*Efflixi stand up in the Middle of the Hydlaa plaza and begins:*
\"People of Hydlaa Hear me out!
All us anarchists and anti-government people out there must stand togeather at this time! We must stop this threat of yet another corrupt Octarch from getting into power! With power comes corruption and power comes through the government! We must stop this threat today! For yet another tyrant has died and another one is already coming into power! We must stand bye eachother and defeat this evil for we can not do this alone! So come my brothers, we shall march on the day of the vote, we will NOT vote, and we will destroy our enemy who supports this evil! And that enemy would be the people who vote for our new tyrant!\"
*Efflixi stand for a second to let the croud take it in and begins again:*
\"How many times have your beloved Octarch\'s rasied your taxes so they can become even more rich! How many times have you seen woman and children get beaten for looking an Octarch in the eye! HOW MANY TIMES, HAS YOUR OCTARCH COME TO YOUR HOUSE, TORN YOUR HUSBANDS AND YOUR CHILDERN FROM THEIR HOMES AND OFF TO WAR TO NEVER BE SEEN OR HEARD FROM AGAIN!\"
*Efflixi slams his fist on the ledge infront of him*
\"Let us end this reign of terror among our people and embrace a new world! A world without corruption or tyrants! On the 17th, do not vote and end this plauge which we have suffered for so many years! Lets us embrace eachother and become one to defeat this evil togeath!\"
*Efflixi raises his fist into the air and cheers on with the roaring croud*
\"And with this, my brothers, I take my leave. You now know the path to our salvation! Embrace it! It\'s yours!\"
*Croud keeps roaring and Effilxi walks off*
Edit: some spelling

*looks at the crowd blindly following Efflixi. Grins ruefully and shakes his head*
And I thought you were against controlling the masses. :D

