to add his comedy to all this scheming.\"
Karyuu glances up from the letter to survey the area through the green foliage, though her mind is elsewhere. She wonders whether her chaotic nature will interfere with what is supposedly right, as well as her curiousity... and desire for a hunt.
Let the Hunter find their prey.
She then smirks, and nods slightly, her mind set. After tearing the last sentence off the paper and sticking it onto a branch (unable to resist the temptation of leaving a mark and making room for further mysteries), she hops down and makes her way to the depths of the Hydlaan city, humming a desert melody.
-
Darkshade watches the Enki take his arrow, and retreat back to her tree. The wind blows through his hair as his eyes narrow.
He puts a hand to his forehead and watches the Enki reappear, and disappear into the depths of the city.
\"She got the message, alright.\", Darkshade mumbles, as he casually replaces his longbow.
\"Never thought she\'d know my real name is, or was, Rorn...\"
He quickly stuffs his book into his backpack, along with a few notes he had scribbled earlier. Stretching, he relieved the battlement of his rope, and hurried back into the city streets, making himself scarce, hugging the shadows, keeping to the dark.
\"Hmm... C\'est ? la fois fou mais, surprenant...\" (It is crazy, but also surprising) Darkshade mutters quietly to himself. He himself knew what he was going to do. He was going to see an old friend.
- - - - - - - - -
Darkshade made way to the city gates. He glanced at the guards posted, and the open way to the forest...
\"When will they get here...?\" Darkshade mutters to himself.
\"It shouldn\'t take too long...\"
-
Mulla scratches his louse-ridden hair and looks skyward.
I wonder what those two are doing? Odd sorts, better find out who they are some day, but no bother now...
Returning to his stylus and parchment, the splinters torn from the side of the alehouse and a flat of putrid mud, he finishes his calculations.
Let\'s see, how many chances do we have to avoid a tie? Well, there are one hundred and five possible chosen pairs, but that leaves no possibility for everyone to receive exactly one vote. Hmm. Factor in that noone is likely to vote for Am-heh, and you get even fewer options.
Mulla\'s jaw goes slack and the drooling begins.
Let\'s suppose that I am choosing. My first choice, other than myself, is the person whom most closely resembles me, unless I am Am-heh, where I will pick the people that I think are most likely to lose. Now, my second choice, barring another that resembles me, is the person whom will garner me with some political power.
The writing becomes more feverish now, including arcane symbols, yet they don\'t look magical
AH! I know who it is!
Mulla rushes out of the plaza, leaving the imprint of a bare foot where the name of the next Octarch was once written.
-
*John Thazer looked at the aftermarch of what have occured, he stared for long, until nearly all have left.*
\"The first stone has been placed.\" *John said quietly. He turned around and was gone.*
-
Darkshade waited at the gates, as he watched the skies overhead. He knew it was stupid, stupid to even call that... rogue... to this city.
Darkshade felt the wind shift, felt the pattern move and tumble around him.
\"Either he\'s coming, or not...\" Darkshade whispers to the wind.
He shifts his posture, giving an allure of inattention.
He listened to footsteps, the click of feet, with a purpose.
There was a flash of steel, a metallic crash.
\"Sefron...\" he hissed through his teeth at the stranger.
\"How kind of you to show up...\"
The stranger laughed, and withdrew his blade, while he removed his hood.
The stranger was smirking, a look of contempt and sureness plastered his face
\"Darkshade... After all these years, you didn\'t forget...\" the stranger purred
\"And my only problem is that you did not mention it earlier...\"
Darkshade narrowed his eyes, even though Sefron seemed... friendly, kind.
\"You know why I called you here?\" Darkshade circled the man, keeping his distance...
Sefron\'s eyes gleamed. He sheathed his blade, then causally drew a throwing knife, and tossed it from one hand to another.
\"...To keep an eye on someone...?\" Sefron laughed again as Darkshade continued to circle.
