Title: No splash/login background
Post by: batteries_not_included on May 09, 2005, 07:29:43 pm
Hokay, eventually gotten the linux binary package downloaded, installed and updated.

Run psclient, what i presume is meant to be a splash/loading screen comes up (it\'s a blank white screen with the blue loading bar), then when that\'s done, the login screen, also with no background. I don\'t know if i have any issues, because i can\'t log in, owing to white input field + white text + white background = I don\'t know /where/ i\'m typing, or what\'s getting input.

everything seems fine in the console output except for
Code: [Select]
$ psclient
NOTIFY: Could not get model converter
NOTIFY: Could not get model crossbuilder
and
Code: [Select]
crystalspace.maploader.parse.image:
Could not open image file \'/planeshift/tools/panflute01.jpg\' on VFS!

crystalspace.maploader.parse.texture:
Couldn\'t load image \'/planeshift/tools/panflute01.jpg\', using checkerboard
  instead!

At the very least, i\'d like to be able to see what i\'m typing, so i stand a chance of logging in.

--update--
ok, edited planeshift.cfg to get the right username in, now the character select screen has the same deal: White screen, \"CHARACTER SELECT\", \"Quit\", and the pedestal works, at least, as does the character model in the creation screen. So it seems to be a 2d issue...

Could be an issue where we are moving towards an easy skinable system.  I will check this out in a clean CVS soon.

after further experimentation and looking in xmls, the graphics are all there and where they should be (planeshift/art/backdrop/...). Could someone perhaps direct me to what file references them? Cause imagelist.xml doesn\'t appear to do much, I tried changing the path to the mouse pointer (which works), and it didn\'t have any effect.

Also, this is all in 800x600.
In 1024x768, i get a black background instead, so i can see what\'s being typed, but no cursor, so i can\'t see where i\'m clicking. And then when I change screens, it overlays instead of replacing, so by the time I get to character creation, there\'s 3 overlapping screens, and it\'s back to unreadable.