:D Isn\'t it amusing how anti-government anarchists always turn out to be the best leaders. ;)
Lead on my friend. We\'ll see where this goes. Should make things interesting too. Every coin has two sides.
-
Do you truly believe you can put an end to power and leadership? You say you teach but what is a teacher if not one who tells others what is their truth?
A true teacher does not lead by shouting out their thruths, no a true teacher leads by asking questions and making their pupils wonder until they can discover their own truth.
I say your anarchy is much like Communism .. only it doesn\'t even work in theory. Us Yliaki need laws, we need order and we need to have someone who is willing to pick up the power to unite us all under one law and one nation. Without a potent leader the levels of Yliakum would shatter and divide. The races would turn against eachother and the entire nation would be broken up into groups. War would follow soon as one group tried to march in on the other \'s territory or steal the other\'s power. Crime would peek as there is no longer a united policing force. To put things short, Yliakum would be reduced to .. what it was sadly. Our previous Octarch never cared much for the people and he wasn\'t much of a leader either because he was chosen by the External Circle of Vigesimi.
But this time it will be different. Now we will have the power to choose our own leader, a leader from the people and for the people. It will be one of us out there and of course corruption will rear it \'s ugly head. But did you know that corruption provides jobs and income to over 20% of Yliakum\'s population? A healthy society needs a darker side to maintain the balance. A large portion of the economy relies on corrupt and \'wrong\' methods to change ownership. I believe a strong Octarch realizes this and that s/he will always be forgiving towards certain trades that aren\'t seen in broad daylight but at the same time puts down strict measurements and will never officially cease to fight them, in order to keep corruption at a reasonable and useful level.
I say yes to one chosen leader and no to anarchy\'s many self claimed positions of power! I say yes to the elections and I will vote!
-
Oh dear now you all have completely confused me and I don\'t know whether to vote or not ?(
Regards,
A very confused Adyna
-
Hmm... anarchy, chaos, madness... sounds fun where do I sign up :D
Though I have to admit some things just do not work well in chaos and this might be one of them. Besides without the government what would we have to complain about and blame for everything.
-
Uhm why not make yourself Otarch Efflixi?
There\'s no use in starting a revolution yet while we still have Game Master Mantle breathing down our necks with their galkards pressed at our backs can we?
-
Efflixi, I\'d like to offer my services to help enforce the anarchy. The threat of an elected government looms, and we must organize to prevent such an abomination. I could be useful in such an arena.
Under The Moon. Let\'s the coins fall? Ha! I am only interested in the side of the coin that rubs my pocket lining.
-
Yes, yes. Dont vote. Stay clear away from this election. He is clearly giving a con act, but help him. Help Efflixi Aduro to bring his middle man into the office. Help him to the power he wants. It will only bring us closer.
-
Supported by a leader of pickpockets and snitches one dares to condemn corruption.
Life sure has its irony, don\'tcha think.
-
In case everyone does not know, this is just for the Octarch which is a position with no real power. This is just meant to be fun for a person who loves rp. However if it were for a government I wouldnt vote because I love chaos as well :).
*Valbrandr announces the Vote and Die campaign
but thats not till later
-
I say no to elections. Government isnt needed. Not for now..
-
Dear citizens! I bit you hear not the words of this rambling madman. He does not know of what he speaks. Only chaos can come forth from his plan of action?or shall I say inaction? If we stand aside now, it will surely cause a cascade of events that will lead to our destruction.
Warlords will step forth to fill the vacuum of power!
Blood will run in our homes!
*Arnigus leans forward, forgetting his fears in the heat of the moment*
It?will?be?Disaster.
*he says the words slowly, letting each one sink in. Then points a chubby accusing finger at Efflixi*
You Sir, speak of a world without government, but in those same words I see not a new beginning of peace, but a new wave of war and strife. People need structure. They need someone to look too in times of bad fortune. Someone they can lay their hopes and dreams on. You choose to cast us out into the cold -naked and alone- to fend for ourselves in a world full of unknown evils and hidden dangers. But in your world, those evils and dangers would come forth, having nothing to fear. No recourse for their actions.
You think that we would not have a government?and you would be right. We would have a tyranny. The strong would seize power, subjecting the weak.
I say this is not a continuation of the past, but the start of a new future. So do not stand aside, hoping that good will win though. Step forth, and make it so! If you fear corruption, take a stand, become a Hopeful.
*his words take an ominous tone*
Know this, we will have government one way or another. Will it be one of your choosing?or one that is chosen for you in the crushing grip of a warlord. Your lives, and the lives of your children, rest on this decision. Do not cast it off so lightly.
*Arnigus steps back to the silence of the crowd. But that is what he wanted. Not to rile people?s passions, but to appeal to their sensibilities. Some of the people in the crowd have children with them, and they hold them close at his last words. Some of the mothers shoot Efflixi dark worried looks.*
-
Ah you poor souls, if you truly think I am as corrupt as these men who have made you suffer then you are truly the madmen here.
If I wished for power I would be running for the position myself you ignorant fools. I am nothing more than a humble teacher who teaches what he has learnd and learns what he has not. If you call my attempts to liberate your people a an act for power then you and your people shall crumble. If I truly wanted power why would I be arguing against this election. These men will be the death of you all some day.
Much thanks to those who agree with my words. May you live a life with the freedoms we lack here.
But those who are so blinded by this corprate machine to see the truth are truly the ones at a loss here. My Laanx allow your souls to rest when your time comes.
I am no more than a humble man spreading my wisdom of ages but if you do not wish to accept that, so be it. Let your foolish lies lead you to your deaths.

Objection!
*Monketh opens a briefcase and withdraws from it, bringing out a large stack of cleanly cut papers*
I have in my hands historical evidences that anarchy is detrimental to the entire of society, more dangerous, even, than absolute dictatorship.
Anarchy breeds the worst from of government, organized crime. It is for this reason, and this reason is only one of many, that the election of a ruling figure, or else a council of ruling figures, must be brought to its\' natural conclusion.
The brutal oppression of the masses to be wrought in future times should this man succeed in pressuring a boycott of your one and only ability to voice will shock and awe you. For the sake of your children and your loved ones I must entreat you to speak through the ballot! It is your best and primary hope.
As for this man, he blinds you with his light of \"freedom\"! Tragic as it may be, the most efficient route for him to eliminate his opponents from the race to power is simply to prevent the race in the first place and seize it for himself. Do not forward his goal, if you so despise those running for the office, do not let that be your excuse, run yourself!
The only right I cannot give you is the right to apathy, my fellow citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure your own future. The Oligarch will be elected, whether or not he is your oligarch is in your hands entirely. Go well, ladies and gentlemen, and live well.
-
Being silent means only that your voice is not heard.
In a democracy those who vote rule, while those who are silent change nothing.
If you want change you must do something to make change- not allow change to be something done to you.
~Korm
-
*Argigus nods to Monketh, though he eyes the breifcase warily (you see, he had a bad run-in with one as a child, also, he fears papercuts)*
You speak wisdom, though I fear that many will be deaf to your words. Not one Hopeful has yet to step forth. I fear that all courage may have left the lands.
So I implore you all, cast off your fears! Place your name on THIS SCROLL (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=16349&boardid=15&styleid=4&sid=b9a9d4385a58384104413e64c055f6bb) . BE the next Octarch...or we will be forced to give the job to Xordan, the very embodiment of corruption.