\"Actually, someones...\" Darkshade\'s clenched hand opened, and he presented the contents to Sefron
\"Keep them safe...\"
Sefron grinned widely. He quickly took the object from Darkshade\'s unresisting hand.
\"How kind of you, sir, to... entrust me with those enscribed on this...\"
Darkshade darkens at his words
\"Sefron... you know the agreement...\"
Sefron glances into the eyes of his old friend, and notices a change... A ferocity that he didn\'t notice before...
His smile faultered, and he stepped back from the man before him.
\"Fine... But consider one of my debts repaid, Darkshade...\"
Sefron disappeared into the night, flashing Darkshade a toothy grin before he disappeared into the city.
Darkshade sighed inwardly.
\"That fool...\"
Darkshade, then, in his turn, left into the city depths
-
*Having taken a lot longer than she had expected, having had a hard time reading the scroll and pondering what to do, she eventually emerges from the back alleys. Closing in on the council room, she is getting more and more anxious.*
-
A man passes near Netrhys Tanhren, and whispers in her ear
\"Do not be afraid, there is somebody watching over you...\"
The man quickly disappears...
-
*This encounter surprising and baffling her, she fails to locate where the mysterious man has come from or gone to, when she slowly realizes the words. Shaking her head, she tries not to be scared by this, but only partially succeeds.* {Who was that now?} *curses* {It could be a trick... but that\'d be weird... why not just kill me instead... who would send someone...} *thinking of the yliaki she has gotten to know, especially of those she considers friends by now, she doesn\'t reach a clear conclusion. Vigorously shaking her head once more, she forcibly turns her thoughts back on the council, readying herself the best she knows.*
-
Sefron nods, and watches Netrhys vanish into the council chambers...
He had slipped a note in her hand, but she had not seemed to notice...
\"Now, that was child\'s play...\" he mumbled to himself
\"But now... inside...\" Sefron laughs loudly, and begins his ascent into the council chambers...
-
*walking back in from the plaza after looking for Thazer he more feels then hears someone is trying to enter the councilroom. Quickly going up a ladder and throught a corridor he catches Darkblade coming through a window as were it the most common way to come. Haven gotten his sabres back while on the plaza he quickly grabs them and points one at Darkblade.*
What brings you here stranger? Be gone this is not the time nor the place for interverence.
*Sefron gives Meriner a strange look. Perhaps surprised someone has seen him. Then jumps out the window again with ease. Meriner quickly runs to the window and carefully looks outside. Preparing for a knife being thrown or a stab from the shadows, but nothing happens and he doesn\'t see Sefron anywhere.
Shrugging Meriner decides to return to the councilchamber and report this strange event to Had and let him deal with it.*
-
OOC: #1: The character you have tried to \"catch\" is not Darkblade, but Sefron.
#2. I prefer that characters are not controlled as such,
#3. Sefron is climbing the council building, and is an expert assassin, not like your usual assassins.
#4. He\'s not entering through a window.
#5. He hasn\'t even attempted to enter the building yet...
EDIT: I\'ll put that as was on the council building, because he moved... again.
And, I don\'t feel like double-posting :)
*Ahem...*
Anyways...
Double EDIT: No double posting for me! :)
IC: Sefron stopped at the top of the building and sat down, his legs crossed.
He watched the council unfold, heard their decisions.
He had his crossbow ready.
But he also waited... for he was sure somebody would come.
....
As he saw the unfortunate being clubbed, Sefron laughed low enough to not reach the council, but enough to make people start.
How foolish was she...
A true assassin is never caught!
With those thoughts, he laughed, and settled to watch.
-
Monketh stands approximately 10 metres from the Chamber and calls out.
As the chief of Police, it is to my great displeasure that I must announce the posting of an additional patrol outside the Council Chamber. Due to recent events, the security of the Council Members is questionable. I have enlisted several of the Hydlaa guard to stand watch over the entrance. They are not permitted to enter, and Arnigus\' guard may take action to prevent their entrance if he decides it is in Council\'s best interest.
Men, assume your positions!