What you are preaching Efflixi sounds like a revolt. And revolutions are dangerous and rarely carry the desired result. Revolts have a way of returning to their pre-revolt state after a time.

Agreed, hypocracy isn\'t it? What anarchist LEADS? Hmmm...
Induane gets out a small letter grade scale. - Sets Pure Communism on one side, and Anarchy on the other...
Studies the results...
Its official, anarchy is nonsenical ravings of power hungary lunatics.
Induane starts cranking his patent pending political machine, setting the wheels in motion to bring true communism the the realm.
*ponders ponders... does the end justify the means?

=\\ err what the hell are u talking about? Anarchy isnt that! Anarchy is the power with the people! Its the united comunity that fights for its survival. Its the union of individual\'s interests for the common objective. The creation of a stable society were there are no classes, and no tyrants to rule over no one! Its the utopia, and i fight for the utopia in Hydlaa!
What you are preaching Efflixi sounds like a revolt. And revolutions are dangerous and rarely carry the desired result. Revolts have a way of returning to their pre-revolt state after a time.
It isn\'t a revolt, it\'s an expression, It\'s an opinion. Revolts use and abuse of strenght and violence, and i havent saw till now anything like that.
What anarchist LEADS? Hmmm...
It leads to the utopia, the perfection, a total different thing of the things i\'ve heard on this last posts.
Its official, anarchy is nonsenical ravings of power hungary lunatics.
Am I a lunatic? No.
Induane starts cranking his patent pending political machine, setting the wheels in motion to bring true communism the the realm.
Finnaly something that i\'ve heard that pleased me.
Just a thing, arent Communism and Anarchy things that have something to do with each other? Study a lil better the Anarchy and then check..
I say no to elections, i wont vote, i wont ever recognize anyone with a greater power then me or the rest of the Yliakum habbitants (in a political way, guilds are excluded, they are groups of ppl that are grouped for a reason, no one is forced to be on a guild).
I do fell that only a few or no ones are with me. But i\'ll maintain my opinion.

People seem to be having problems with this definition. From
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=anarchy
Anarchy: an?ar?chy
n. pl. an?ar?chies
Absence of any form of political authority.
Political disorder and confusion.
Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.
n : a state of lawlessness and disorder (usually resulting from a failure of government)
*******
So basically all of the active anarchists on this thread are violating the definition of anarchy by saying things like \"power with the people\". That\'s okay, it just weakens their arguments a bit. They are mostly preaching forms of socialism.
Also, I can\'t think of any historical anarchic societies. Even hunter-gatherers were oligarchies. Even if you are out with say, six or more friends, you development a small government to decide which movie you\'re going to see, where to eat dinner, etc. I\'m not an expert on this, so please correct me.
-
\"Anarchism generally is identified as chaos, for being a doctrine politics that defends the abolition of any type of formal government; but, in the truth it is not this well. This word is formed by the suffix of archon, that in Greek it means governor, and an, that means without. Or either, Anarchism means \"without government literally\". The main idea that conducts the anarquismo is of that the government is total unnecessary, violent and harmful, in view of that if all the population can, voluntariamente, if to organize and to survive in peace and harmony.\"
(removed from an Anarchist site wich i dont remenber the link, just keeped this text an some other in a file to use them later. Translated from portuguese to english so sorry for any mistake).
I cant change what dictionarys say or prove theyr wrong, specialy when the meaning of what anarchy is treatd like trash or its confused with Anarco-Punk movements ideologism.

Arnigus shrugs as Moogie of the ever changing avitar -all by her little self- shoves the growing crowd into the little used and very dusty forum where plays are often acted out. He takes a seat on one of the cold stone benches.
\"Ouch, banished to the RP forum.\"

Being sent to the RP forum isn\'t a punushment, it\'s an honor.

I\'m just a humble man, interpret my words as you wish but only taking them the proper way shall lead you to your salvation.

But who is to say that taking your words in the way you see them is the proper way for all of us?
For a humble man you seem awfully certain that your own truth is the one and only truth.

*looks at this all from a distance and thinks:*
hmmmm, there might be a song in this!

*skipping around the plaza in a usual joyful mood Demarthl thinks to herself*
\" a vot that is not cast is a vote to someone you don\'t want as an Octarch \"

What purpose has spreading your own truth to those who do not ask for it?
None besides making it easy on people who cannot or refuse to think for themselves if you ask me.
A teacher is one who asks questions and lets their pupils find their own answers. Not one who provides answers to unasked questions.
-
Fellow citazins of the realm, Dont sherk your responsibilties as voters!! you all combine together to create a diverse electorate..Without your presence some one will be voted in as Octarch that doesnt truelly represent the majority of our community!!
Come and voice your support for me as Octarch....If you plan on voting against me...you\'d do better to stay with this movement and stay at home on voting day.

Hearing Am-Heh\'s words, Selaros shakes his head. \"Am-Heh is crazy. Since I\'m not running, it doesn\'t really hurt to poke some fun at him, does it?\" Selaros murmurs.
Nodding resolutely, Selaros jumps up onto a nearby platform and calls out to the crowd, \"Attention everyone. Please, look on Am-Heh. Look, and laugh. This person advocates neither voting or not-voting, nay. He advocates voting for Am-Heh. \'Of course,\' you say, \'he should be. He is running for election, after all.\' To you, I say that this is not the place. This discussion is about whether to vote or not. It is not a debate on who to vote for. I, for one, am sick of Am-Heh\'s shameless self-promotion in every conversation that he participates in. There is a place for campaigning. This is not it. People of Hydlaa: if you wish to vote, go, and vote for the one you would like to see elected as Octarch. If you\'d rather not vote, then vote for no one. Whatever you do, though, make sure that you make your own decision and are not bludgeoned into voting for a candidate by such pervasive and repetitive campaigns as the one Am-Heh employs!\"
-
*Grins at chaos.
-
Darkshade rolls his eyes atop the battlements.
\"Even worse, now they incite a revolution!\"
Darkshade stands, and hurries along the battlements until he drops down to the outer wall of Hydlaa.
Scampering along, he finally comes to rest where the rest of the plaza can hear him
Standing, he shouts out across the plaza.
\"People of Hydlaa! Do not be deceived! Anarchy will not solve your problems!\"
Darkshade gestures with his hand.
\"Regardless if you all refuse to vote, it makes it that much easier for a tyrant to take control of the city!\"
Darkshade listens to the silence that his voice made, as it reaches across the plaza.
He then cries out again.
\"If you choose no government, then a person could take advantage! No government means no rules, no security, no safety.\"
He points to a mother and child
\"See her there? With her child? It is the law that keeps us safe, keeps people from stealing from her and killing her and her son!\"
Darkshade waits for the cries to die out. But as he does so, he hears a question.
\"What\'s to stop me from doing that to her? Eh?\"
Darkshade stops moving for a second, a grim smile on his face. Then he responds.
\"There are... Repercussions. And me...\"
Darkshade moves into a position of threatening, then relaxes
\"But, if there is a choice between a self-elected tyrant or a choosen leader who can turn our humble city of Hydlaa to a great city, whom whould you chose? For that is what lies before you!\"
He gives a grand gesture, sweeping his hand across the whole city
\"Regardless of what you choose, the one vote that you do not cast, will help a tyrant ascend, turn this city into a haven of torture, pain, and death...\"
Darkshade looks at the crowd, his words soft, the crowd in anticipation of his words
\"But keep an eye out... Let no one threaten you, or bribe you into changing your vote. It is those that will ultmately harm you. Hydlaa\'s fate rests on your shoulders, citizens of Hydlaa... Be sure to make the right choice... To be happy.\"
In silence, Darkshade walks on the wall, back towards the battlements. In silence, he climbs the rope he left.
But as he went out of sight, and sat down, he could hear, quite loudly, the cheers and exclamations of people, each incited by his speech.
Darkshade grinned.
\"There\'s one less problem, now.\"
He then shook his head, and continued to listen from above
\"... Even though, I hate politics...\"