Monketh mutters something out of a spellbook, apparently something weak directed between him and the entrance.
-
Don\'t mind me, I\'ll just be moving on, then.
Chief, could you spare a few tria? It\'s going to be a cold night and I could use a bowl of hot soup...

1. Sorry editted it. My mistake
2. I only said that he came in a window and then jumped out a window. That Meriner thinks his look is strange is my interpetation

3. You said INTO the council chambers. Now taking that I don\'t think the asumption he doesn\'t go through the frontdoor is that big
4. see 3
5. see 3 you said INTO so accordin to that post he was. Not only into the building but even the councilchambers themselves.
Conclusion: You did post he was going inside and I think coming through a window isn\'t a big asumption. Anyhow there are no such things as the perfect and uncatchable assasin.
-
OOC: Okay, lemme tell you here.
He\'s not even in the building, and what you\'ve written defies standard RP rules.
You are not able to control other people\'s characters.
If you had indeed, written that you had heard a sound and went to investigate, and that no-one was there, then, everything would be fine.
The point is moot, anyways, Sefron is not even in the building, nor has he attempted to enter, he just climbed it, then moved to a position that would allow him to see into the council chambers... Not that you can really do anything about that, as your character does not know that.
If I had, instead, written that he was going through the window, then you point would be fine....
But I\'m not going to argue.
Point finished, nothing happened, kapish?
-
OOC:
No you don\'t get it. you said he was going into the council rooms, INTO. You did not mention how OK but you didn\'t say he was climbing the building and sitting ontop of it untill AFTER my post contradicting yourself in the process. Read your previous post it even says him saying \"But now... inside.. \" and now your saying he isn\'t trying to get inside.
As for me controlling your character thats not true. I made him go into a window wel yeaz. That is still within any RP-rules I ever heard of.
-
OOC:
...
As I said, I\'m not arguing.
...
Point final is: he\'s not inside, never went inside, and is sitting on top of a building looking inside.
-
OOC: looking inside? through a cieling? Anyhow there are barriers around the room so you still wouldn\'t be able to hear anything even if there was a window up there.
-
I must ide with Meriner...You did say you were \"lowering yourself INTO the chamber\". What did you expect him too think.. Now get out before i whistle Arnigus\'s dog..Had over to get rid of you :)
-
Be nice, everyone. All is taken care of. Do not worry, all of you are being watched right now. And Everyone can hear what goes on in the room per my first post. If anything go very wrong, there is one more trick I have up my sleeve. Anyone who has read \'Chain of Souls\' may already know what that is and who the cloaked figure running around is. ;)
-
Finally...
Anyways.
IC
Sefron noticed the gestures, the moves, those subtle messages the kran and his friend were messaging...
\"Ah... They know I\'m here...\"
Sefron closed his eyes, and felt...
There\'s.. two... up here... One, watching... They can rest in peace, but the other...
Sefron jerked open his eyes, and flashed a glance across the buildings, his crossbow up and ready...
THERE! he thought.
Nearby, he could see another figure, with a crossbow similar to his...
But there was a difference...
While Sefron \'s arrows were runed, the other had a runed crossbow, one of force...
The figure was aiming at the council...
There was a click...
\"Tsk, tsk, too bad.\"
There was a thud, and the figure jerked suddenly, and fell, crashing into the foilage below, and the bolt it fired missed, which impacted on the wall, cracking it...
Sefron slowly lowered his crossbow, another bolt in place.
He looked amused
\"Always check your surroundings,\" he intoned, as if lecturing a student, \"You never know who will be there...\"
He grinned, and set his attention back to the council, who was sure to know something was up...
\"Lets see about that kran there...\"
He removes a mirror, and starts reflecting the light at the kran. The message was clear, but no-one save the kran could see it...
\"They\'ll know there\'s an.. \"Guardian Angel\" watching over them, soon enough...\"

\"Go buy another blanket, and get moving.\"

*from within the chamber Meriner hears a sound from higher up probably on top of the building or something, something falling most definately. With a frown he looks at Had. Not feeling to safe with all these interuptions and people lurking around Meriner starts to think the next octarch better be good at making sure he or she survives assasination attempts.
He feels at his side where normally one of his sabres hangs, Then realizes what he is doing and cant help smirking.*
-
Monketh hears a faint noise of small material scuttling down the roof. Realizing whatever it is must be invisible, and that someone who is not a powerful mage should not be able to see the person, he bluffs, pointing crossbow towards a likely spot.
\"EY! YOU UP THERE! GET OFF THE BLOODY ROOF DAMNIT!\"
-
Sefron puts away the mirror just in time to hear the shouting from the Hydlaa guard captain.
He grinned, and closed his eyes once more...
He\'s aiming in the wrong place, no wonder... The \"invisible\" person is higher up... Who is not invisible at all, it seems, because it is definately not me...
Sefron opened his eyes, the bright light flooding his sight, the council chambers, the buildings nearby...
\"Aim higher, little guard...\" he chuckled, while he traced the runes on his bolts...
EDIT: The end of the council meeting...
Sefron leaned back, cracking his knuckles... This part was over, but his participation was far from it. He still had his duty, which he would complete, no matter what...
He heard a scraping noise, and he wheeled, his crossbow raised, only to see Darkshade, his bow also notched, and aimed back at him.
Sefron broke into a grin
\"Well met, friend, to avoid an assassin\'s awareness...\"
Darkshade allowed a small smile to pass his lips, but he did not do more
\"You still have to cover them, you know... Glyphs are only magic, and they can be surpassed... It has happened a few times before...\" Darkshade spoke softly
His face darkened.
\"Even though those who have these Glyphs on are remarkable in their own way... I\'ve seen things which may seem impossible...\"
He glances at the crowd, and the departing council members
\"You\'d know, after all, you have everything a person would need to overcome those...\"
Sefron noded
\"Those are meer trinkets, not really defense... I fear Armigus may be overexaggerating, or he does not know the true limits of those glyphs...\" Sefron spoke with a heavy tone, one of sorrow...
Sefron removes a couple bolts from his side, entirely crystal bolts, each with an intricate pattern inscribed in them, and each blood-red.
\"These are the things to surpass them. Only a handful have them... Or are willing to use them.\"
Sefron looks at Darkshade, keeping their eyes locked
\"These don\'t just kill, my friend... They obliterate.\"
Darkshade nods once, but slowly
\"I know, the Crythiam legend spoke of the like, but I never believed them...\" Darkshade whispers softly...
\"Make sure that no-one, ever gets the chance to use one, friend... If there is one assassin, and they manage to aquire one of these... By who-knows-how...\" Darkshade cuts off, leaving the sentence hanging.
Sefron nodded, his dark eyes searching the crowd
\"You can count on me, but...\" he trails off, as he looked into the council chamber itself...
\"Keep an eye on the fat one. He\'s trouble... My toe is pricking, and I know that he may have the resources to get one of these... to make sure that he\'ll ascend to become Octarch...\"
Darkshade sat down next to his old friend.
\"He\'s not the only one who may have one, or can get one...\" Darkshade suggested darkly, a whisper of challenge...
Sefron nodded, and walked to the edge
\"The Octarch candidates are safe... for now. But the others are not. I\'ll keep an eye on them all.\"
Sefron disappeared from sight, his agile body moving quickly down, into the streets...
Darkshade blinked once, and scanned the surrounding, before he lifted out a couple of crytal arrows from his side...
He lifted them, one after another, and set them next to his bow...
\"Am-heh... You\'d better not try anything... Or else the Hunter will begin the Hunt\" Darkshade whispered to the wind...
-
*oops* :D
-
Under his new blanket, the beggar keeps warm with a flask of rum. The news of the candidates stirs hims.
Off by one! Well, I had the first correct. Hmm, probably miscalculated Am-heh\'s utility function. Better try next time.
Mulla drifts back into his stupor...