Learch paced slowly near the back of the crowd where the crowd was thinner. His stride was not agitated but was the unhurried gait of someone amused by goings-on.
He stopped pacing beside a Kran and Enkudukai, and said, seemingly to himself, \"Interesting.\"
The pair looked at him, exchanged glances, but didn\'t respond.
Learch continued to stare ahead at Efflixi\'s frantic gesturing in the distance, and spoke again to no-one in particular, \"I\'m reminded of a small Xacha village I spent some time in. A radical thinker, an anarchist, came in and convinced the people to throw out the village chief. They banished him to the wilds, where he met certain death.\"
The Kran and Enkudukai glanced at each other, this time raising eyebrows to acknowlege the significance of the story. This was no mere vagabond.
Learch continued, \"It didn\'t take long for things to start breaking down -- the water supply became putrid, because no-one had the right to tell others not to put garbage into the stream. The village was kept awake all night because no-one had the right to tell others not to make loud noise all night. Without law and order, the gates went unguarded at night-- \" at this unthinkable omission, the Kran and Enkudukai both gasped involuntarily \" -- and several strong men were eaten in the night by a pack of roving Consumers.\"
The Kran\'s hoarse voice asked, \"How did it end?\"
Learch smiled wryly. \"They became organized. They elected a leader to organize them. This fellow dictated who was to guard the gates on which nights, and set rules for conduct. Very strict bunch. In all that district, there was nothing stricter than the Federated Association of Anarchists.\"
The Enkudukai asked, \"So you\'d vote for one of the Octarch candidates?\"
Learch nodded, \"Absolutely. The alternative doesn\'t work, and leads to even worse things in the long run.\"
The Kran asked, \"But what if the Octarch becomes corrupt, like the last one?\"
Learch laughed, and turned towards the tavern. He called over his shoulder, \"Well, my friend, there are always ways around that. For example, I know a really good potion-master who can make poison look like the Nusquam Esse Plague...\"
The Kran whirled to face the Enkudukai and hissed \"Wasn\'t that --?\"
The Enkudukai\'s eyes were bulging as he stared incredulously at the spot in the crowd where Learch had disappeared. He said slowly, \"Yes. Nusquam Esse Plague was what killed the LAST Octarch.\"

*shakes his head*
It is simple, do what you wish and support your cause. But there is no need to be offensive. Your agresssion will only show your ignorance.

[ooc]*slaps Efflixi on the back* :D
Seems like we have drawn from the woodwork quite a few excellent RPers. Mission successful. :D
[ic] (let\'s see, Arnigus is in the Council Room, Had is guarding the door, Roth and Toth are drunk somewhere, Tybis is still in \'Tavern Tails\', so that leaves...ahh, the figure on the roof.)
*The figure moves though the deep shadows of the ally, keeping the cowled cloak held tight. It did not really matter if it was seen, but it prefered the company of lonelyness to the hurt of friends. That is the way it must be. Also, the election must go forth. That was also the way it must be. For good of ill, if such things truly existed.
The figure reaches the open street and sees Efflixi a little ways away. The sound of grating metal comes from its left arm as it tosses a small wooden rod wrapped in a scroll, hitting Efflixi in the back of the head. If he should turn, he would see nothing but the shadows, the figure gone with no trace or trail to follow. If he would read the scroll, it would say this*
~Though you think you further your cause, you merely cast a stone into the unerring path of Fate. Continue as you are, but know that some paths can\'t be followed, some can be, and some must be. Fate will take what it needs and cast all else aside. I know this better than anyone... for I too, have fought Fate. And I have lost.
For Fate has no forgiveness.

\"Tsk, tsk. The election will happen if we vote or not. The only two possibilities are either convincing anyone not to vote, which doesnt seem to work, or move out.\"
Cyl played around with a small knife
\"So now that it is claryfied that there is no chance of having no election, the only true way would be voting for the least evil.\"
-
Yeah, government is corrupt, we should like totally have a place where people can go....and like, live in harmony, with laws to protect them so nobody can just walk into your house, and law men to preserve those laws. and a place to trade goods and services, and share ideas. and since it\'s too hard to take a vote every time we need to decide something, lets each pick someone to represent us, and the mojority vote will win, so that representative can help make the laws the people want...
oh wait, we have that, it\'s called a town.
